Chapter 16 - THE START OF SUMMER

Today was the day on which we would depart from Hogwarts to our respective homes, in my case a small house in the Hogsmead village. I had already packed all my belongings in the trunk I owned. I drew out my wand and cast a reducio charm on my now completely packed trunk, causing it to shrink in size till it was the size of a small ring box and pocketed it in on of the pockets in my robe.

The shrinking charm I used was learned from a book of common and not so common household charms, I came across this book while exploring the ravenclaw library for anything to read for passing time. This spells root was in transfiguration but it was still called a charm because the transfiguration spell was a different kind which allowed us control of whether we want to enlarge the object or shrink it, and this wider use of it also meant it was a pretty High level spell expected to be known by OWL level students or above.

Checking if I haven't left anything of importance here I, once assured that I had not indeed left anything behind, got out of the room and closed the door before going down to the common room where I found my friends waiting for me.

"Finally you decided to come down Marcus I thought you would stay in your room till the start of our second year here." Edgar called out my tardiness in a exaggerated way.

I chuckled at his dramatic exclamation and explained my self saying, "I was just making sure I hadn't left anything out while packing as any proper raven in my place would." He was about to argue more but was cut of by Eleanor.

"We can argue next term Edgar, for now let us move to the lake side to take the boats across the river to the Hogsmead station." Edgar was a bit pouty about being cut off but didn't say anything and just turned towards the exit with a exaggerated huff of annoyance making us both laugh at his dramatic behaviour.

We had already crossed the gates of the castle when we came across professor Dumbledore who upon seeing us said, "Ah Marcus, Edgar and Eleanor, just he students I was looking for. I will be joining you for now as I have to show Marcus his residence for this summer after he has seen you people off."

Before Edgar could say anything stupid I went ahead and said, "Of course professor please join us." From there we boarded the boats with Dumbledore joining us. We talk the whole ride to just enjoy this rather short and emotional journey."

After reaching the station I saw Edgar and Eleanor off rather quickly to not keep the professor waiting. I was also able to have a last minute conversation with Henry and Elizabeth about our future correspondence through there own owls.

Turning to professor after the train went out of sight I gestured him to lead the way, which he did prompting me to follow him. We walked for a long while and were well into the village before he asked me, "So how was your first year at Hogwarts Marcus?", In a casual and friendly tone.

"It was everything I imagined it be and everything I didn't imagine it to be, it was like finally being in a familiar environment after returning from a long journey, like I was mean to be here, so yes it was enjoyable, fun, learning and enchanting experience." I answered with a fond and happy smile.

"HaHaHa, I am glad you enjoyed yourself even if most of the time you were busy studying." He said with a laugh and a knowing look.

I just smiled cheekily at him after which he said, "Well, this is your residence for up and coming summer." He said pointing to a small house, it was just a single story construct which was good as I didn't know if I could take care of a bigger house by my self.

"Thank you for showing me the way professor Dumbledore." I said to him as he handed me a key, no doubt it was the key to this house.

"I hope you have a nice summer ahead of you Marcus. Now a few words of warning, I know that you know that the trace doesn't work in a magical area, it would mean you are free to perform magic as you please the whole summer, but I don't want you to cause any trouble around the village, now I know that you are a perfectly reasonable young man and won't cause any trouble, but I was asked by the Headmaster to inform you of this. With this I bid you farewell and once again wish you a fun holiday." He said with a look of slight seriousness.

"I promise you professor Dumbledore, that I won't cause any trouble, please tell the headmaster to rest assured, I also wish you a fulfilling holiday." I answered him and bowed slightly towards the end. And with that he went of on his own way but not before giving me a proud smile.

After seeing him walk off I turn towards the main door of the house, moving up to it with the key in my hands I insert it in the slot and to my surprise the key was instantly swallowed up by the gate, after which a pulse of magic crossed me originating from inside the house.

I racked my mind about what happened before recalling that this was a common phenomenon when a powerful set of wards settled down, 'ah they probably didn't tell me about it because they thought I wouldn't know about such a thing, well lets get in side.' Those were my thoughts as I entered the house,

It was well lit and the area of entrance was a large open area that seemed like a front yard, crossing it I went in through another set of doors, across them was a sitting area with couches and a centre table in the middle of the room. It was not overly decorated and was pretty simple. Connected to this was the kitchen area which was also sporting a dinning table for many people but it has just two chairs for now..

Going through another set of doors which were towards the side of the room, I came across the bedroom, it held a large bed in on corner of the room, a cupboard to the other corner with a bookshelf besides it and also a study table lined along the wall nestled between the bed and the cupboard. The room itself only had a window which was in front of the study table, the room was also pretty large with ample spacing between each piece of furniture.

The colouring of all the rooms I have come across was also to my liking, a mixture of dark blue and gold. Placing my trunk at the side of the bed I opened the door attached to the bedroom, it contained a bathroom with shower fitted at on side and one side was the pooping area.

Closing the door for now I moved out of the bedroom and went in the kitchen to check if the pantry had anything in it, and to me pleasure it was stocked fully. Moving back to my room I opened my trunk and started levitating out all the items to their intended places, the books went to the top bookshelf, with the more needed ones being in a section of themselves. Next up were the clothes which went to the closet in an organized manner.

For the rest like my potions left over ingredients from this year and instruments used to make them were left in the trunk, with the trunk itself was placed at the bottom of my closet. Done with arranging all the things with my magic I noticed it was getting to the time of dinner.

Making sure everything was in its place I moved to the kitchen and took out all the utensils I would need and started making my self a pair of sunny side eggs with a few strips of bacon. When It was done cooking I transferred it to a plate and devoured it.

Magic sure makes life easier, washing all the things I used in my cooking and placing them back from where I took them from, I was ready to do some might time reading.

I read about the different happenings throughout the history of Wizarding world and I would beam whenever someone of my family was mentioned, being proud that one of my ancestors were worth being written about in a well known history book. Like this the first day of my summer hols ended without much hassle.
