Chapter 2 - FOR YOU IN SOME TIME

The morning was natural and was filled with talking of Friszta, his sister, and Siana, his mother. Friszta was years smaller than ulric, and Siana took concern of them. Ulric was still asleep, until, Siana called to wake him up. She had brown hair. She was slim, but no that much, neither. Her golden eyes were the same as ulric, and Friszta was the only one who had pale green eyes and blonde hair. Ulric's brown hair matched very well to Siana's, and he, in fact, had so many habits like his mother.

"Ulric," her mother called. "Wake up! It's time for breakfast."

Ulric sat up in his bed, looked around, stared at the window for a moment, and lay down again, then again, sat up, and then eventually sighed. He seemed frightened but never considered himself as a coward. A few hours before, he still didn't think that was a dream or something, as he had pinched him several times before he slept. He saw the lantern and stared for a moment, thinking what should be his next step. Surely, no one would leave for a complete bizarre, strange shadow to the steel tower — known as site for forsaken. That was its title. Yet, ulric was the type of person who'd never miss his chance in something extraordinary. He placed his hand on his forehead. Fortunately, he wasn't sick. That was the thing that had mostly occurred to ulric after traumatic events or moments. If that was traumatic or not depended on his thoughts. He didn't take it much as a trauma, yet it frightened him a little.

"Ulric," Siana called again. "Are you up?"

"Yes, mother."

He wore slippers, entered the bathroom, washed his face, brushed his teeth, and wore off night-clothes. He then wore his tunic and pants. He sighed and left the bathroom to the kitchen. He saw his mother nearly adjusting the breakfast, and he sat on the chair of the dining table. Friszta came just in time, sat too, and looked at ulric with a confused face.

"Hey?" she said abruptly. "What happened? You look frightened!"

"Nothing."

"Did you see something at the garden last night?" Siana asked. "You look anxious."

"I said I'm fine."

She sighed and walked to him, placed her hand on his forehead, and then said, "You're not sick or something. Good. Eat breakfast."

He looked at the platters before him. There was a buttered bread with a piece of pudding and a glass of apple juice. He gulped and ate it all.

"I didn't know you could cook pudding," Friszta said. "I thought you didn't know."

"Niara taught me at work. She said it would make your children happier."

"It really makes us happier," she said. "Look how delicious it is, isn't it urlic?"

He abruptly looked at Friszta after he had zoned out. "Huh? Yes. Yes. It is tasty."

"What is wrong with you?" Friszta said. "You sound so dry."

When they ate everything, ulric stood up the dining table and walked towards the garden. He looked nervous and anxious, as though he had done something weird or something prohibited, or saw something traumatic, in Friszta's and Siana's perspective.

"Ulric," she called, when only when Ulric had stepped ahead. "I shall return till twilight. Take care of your sister."

She packed her bag and packed her food in the bag. She filled the trunk with kitchen supplies like spoons and knifes. She worked as a chef, who made dishes for customers at an inn within a hamlet, only a little bit afar their home. She creaked open the door and left for the work.

Some minutes passed by, and Ulric was still in the garden. He stood up after making his mind about last night: He would go to Steel Tower and meet this shadow and listen to what it had to say.

Anticipated only good things.
