Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Team

The next day, I said goodbye to my grandfather and started walking.

Kelvin happened to pass by, and he give me a ride. We quickly arrived at school.

He parked his motorcycle near the school gate, where other vehicles were parked, and we parted ways. I headed to Club A, while he went to Club D.

As I stepped into the entrance of Club A, a computer-like screen appeared in front of me. I pressed something in the air, and the door opened like a palace gate.

Inside, I saw students training with their designed weapons. Before heading to the field, I stopped for a moment to let a machine put on my training uniform and equip me with my chosen weapon.

When I arrived at the field, I looked for Psy, but I couldn't find him. However, my classmates approached me, asking questions.

"Kyro, are you serious? As a fighter, you're using a bow?" one of them asked.

"Isn't that kind of weapon for marksmen? Why didn't you enroll in the marksman unit?" another asked.

Just as I was about to respond, a new student arrived, drawing everyone's attention. The sound of his chainsaw was unmistakable - it was Psy.

He rushed towards me, excitedly saying, "KYRO, IT'S REALLY LIGHT!!"

Another familiar face arrived, also drawing attention. He was carrying a sword.

"Krypton is really something," Psy whispered to me. I turned to him, concerned.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Doesn't he think it's too dangerous to use that weapon?" Psy asked, worried. I agreed; the weapon did seem perilous, especially for a 16-year-old.

Suddenly, Krypton called me.

"Hey, transfer student! Come with me," he said.

"What?" I replied, raised an eyebrow.

Psy intervened, "Kyro, don't. Find another team member, not him." His voice was laced with fear and concern.

"Team member?" I asked. "What team member?" I added, confused.

"You didn't hear what the teacher said yesterday? We're forming teams for the upcoming festival," Psy explained. I didn't remember the teacher mentioning it. What festival?

"How many members are needed for a team?" I asked without hesitation.

"Seven," he replied. That made sense; it meant we could recruit from different units.

As I looked around, I saw Krypton's expressionless face.

"Psy," I called out. He turned to me, raising an eyebrow.

"Can we tolerate working with Krypton?" I asked.

"Yeah, you can handle it," he replied.

I understood what he meant - he wouldn't be joining my team.

"Good luck, Kyro!" he said, sadly patting my back.

I focused on Krypton, thinking about the possibilities. It wouldn't hurt to work with him. Just then, a loud voice came from the speaker. "Have all of you formed your teams?"

"Kyro, I'll leave you now. Be careful," Psy said before walking away. Krypton approached me, his expression still calm.

"TRANSFEREE!!!" he called out, his voice filled with anger.

I smiled without showing my teeth.

"Why did you wait for the management to speak? You even made me approach you," he said, his anger growing as he approached me. Then, suprisingly a calm voice appeared and asked.

"Who are you looking for?" I turned to see who was speaking and saw Krypton's calm expression.

"Transferees are really weird," he said, adjusting his sword.

Another loud voice came from the speaker, and the situation escalated.

"Attention all students. We will give you two days to build your team. Seven members are a must. You may start forming your team now!" The large club was opened, and students rushed out.

"Kyro, let's go," Krypton called out, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Don't space out. You might miss out on potential team members," he said seriously, dragging me out.

Miss out? Is this the start of the training?

"Where are we going first?" he asked as we exited Club A.

"To Club D. I need to find someone," I replied quickly, and he sped up.

*Kelvin's P.O.V (same time)*

The students were chaotic, as expected. It was getting intense. Did we really need to do this? Teams? What's going on?

What kind of festival is this? I just want to go home.

Wait, is that...? As I focused on the group of students gathering, I saw a familiar face slowly emerging and squeezing into the room.

"Kyro?" I said as I saw him clearly.

Kyro approached me with a smile, panting.

"Kelvin, do you have a team yet?" he asked quickly.

"Not yet, why?" I replied calmly, noticing him grab my shirt.

"Are you okay?" I asked, seeing him out of breath.

"I'm fine," he replied briefly. Knowing Kyro, he's not a liar, but he's serious. I don't know, I don't understand him.

"Let's go," he said, running and grabbing me.

Do we really need to rush?

*Krypton's P.O.V (two minutes earlier)*

Where's Kyro? Other teams are almost complete with seven members; we need to hurry. If we don't find enough members, we won't be able to join the game. Tss, I can fight alone, but it's better to have a full team.

I quickly ran to other units to find members. I passed by a room with three guys and a girl screaming among them. I quietly hid near the door and listened to their conversation.

"Join us, Ms. No one will take you," one of the guys said, sounding drunk. One guy on the right, two on the left. Why does this always happen?

"Hey!!" I shouted from outside, grabbing their attention.

"Huh?" one of them replied, surprised.

"Annoying," I said slowly, drawing my sword from my waist.

"He's from Unit A. Run!" they shouted before leaving us alone. Cowards.

"Let's go," I said, offering my hand to help the girl up.

"Why were you still here?" I added, angrily.

"Sorry," she replied briefly, thanking me.

"Don't just shout; ask for help too," I said irritated, noticing her sudden smile.

"T-thank you," she said, thanking me.

"Okay, okay, go find...," I started to say, but she interrupted me.

"Can I...," she said, and I quickly agreed.

We quickly left the room, and as we did, we bumped into Kyro and his companion.

"Krypton," Kyro said, surprised, mentioning my name.

"Tss, no time for that," I replied.

"Head to section G, the two of us will search section F," I quickly told them, and then I saw them quickly leave.
