Leon kicked down the brown door with his foot. A loud bang echoed as the hinges screamed before the door burst open, revealing what lay inside.
His expression turned cold when he saw a well-dressed young man standing in front of him, his face covered in a black cloth. But Leon knew… behind the man, Sofia lay—motionless, her breathing barely audible.
"Surprise," Damian said. He tossed a small object toward Leon—a black metal spider-like robot.
Leon caught it effortlessly with his right hand. A mocking smirk tugged at his lips. "You think I'm scared of spiders?" he scoffed.
"Yeah," Damian replied shortly, before his index finger pressed a small button on his strap. Click.
Leon's eyes widened. His instincts screamed at him to move—but it was already too late.
Boom!
The explosion wasn't loud. It was silent—but terrifying. A black flame erupted from the spider, swallowing the air with heat and fury. Leon's body was flung backward like a broken puppet. He smashed into the wall, hard.
Crack.
Pain exploded through his back. The wooden planks splintered behind him. Jagged stone cut into his skin. He felt warm blood trickle down his sides.
His fingers were shredded—bone visible beneath torn flesh. Smoke rose from his jacket, now scorched and curling at the edges. He wheezed, lungs screaming, each breath like inhaling fire.
It hurt.
More than anything.
But before he could recover—
Rapid footsteps.
Damian charged forward. A dagger in his hand caught the dim light, flashing silver like a snake's fang.
Stab!
"Aaarkh!"
A deep stab landed in Leon's chest. Warm blood spurted, soaking his torn shirt.
Damian didn't stop. Stab after stab pierced his flesh and skin, tearing through rib bones.
Each attack sounded like raw meat being shredded by a blunt knife.
The dagger then aimed for his neck—Leon blocked it with the last of his strength, trembling and nearly paralyzed. Their hands locked together, breaths mingling in heat and the stench of blood.
Something glowed from beneath Leon's suit. A faint light started to flow from his chest, growing brighter by the second.
Damian's eyes widened. He yanked his dagger back and immediately snatched the pendant hanging around Leon's neck—a necklace with a golden-glowing stone.
"NOOO!" Leon roared, his voice hoarse and full of rage.
The light from the pendant suddenly flared, radiating warmth like the sun in summer. In the next second, Damian slashed the chain of the pendant—tasshh!—severing it from Leon's neck.
Fwoooom!
The light exploded into a flood of golden brilliance, blinding. The room's temperature spiked, as if surrounded by invisible embers.
Damian had to retreat, shielding his eyes with his arm, the heat searing his skin, lasting for several seconds.
When he finally opened his eyes, his vision was still blurry, full of floating dots. But it didn't take long for it to clear.
And Leon… was gone.
The only thing left was the pendant, now in his hand. Warm. Gently throbbing like a heartbeat. A grayish-black stone that looked alive—glimmering faintly in his palm.
This item… the reason Leon vanished. An ancient relic capable of teleporting someone far away.
But more than that… inside the pendant was a great secret that even common sense would reject.
Damian grinned wide, his breath rough and heavy.
"This is mine now," he muttered, voice low like a devil's whisper.
[System path has been determined]
[The system's name is: Fate Reweaving System]
[In the original plot, you were fated to die tonight. Therefore, you were never meant to have any future role]
[There are no tasks. No orders. Every time you interfere with someone's fate, you will receive something in return. The more important the person is to this world, the greater the reward]
Damian stroked his chin, his breath still ragged. His eyes narrowed, trying to understand the message that had just appeared before him as a faint blue hologram.
"Shit… so this is what the system does?" he muttered quietly.
[You have a starter reward package. Would you like to open it?]
His eyes widened. "Open it!" he answered quickly.
[Congratulations! You have received the Miracle Spirit: S-Class – Alexander the Great]
[Congratulations! You have received the Divine Weapon – Ruyi Jingu Bang]
[Congratulations! You have received the Magic Base – Sage Realm]
[Congratulations! You have received Enhanced Combat Technique from the legendary boxer: Muhammad Ali]
[Congratulations! You have received insight into this world and a glimpse of its future]
Damian stood frozen. His body trembled—not from fear—but from adrenaline and overwhelming excitement.
This… was real.
A wide grin spread across his face. But after a few seconds, he turned and walked back into the room, then sat on the floor with heavy breaths and empty eyes.
"Is this for real… Alexander the Great, a divine weapon, and even a magical foundation… I've hit the fucking jackpot!"
The rewards from this system were insane. His Miracle Spirit—S-Class: Alexander the Great, the world-conquering king who never lost a battle. And now, that figure was his Miracle Spirit.
In this world, Miracle Spirits were manifestations of the soul—the embodiment of someone's deepest power, which could take the form of creatures, weapons, or symbols.
Miracle Spirits came in many types, from weapons and unique powers to beasts. And the most feared? Those who had historical figures, mythological beings, or divine artifacts.
Some examples of the strongest Miracle Spirit owners included the Viking clan leader with the Miracle Spirit of the All-Father Odin, the Qin Empire Emperor with his Jade Emperor Miracle Spirit, and a general in Ptolemaic Egypt with his Miracle Spirit, Anubis.
But that wasn't what shocked Damian the most…
What nearly drove him insane was the Magic Base—Sage Realm, something even geniuses needed decades to achieve.
Him? Damian was only at Human Realm level 2. He had immense talent, the Archfindor bloodline didn't lie, but he had a fatal flaw—laziness. He spent more time partying, bullying, and living however he pleased. A typical cannon fodder villain.
This world had seven main magic realms: Human Realm, Spirit Realm, Origin Realm, Sage Realm, Emperor Realm, Void Realm, and Divine Realm.
Each realm consisted of ten levels. To ascend, one had to merge with Mana, the ancient power flowing from the heart of the world.
The Human Realm was about building the body and forming a mana core, a magical organ connected to the heart.
The Spirit Realm introduced true magic. The Origin Realm was about profound understanding of nature and its essence.
The Sage Realm is where practitioners begin to grasp the fundamental principles of the universe and gain the ability to control energy with a high level of magic.
Realms beyond that? Most legends never even touched them…
[Would you like to proceed with the extraction?]
Damian stared at the hologram, his voice soft but firm.
"…Proceed."
