Irida was caught off guard with the request. She was about to reject Odette's idea, because she was afraid that Her Grace might've gotten hurt.
After all, some of the herbs here were poisonous to the point that they would kill someone who inhaled or consumed them.
A few herbs also turned poisonous when they were mixed with other herbs or even water.
But then, she noticed the determination in Odette's eyes, as if she had the firm belief that she could treat those with Crushian Fever.
After a period of consideration, Irida finally nodded. To clear her doubt, she said, "I will have to watch over you, Your Grace. Some ingredients might've been rare or extinct outside of the kingdom, I don't want you to get poisoned by them."
"My teacher also observed me when I was brewing the medicine. So I don't mind at all," Odette nodded. "Uhm, can I start? I just need a few ingredients to make the medicine."
"Sure, the apothecary is yours, Your Grace," Irida said. She also grabbed her note, ready to note down all of the ingredients and process necessary to create the cure for Crushian Fever.
Odette started looking around the glass case filled with various medicines. Thankfully, all of them were already named, so it wasn't difficult for her to get the ingredients.
"The cure has three ingredients; Harpy cherry to help the body to digest it faster, night cloves as an effective painkiller, and most importantly, the seed of living ivy," Odette explained while picking the ingredients.
She put all of them inside the mortar and used the pestle to ground them until they turned into a paste, "Make sure to put enough harpy cherry, or else the seed would take a long time to digest and it might be too strong for children."
Irida watched how skillful Odette was. She glanced at Odette's face and saw the unwavering focus on her eyes.
When she first talked to Odette, Irida thought that she would be a little lazy and difficult to teach, because Odette's previous incarnations were always stubborn, and somewhat arrogant.
But this 100th incarnation of their beloved Queen seemed to be different from her previous selves.
It took Odette an hour to grind the ingredients until they turned into a paste and all the seeds of living ivy became smooth, "Make sure to grind the seed until they become very, very smooth. It's a very strong herb, it might do more harm than good for children if they're not grounded to perfection."
Odette put the paste into a small jar and closed the lid tightly, "And it's done. Half a teaspoon of this paste added into a glass of warm water should be more than enough to heal the Crushian Fever. A bigger adult probably needs a teaspoon instead. The seed works like magic, and the Crushian Fever would be cured in just an hour or two."
Odette turned to stare at a big batch of the seeds of living ivy inside the glass cabinet. It seemed to be a common plant in this kingdom. She sighed and commented, "Seed of living ivy is called the miracle medicine because it's the only known cure for this fever. I'm so glad that we still have a lot here."
She looked back at Irida, who was staring at her dumbly, and smiled, "Please treat those patients immediately, doctor. I'm sure they're waiting to get better."
"Y-yes! Certainly, Your Grace!"
Irida prepared three glasses of warm water with the medicine paste for the patients in her clinic. Odette helped her, so her patients could drink the medicine, as they were already too weak to even drink anything right now.
"We should wait for them to heal. I heard from my teacher back then that sometimes there'll be complications, mostly when the dose is too much for the body," Odette explained. "And if that happens, we will have to force them to drink as much as possible."
Irida nodded as she watched the patients seriously.
While they were waiting for the medicine to kick in, the door was knocked.
Irida opened the door and saw the cat maids standing outside.
"We're here to fetch Her Grace. It's been two hours, I think?" Ruru said to Irida. "She will have a long time with Zircon and Ymir later."
"An hour and forty-seven minutes, to be exact," Rori corrected. "Do you need more time with Her Grace?"
"Ah, I just finished making the medicine just now," Odette said as she popped behind Irida's back. She smiled at the cat maids and asked, "Can you give me one more hour? I have to watch over the patients. They just took the medicine to cure the Crushian Fever."
The cat maids gasped in unison.
"Cure for Crushian Fever? Does such a thing exist?" Ruru asked.
"Sure do. It's not uncommon in my pack," Odette replied. "Though, the ingredients for the cure are rare. But I still know it at heart."
"T-then, can we watch the patients too? We want to witness a medical miracle!" Ruru asked.
Odette looked at Irida. Since this clinic was hers, she had the full authority.
"Of course! I'm sure everyone wants to see the miracle happen!" Irida nodded excitedly.
"I-I will go fetch Sir Zircon!" Rori said as she dashed towards the training ground.
Thus, in less than five minutes, the clinic was packed, with Irida, the cat maids, and Sir Zircon, watching the three patients attentively.
Meanwhile, Odette was praying deep in her heart. Her hands were sweating, as she got nervous.
She had tried her best and used all her medical skills. It would be disheartening if the cure didn't work.
'Goddess, please help me this time. I know these beastmen are in so much pain right now. Please show us your miracle and cure them,' Odette prayed to the Moon Goddess sincerely, knowing that all she could do right now was to pray.
Slowly, the expressions of three patients eased up, they stopped groaning in pain, and after an hour of waiting, one of them, a badger beastman, opened his eyes.
