Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Chapter 7: You Really Think You Can Turn Your Life Around?

"This is great, isn't it?"

Lilith was holding a black top hat.

Her teacher really had potential!

He had the whole scholar vibe.

He actually looked quite handsome.

Lyle adjusted the blue crystal pendulum at his waist.

White shirt, golden tie pin, and a black coat.

"I'm not too comfortable with this..."

Lilith's red-pointed ears wiggled: "First impressions matter, teacher. You've been way too negative before. No one wants to hang out with a sloppy guy."

"I'm not sloppy, I brush my teeth three times a day!"

"I mean, you need to dress up!" Lilith said angrily. "No wonder you're being a simp and still can't even get anything!"

Ah, saying that to my own teacher… Should I get hit for this?

So... exciting!

She secretly slipped a round-framed pair of glasses into her pocket.

Lyle glanced at the bill, his face full of suspicion.

"Isn't this too expensive?"

"You think I'm getting a commission from this store?"

"Of course not! What are you thinking, teacher!"

"But your ears are turning red."

"That's... that's embarrassment! It's embarrassment!"

Lilith huffed, shaking her fist at him, looking like she was ready to punch him.

The two of them walked out of the clothing store.

It was obvious that more eyes were on them than usual.

Lyle wasn't used to it, so he pulled the black top hat down.

Lilith rummaged through her bag and took out a commission notice.

[Oak Tree Tavern, Level 4 Brewer]

"Let's go there first. Their brewer retired to live at home."

However, on the way, they bumped into the priestess who had been looking for Lyle.

Honestly, Emilia was nearly furious.

Shiya's temper was terrible.

She had told her to apologize, but it was like she stepped on a cat's tail—slammed the door and left.

The priestess had probably cursed so many times in her mind.

When she saw Lyle and Lilith walking over, she froze for a moment.

"Why are you dressed up? Don't you really think a change of clothes will change your fate?"

"You think just changing clothes will make a difference?"

And that damn pointed ear! You're trying to sneak in, right?!

"Lyle!"

Emilia immediately grabbed Lyle's sleeve, running over to him.

She had a deeply tired look on her face.

"Emilia?"

She grabbed Lyle's sleeve and said anxiously, "I was worried you wouldn't have a place to stay. I've been looking for you for a long time, and you didn't take anything—no clothes or daily necessities."

Lyle opened his mouth. "It's fine, I'm good."

"When will you be back?" Emilia's eyes reddened again.

Lyle sighed. "Emilia, don't do this."

Emilia wiped her eyes. "Are you... are you looking for a job?"

"Yeah... sort of."

Lilith blinked but didn't speak.

"Can I go with you? At least, I want to see you're okay before you come back."

Emilia seemed like she was about to cry again, looking so pitiful.

Lyle was silent for a moment.

He hadn't realized that Emilia cared so much about him?

Or was it that the priestess only valued their two years of fighting side by side, not him personally?

Her acting was too good.

Tears were almost hanging from her long eyelashes.

Oak Tree Tavern.

The owner was a big bearded man.

When he heard that Lilith brought a brewer, he was quite polite and invited them to sit.

"I've found you a Level 6 brewer!"

Lilith extended her finger to emphasize, "Level 6! Level 6, wow!"

"You're kidding, right?"

Wilson frowned. "A brewer? The highest I've seen is only Level 4, and I've never heard of anyone in Iof that has a Level 6 brewer."

He looked at the man next to him, who didn't leave immediately.

Lilith's packaging still had some effect.

"I'm not joking!"

Lilith scratched her ear and touched her bag.

Only now did she remember that Lyle had canceled his scholar status at the Adventurer's Association.

That parchment had been archived and wasn't taken along.

Uh... To be honest, it was hard to make them believe.

Emilia saw her embarrassment and had an inkling of what was going on.

Brewer?

Lyle could indeed brew.

Every time the three of them soaked in the hot spring, they would have a cup of wine.

They didn't let Lyle drink, but that didn't mean they wouldn't drink.

But the problem is, you don't really think you can come to the tavern and ask for a job just because of this, right? Haha...

Emilia furrowed her brows deeply: "Lyle is a scholar of the Moonlit Bloom, so be polite."

Wilson shook his head: "What does the Moonlit Bloom have to do with me? I'm just a bartender. I'm not hiring scholars, I need to see his skills in brewing."

"You..."

The priestess thought for a moment and agreed with this reasoning.

"Lyle?"

Lyle smiled and nodded in understanding.

He looked around.

The adventurers in armor were all drinking with joy, but the drinks in their hands were all fruit wine or beer.

"All your wines are brewed, right?"

Wilson glanced at him: "Fruits, grains, wheat, and such."

Lyle tapped the edge of his cup with his finger: "I think I know why my life skills are level 6 now."

Honestly, his brewing skills weren't that impressive.

But his rating was indeed the highest level 6.

So the criteria for evaluation... must be innovation.

While everyone else was using traditional brewing methods, the knowledge in his mind was indeed groundbreaking theory.

Wilson rolled his eyes.

He had been brewing for twenty years, and his brewing skill was level 3.

Level 6? Nonsense.

Why don't you just say all your life skills are level 6?

Lyle thought for a moment: "Have you considered using different boiling points to concentrate the alcohol content, and collect high-concentration alcohol and aromatic components?"

Wilson furrowed his brows: "Don't understand, what are you talking about?"

"Which boils faster, water or alcohol?"

Wilson said: "Of course alcohol."

His pupils constricted.

Lyle nodded: "So, there must be an appropriate temperature where alcohol separates from water."

"Why?"

Lyle rubbed his forehead: "Using this method, you can make a kind of liquor you've never tasted before. As for the specifics, you wouldn't understand."

Distillation.

A common method for separating and purifying liquid mixtures.

Wilson vaguely grasped something but still didn't quite understand.

The idea of distilled alcohol appeared in his mind for the first time.

Lilith didn't understand at all.

But she knew it was time to show admiration.

The teacher is amazing!

"But how do you control this temperature and collect the alcohol? That's the problem."

Lyle smiled: "Only I know."

Wilson thought for a long time: "I can let you try. If you're successful, how about fifty gold coins a month?"

Lyle thought about it.

Such a groundbreaking concept couldn't be bought with just fifty gold coins.

Better to make something tangible first for him to see.

Emilia frowned: "Fifty gold coins? Lyle makes five or six hundred gold coins every time we go to the dungeon! Are you insulting Lyle?"

Wilson shook his head: "Of course, this can't be compared to adventuring, but fifty gold coins really isn't a low amount. In Dreamland, even a succubus only costs two gold coins."

Lyle was stunned: "Only two gold coins? Oh no, we'll talk about prices later. First, I need to show you the product."

"Alright."

Lyle shook hands with him, then adjusted his hat: "I'll come back tomorrow. I need to prepare some things."

A pleasant interview.

Emilia subconsciously wanted to bite her finger.

What's with this water-alcohol temperature stuff?

She didn't really understand it either.

Lyle... you don't really think you can turn things around, do you?

Brewing?

Without Moonlit Bloom, you're actually nothing.

Don't think there are very few people wanting to lick my boots.

I told you, being a tool for me is an honor.
