Chapter 1 - 001:

"What happened again?" Rory asked in a frustrated voice. He shot Jose a glare and ruffled his hair.

"I got fired because I was late" Jose said while bowing his head. "I was called for an audition at Vernon so I went..." He said with a hopeful tone. "I swear I got it! They were enjoying my music while I was playing" Jose reassured Rory. Rory heaved a deep sigh his eyes trailing on his struggling friend. He had a hard time finding Jose a job only for him to mess it up again.

He sighed once again and stared at Jose with defeated gaze. "I cannot help you again man. This is the 5th time already!" Rory said with an annoyed voice.

"I will congratulate you if you got the job but I cannot keep on helping you. My name has been tarnished because you continuously cause trouble to the people who gave you a job. I'm sorry but this is my limit. I hope you get that job but I'm done" Rory uttered in a defeated voice. He tapped Jose's back before turning around.

Jose nodded his head and picked up his guitar that was laying on the ground. He shot Rory a thankful look before exiting the establishment.

Rory stared at his friends slumped back while he walked down the busy street. He had given him a lot of chance to pick up his life but Jose just can't give up playing music. He tried to understand Jose's ambition and dreams. God knows how much he sacrificed to support his friend achieve his goal but he cannot continue to be there for him. He's already at his limit.

Jose's POV

I opened the door to my apartment. I carefully dropped my guitar on the side and plopped my whole body to the ground. My eyes lingering on the spot Rory used to sit during our jamming sessions.

It's hard to think that even Rory who promised he wont turn his back on me, ended up doing so. I tried living a normal life, working nine to five, putting on a mask for others to see but it's not me. They don't hear what I hear. They don't wake up with melodies tangled in their ribs, rhythms pulsing in their veins. To them, it's noise. A phase. To me? It's breath. It's blood. It's everything.

The fire in my heart keeps burning. The symphony keeps me up all night. It's not that I don't want to stop. Its the matter of I can't. These harmony keeps on tugging my heart. It won't stop unless I play so I do but they continuously expect me to give up. No, I can't give up. It will cause me to crazy. They don't get it. They think I'm being irresponsible or stubborn or in denial but these rhythms keeps me up. So I can never stop.
