The only sound was Mr. Glover's deep voice. The class was boring.
His sleeves were rolled up, exposing thick veins running down his muscular arms, his grip tightening around the ruler in his hand. His shirt stretched across his bulging chest, and when he turned, his glare alone could send someone six feet under.
. He had been barking at the class for the past thirty minutes, and honestly, Lily had stopped listening after the first five.
"Lily" he said "Stand up.
Lily groaned inwardly, pushing herself up to her feet with a deep sigh.
"You ready to answer, or are you just gonna keep staring at me like that, huh?" He said .She could feel all eyes on her, and , she wasn't ready for this.
"Let's start with a basic one. What's the difference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells?"
Lily's lips parted, and she forced herself to speak, trying to scrape together any knowledge she could from the haze of disinterest that had clouded her brain during the lecture. "Uhh…"
She opened her mouth, but the words got stuck in her throat. Her chest tightened.
She hadn't been l listening.
Lily swallowed, her mouth suddenly dry. "Uhh..."
Mr. Glover raised a brow. "Yes?"
She glanced at the board, praying for some divine intervention.
Lily exhaled slowly, then took a wild guess. "Uh… prokaryotic cells don't have a nucleus, but eukaryotic cells do?"
The room was dead silent.
Then
"Correct," Mr. Glover said.
Lily blinked. "Wait, what?"
Mr. Glover nodded. "Correct. Prokaryotic cells lack a nucleus and membrane bound organelles. Eukaryotic cells, however, have a nucleus and are more complex."
He turned back to her, tapping his ruler against the desk. "Explain the process of mitosis."
Her fingers tapped against her desk as she forced herself to recall something. .
She licked her lips. "Uh… mitosis is the process where a single cell divides to produce two identical daughter cells?"
Mr. Glover tilted his head slightly, waiting.
Lily inhaled deeply. "It happens in stages… uh, interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase, and cytokinesis."
"Correct again."
"Class dismissed "he said before checking his wrist watch.

"I don't get why he is asking you questions, maybe he hate you," Ava muttered, resting her chin on her palm.
"Darn it, why did we have to get the most terrifying teacher in this whole fucking school?"
She chuckled before she stood up. "I'll be right back."

There.
She walked toward one, her fingers brushing It was her favorite romance books, she couldn't buy it because it was expensive.
Her breath hitched as her eyes landed on a familiar cover. Her fingers hesitated before tracing the golden lettering on the spine.
Mated to the Devil.
It was the same book Mira had bough, the one she had been dying to finish but never got the chance.
Just a little more
Warm hands wrapped around her waist.
Her breath hitched.
That scent.
Masculine. The intoxicating scent of something dark and woodsy hit her senses. Her heart thudded loudly in her chest. She knew that scent.
"Liam," she muttered under her breath, turning her head slightly to confirm what she already knew.
He was too close. Right there. His broad chest pressed against her back, his warmth seeping into her. His hand slid around her waist, slow,, and before she could even process what the was happening, he plucked the book from her fingertips.
"Hey" Lily spun around, glaring at him, her face flushed with irritation. "I was taking that before you did."
A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips, cocky and infuriatingly attractive. "I took it first," he said .He raised the book above her head, out of her reach.
"Give it back" Lily said, stepping closer. Her hand darted out to grab the book, but he pulled it further away.
No. Mated To The Devil's, what the hell are you even reading" he said with amusement.
.Lily's hand gripped the book tighter as she attempted to pull it from Liam's grasp.
"Give it back," Lily said, stepping closer. Her hand darted out to grab the book, but Liam pulled it further away, smirking.
"No. Sex With The Devil's Mate," he said, his voice dripping with amusement.
"I'm not," she quickly replied, her voice sharp. "I just... found it. And I was going to put it back."
"Just give it to me," she whispered, stepping even closer.
Suddenly, her foot slipped, causing her to lose her balance and fall forward.
Her body slammed against Liam's, and they crashed onto the floor with a thud. She landed on top of him,
The breath whooshed out of her as she landed on top of him. Her face burned with embarrassment as her body pressed against his, her red lips hovering mere inches above his.
His dark eyes bore into hers, "Fuck," he muttered under his breath, his jaw tightening. The way her chest rose and fell against him, the way her lips looked so temptingly close was driving him insane.
Lily's mind screamed at her to move, but her body wouldn't obey. Her lips tingled as she realized just how close they were to his. His warm breath fanned her cheek, and her heart hammered against her ribs.
Her heart slammed against her ribs as she realized the position they had landed in.
She was on top of him.
His silver white hair was a messy halo against the floor, his sharp eyes locked onto hers.
Her red lips were barely an inch from his.
Liam's fingers twitched against her waist, his jaw tightening.
She froze, her breath caught in her throat.
He was so close.
His scent wrapped around her, and for a second just a second dhe forgot how to move.
His lips parted slightly, his breathing heavy.
Lily's heart pounded as she stared at the ruined book on the floor
Darn it.
And now it was ruined.
Lily's head snapped up.
She could feel his smirk before he even looked at her.
Heat crawled up Lily's neck, a mix of anger and embarrassment.
"Give that back," she snapped, reaching for the page.
Lily's fingers curled into fists, her breath shaky as she stared at the damage.
Liam was still sitting on the floor, one arm resting lazily on his bent knee, the other holding up a single torn page.
A page from the book.
Lily's blood turned ice cold.
He was reading it.
The realization slammed into her like a punch to the gut.
His smirk deepened. "Tch. Didn't take you for someone who liked this kind of thing."
Lily froze.
A sharp heat crawled up her neck, her face burning with something close to humiliation.
"Give that back," she snapped, reaching for the page.
Liam raised it higher, just out of her reach. His long fingers lazily traced over the words.
"This is some filthy shit," he mused, as he chuckled.
"I wasn't going to read it." She said as her face flushed. She do read it because of her best friend who loves this kind of books.
"Then why do you look like you just got caught?"
"I hate you," she hissed.she knew it didn't matter, because the bastard was still smirking, still looking at her like he was amused, like he enjoyed every second of this.
Liam chuckled and He patted her head Lily stiffened. His fingers brushed through her hair, slow, lazy, like he was amused by her reaction.
"Hi."
Lily turned her head, her gaze landing on Ava, who stood a few feet away, her hands clasped tightly in front of her, her face already pink.
She sucked in a shaky breath,
She took a hesitant step forward, her fingers gripping the hem of her uniform as she glanced at Liam.
"Liam's expression didn't change. He didn't acknowledge Ava. Didn't even spare her a glance.
"I I'm a huge fan of you, I love you. No.. your music and I even follow you," she said, her face flushing a deep red.
. "And I I will" She stammered, her words tumbling over each other, her nerves making her stumble.
Liam didn't say anything.
"Can I take your number please?"
Silence.
"No," he said, his voice flat.
Ava's smile faltered, her fingers twisting around the fabric of her uniform as she let out a small, nervous laugh.
"Oh," she said, her voice smaller now, weaker.
Ava bit her lip, shifting on her feet. "Maybe we can "
"I'm busy," Liam cut in, his tone colder now, sharper.
Ava forced out another laugh, the sound brittle, forced. "Oh, yeah. Of course. You're probably really busy."
Liam didn't respond, didn't offer a single word of comfort.
She cleared her throat and straightened her shoulders.
She forced a smile. "I should go."
Liam's smirk deepened, as he took a slow step back. But just before he turned, he reached out smooth, deliberate and tucked a loose strand of Lily's hair behind her ear,
"See you around, princess," he murmured before walking away.
A shiver crawled down her spine, her fingers twitching at her sides.
"I didn't know you talked to him."
Ava's arms were crossed, her lips pressed together, her brows slightly furrowed.
"Yeah," she said. "I just bumped into him. He's an annoying creature."
She just stared at Lily for a moment, her fingers gripping the hem of her skirt,
Then, finally, she exhaled, forcing a small smile onto her lips, but it didn't reach her eyes.
"Yeah, well," she said, shifting her weight from one foot to the other, "I gotta go. I need to finish my assignment."
Lily frowned.
"That's weird," she said slowly. "I thought you wanted to me and you, remember?"
Ava's smile dropped, her shoulders stiffening.
"No," she said bluntly.
Lily blinked..
Ava's fingers twitched, her jaw tightening before she cleared her throat and looked away.
The shift. The way Ava had been fine before. The way her mood had changed the moment she saw Liam .
Ava let out a short, breathy laugh, shaking her head. "No, just " She stopped, sighed. " Just Forget it, Lily."
