Chapter 2 - Inspecting the C.O.P

Walking through the gate facing the river, I entered, and a company of rangers stood in formation as I walked to the Captain, standing next to his First Sergeant. The Captain called his company to attention and saluted, "Captain Cortes, A Company 1/75th Ranger Regiment Reporting for duty, Emperor Quinn." He said, waiting for my return salute, and I gave it. Emperor, that said, amazing as a grin spread across my face as I discovered through the system that all summoned people are entirely loyal to me, no matter what I do.

"At ease, my Rangers," I said while looking at their gear. They had the XM7s, XM250, SIG M338, and M32A1 as the Platoon's loadouts. I am a big fan of the newer weapons; they have drawbacks, but will shine much better in this world than in mine. As they are made for longer-range fighting, this world does not look as developed as mine, making urban fighting less of a thing and more open areas like medieval times. At least that's what I got from the leather armour those ugly green men had on them.

"The mission I have for you is to defend this C.O.P. and send out platoons to scout out these three directions, so Headquarters platoon will be tasked with the defense of this C.O.P. and provide direct fire with the mortars if need be. Captain, please get up the TOC and set up HF radio coms, as we don't have anything in space for a wide range. We will be using HF Radio, which can cover 250 miles for voice, so we should be good with that for now. I want everyone to be on alert, as this world has other beings than humans, and they most likely don't like us. You have your orders, get it done." I told Captain Cortes before saluting him, and he returned the salute and turned around as I started to walk around the area until I found an additional area for the Ammo Resupply Area and summoned the building. No one batted an eye, meaning they didn't care.

As the platoons did their pre-mission invantroy and the HQ platoon was setting up the M2's at the three corners with a SIG M338 between each of them and a rifelman between those having 16 people total pulling watch on the wall which is more then enough fire power for now unless I have seen something to tell me otherwise. A Specialist ran up to me and saluted me, "Emperor, the TOC is up and running. Captain Cortes has asked me to tell you he is ready for your inspection." He said as I saluted and spoke, "Lead the way, Specialist Williams." Before following him, we entered the TOC TVs that operate on short range so we could see what the platoons see with their RQ-12A Wasp III drones. Everything looks in order as I hear radio checks going out from the walls and the platoons.

"Everything is in order, Emperor. At your word, we shall start carrying out missions." Cortes saltued. "Very well, ensure the platoons check the West to North area the most. The beings that tried to attack me come from that area, and I bet there are more of them. If they find any groups of them, they are allowed to attack them, but if they find a village, they pick up a recon mission on it, and we will attack it at night. Having those things near us isn't good, and I have a feeling they are a horrible type of being that doesn't deserve to live." I said, making the Captain nod before passing my orders out.

Grabbing a radio and putting it on my plate carrier, I left the TOC, making my way to my tent to finally have a chance to unwind. Sitting on the cot, lucky for me, the C.O.P let me have the gear needed to survive, as a rucksack and duffle bag were laid next to the cot. Pulling out a fresh uniform, I changed my underwear and clothes before putting on my boots. Lying down, I looked at my map, watching the platoons mapping out the area, that's good. I won't have to do it myself, as I was looking at the green dots, they were about 2km away from the C.O.P., when about twenty red dots showed up with fifteen white dots.

Ten minutes before, about 1.5km into the forest.

"Man, seeing the Emperor was amazing. He is a Ranger too joining the Rangers makes me so fucking proud." Said a PV2.

"Be quiet, Pvt Johnson." Said his team leader.

"But Sarg, we are rangers nothing in these woods can do shit to use." Pv2 Johnson said, making Sergeant Tomson roll his eyes. Well, being high-speed has its perks, he thought. Plus, if they want the Emperor, he said that this place doesn't look advanced, and then the odds of them losing a fight are low.

*scream* "Someone help us! *scream*

His team was the furthest in this direction, making him look to his Squad Leader. Staff Sergeant Adams nodded. "Bulldog, this is Bulldog Alpha. We have sound in front of us, heading to see what it is." Staff Sergeant Adams called up to his Platoon Leader.

2nd Lieutenant Jefferson heard the call from his 1st squad team leader, "Roger, proceed with caution. Out." He said, looking at his platoon sergeant, and nodded before returning to the radio. "Bulldog Bravo and Charlie regroup with Alpha." The two other Squads reply and begin to move to Alpha.

Pv2. Johnson got to the crest of a small hill within the forest and stopped, kneeling by a tree, giving a hand sign of twenty hostiles and fifteen captives as Sergeant Tomson moved up and kneeled beside him in the brush. "Bulldog Alpha, this is BA-1. We have twenty ugly thin humanoids with what looks to be human females. Does that one have pointy ears? What looks to be fifteen human-type females, over." Sergeant Tomson called over the radio before Staff Sergeant Adams could respond. "This is Holy One. My orders are for you to follow them, and I will meet you at the location. How copy? Over." Sergeant Tomson was taken about as the Emperor was coming out to them.

"Holy One, this is Bulldog. Roger. Out." 2nd Lieutenant Jefferson responded. Jefferson looked at his Platoon Sergeant and picked up the pace.

Back at C.O.P New Rome

Grabbing four soldiers from HQ Platoon, I left New Rome and headed out to the Platoon's location as I watched the map; they had stopped about 3.5km from New Rome. It didn't take more than fifteen minutes as I walked up to the Platoon, which had already regrouped. "What's the sitrep, Lt?" I said as they were in a small valley.

"Emperor, there is a village over that hill in an opening. We counted about 1,000 ugly green men and about 250 captives. Sir, can we attack as those women-" The Lt didn't finish his sentence as he was about to lose his anger. As I looked up at the sky, it was already evening, and the sun wouldn't be up for more than another three hours. Bar HQ platoon, I have about 200 Rangers who can attack the place. 5-1 odds don't seem all that bad; it wouldn't be the first time the US Army had to fight against bad odds.

I needed to level to upgrade my C.O.P. This place doesn't look too bad for another C.O.B. pulling out my radio. "A company, I want everyone but HQ to regroup with 2 Platoon. We will be attacking an enemy stronghold tonight. Out." I finished saying four platoons and four sides to the village. Attacking all four sides will make it harder for the green men to use their numbers to flank us.

"Send 30 Rangers back to grab 12 M4 Carl Gustavs and 48 rounds, and we will bring those walls down and doors." I nodded at the LTs, picking the rangers out and sending them back. As we waited, the sun was about to crest by the time they returned. I told the LTs to move their platoons into place and told them that the moment I shot a flare off, I wanted them to fire the Gustavs off until they ran out of ammo. After the Lt's radio that they were in place, movement started happening at the village's biggest tent.

A bigger ugly fucker came out holding a human girl by her hands with one hand before ripping her clothes off. "Shit, can't wait till night," I said raising my XM7 as I aimed down my scope, seeing an ugly green thing rising from under his loincloth as he lifted the girl who was crying and screaming at this time.

*click*

A second later, a painful roar could be heard from the village; his ugly green thing was blown in half. I walked out of the forest, and the sound of horns being blown could be heard from the gate as six soldiers came out with me, three with the M4 Gustavs and the others with ammo.

"Load and take aim," I said.
