Yula's POV
After a long night of researching and stealing into other wolves' heads while they slept, we came to the conclusion that the diamond is used to direct our path in finding the boy who is a member of our clan. Sungmin held onto it, stretching his hand forward as he directed us using the diamond stone. We all followed behind. The scary sounds of animals hitting hard on us — we were in a dangerous forest.
"Would he be in a place like this?" I asked.
"I don't think so. But let's just keep our fingers crossed," Jiah replied as we continued the journey.
Then Nara jolted in from one side of the bush. "That stone belongs to us!" she said. Though, I do not think I am here for that. "My fiancé killed one of us and two Omegas are missing!" she added, her eyes black.
"I told you, she's a hybrid!" Sungmin said, with a wild grin on his face. He dipped the stone into an inner pocket in his jacket.
"Hahaha, like I can't get access to that place? Have you forgotten when we made love, not once, not twice! I had access to all of you! Every damn place!" she said.
I noticed the look on Jiah's face. If it weren't for the fact that we were in the middle of a war, she would have cried out her eyes. I knew that word hurt her a lot.
"That was then. You are not my mate!" Sungmin said.
"How sure are you about that?" she asked, curling a sinister smile at the corner of her lip. "Don't be deceived, you fool! Look at this!" she said, showing us a picture of Sungmin and herself when they were younger!
"What!" I mind-linked Jiah, who was obviously heartbroken. Sungmin's blood ran cold.
"That's not even all that I have got. Come with me, let me show you what you do not know," she said.
"Don't listen to her, Sungmin. She's nothing but a liar!" I yelled into the air. From the look on his face, he was having a double mind.
Jiah didn't get involved; I am sure she tried to pull herself together where she stood.
Jiah's POV
They exist before us; I am only a distraction. As I watched them talk to each other, I felt disconnected from Sungmin. Was I really his mate or just destiny mates? I cried in my heart. Memories of when he professed his love to me crossed my mind.
"He had been lying all along," I said to myself.
As I lifted my head, finding courage to behold the somewhat romantic scene, I saw Nara grip Yula by her throat, suspending her in the air. She was gasping for air, and Sungmin stood there like some piece of monument. He didn't rescue her. I realized she tried to strangle her because she had tried to steal into her head. How did Nara know she was the one who was doing that? Maybe she knows Sungmin too well — that he could not do such a thing because he can't — he had no power too.
Before I could get a hold of her, she sped off with Yula. I tried to run after her, but I wasn't as fast as she was; I couldn't catch up. I felt myself shattering! My eyes swelled up with tears immediately.
"Did you plan this with your lover?" I asked Sungmin, heavily teary-eyed.
"I am sorry…"
"Sorry for what!!!" I yelled to my fullest, interrupting his speech.
"I just couldn't do a thing," he added, feeling remorse.
"If anything happens to her, consider your…" I trailed off after realizing that he could read meaning to what I was about to say in a negative way, and that could worsen the messy situation I was already in.
Since Yula has been captured, Sungmin shouldn't leave too.
"How do we know how many hours we have left? We just need to hurry and find him; then we can go for Yula! You and I cannot do it all alone," I said with a bleeding heart.
If only I could give up, I would, but it was just too late to. Sungmin was making things harder and unbearable for me.
"I am sorry. I can't do this anymore. I am tired!" Sungmin said, and I remembered something — what Yula saw in the future.
"I just need a break! Need to clear my head."
I couldn't close my lips. Flu, tears, and spit had made a mess of my face. I hoped he didn't mean all he said.
"I'll just go get a few things and leave! I will go by train. I am sorry, but I promise to return to you, my love. I just need a break, a different environment with new people," he said, arching his brows, trying to convince me that he really needed the break for the sake of his mental health and would definitely be back for me in no time.
I prayed to God that it shouldn't be real, but no! It was all real. He walked away in my face — not even a proper goodbye. He claims he loves me and I am his mate, but yet he didn't even look back at me while he left.
When I looked up in the sky, I saw a large broken star. Tears poured down my eyes. I was too weak and too emotional to transform. The pain was too much that I was totally humane and didn't even transform to growl out the anger and heaviness in my heart.
I remembered the diamond stone, but no! Not me calling him back when he didn't even care to look back at me once while he left. Something kept telling me that it wouldn't be easy to find the boy on my own, but I was enthusiastic about finding him. Even if it may be difficult, I was ready to go through it!
"Guide me through, my guiding star," I prayed and continued in the direction that the diamond stone led us.
Sungmin's POV
It was as if my heart would explode in no time. I felt it — the hurt. I hadn't felt like that in a very long time. I have made up my mind, and nothing was changing it.
I went to my apartment, not Dad's own. Angrily, I drew out my trolley bag, shaking off dust from it. After shoving in a few clothes, I landed it on the ground, its tiny wheels rattling noisily behind as I made my way to the train station.
The air was fresh, and the city buzzed quietly around me. I already started to enjoy the sweetness of a different atmosphere — an atmosphere that was free from attacks and a stuffy head!
When I arrived at the station, I walked straight to the ticket counter with my bag trolling behind me.
"Where to?" the staff asked politely.
I told them my destination and the time I wanted to leave. In a few minutes, my ticket was in my hand, showing my train number, car, and seat number.
I checked the large electronic board overhead for my platform, then made my way there. No stressful security lines — just a calm, organized crowd moving toward their trains.
I rolled my bag along the platform and waited until my train arrived. When it did, I boarded, placed my bag in the luggage area near the door, and settled into my seat, releasing a caged air through my lungs. I tried to calm my nerves.
The train took off smoothly, gliding through cities and countryside, while announcements came in both Korean and English. It was clean, peaceful, and perfectly timed.
I leaned back at my seat, exploring the comfort I got from the seat. I closed my eyes to catch a little nap.
