Chapter 10 Meeting the Parents
"Of course, I love it, thank you Habby." Peter held the Switch (Game Console) Yang Le gave him, unable to put it down. "This is the latest game console this year, isn't it too expensive?"
Not to mention his own game console, Gwen's drumsticks also looked expensive. Although they had known each other for almost a month, they didn't know what Yang Le did for work and didn't really understand Yang Le's financial situation, so they were afraid of burdening Yang Le.
"It's okay, don't worry, Friend." Yang Le waved his hand dismissively. Yang Le really wasn't short of Money. Although he was penniless when he arrived, those street noodle vendors really weren't short of Money.
Moreover, Yang Le himself really didn't have many places to spend Money. For food, except for occasionally eating out at restaurants, he usually ate the Grain cultivated by Swampfire.
The Furniture was basically accumulated from Garbage by Grey Matter. Apart from initially catching fire suddenly or having some inexplicable functions, it was still quite useful.
Damn it, maybe I should rename Grey Matter to Goblin in the future.
In summary, Yang Le's life was quite comfortable. There was only one drawback, and that was Identity. Yang Le still didn't have a proper legal Identity. Originally, Yang Le wanted to rely on Goblin to solve it, but it wasn't his specialty. Goblin was only interested in inventions and creations (although not very reliable), and wasn't very good at Hacker stuff.
'If only I had Grey Matter.' Yang Le sighed in his heart more than once in these months.
"Peter, don't neglect your studies just because you have a new game console," Gwen reminded from the side.
"That's right, Peter, if your grades drop, Uncle Ben and Aunt May will definitely hate me," Yang Le chimed in from the side.
"Oh, Gwen, Habby, of course I know what's important." Facing the two who were pouring cold water on him, Peter put the game console into his Backpack and said helplessly.
The three of them joked and played along the way, walking towards the Apartment where Peter and Gwen lived.
"Hey! Gwen!" Just as they reached the Doorway of the Apartment, Gwen heard someone call her Name. The voice was too familiar, and even without turning her head, Gwen knew who was calling her.
"Dad!" Gwen turned her head back in surprise and looked at George standing in front of the Police car. "Why are you back so early today?"
"Of course, it's because I came back to hold a School Entrance Party for my little princess." George walked up to Gwen with a carefully wrapped Gift in his hand and said with a smile.
"Oh, Dad, don't be like that, it's too cheesy." Gwen hugged herself and shivered. George's words gave her Goosebumps.
George laughed and then noticed Peter and Yang Le standing behind Gwen.
"Aren't you going to introduce them?" George raised his hand to gesture.
Reminded by George, Gwen finally remembered and hurriedly pulled Yang Le to her side and introduced, "Dad, this is Yang Le, whom Peter and I mentioned to you before. We all call him Habby."
"Hello Mr. Stacy." Yang Le stretched out his right hand and said seriously. Whether it was the Movie Universe or the comic Universe, Mr. Stacy was a pedantic person. These kinds of people generally didn't like frivolous people.
In order to leave a good impression on George at their first meeting, Yang Le rarely acted so serious.
"Oh, hello, Yang Lu." George shook hands with Yang Le.
"Just call me Habby," Yang Le suggested proactively, seeing that George was struggling with the pronunciation of his Name.
"I'm sorry, I think my pronunciation must be strange." Hearing Yang Le's suggestion, George guessed that he must have mispronounced it.
"It's okay, I also like the Nickname Habby very much. After all, this Name was given to me by Gwen." Yang Le's intention was to let George know that he and Gwen had a very good relationship, but after hearing this sentence, George's expression became sharp.
"You mean this Name was given to you by Gwen?" George frowned slightly. A father's intuition told him that there must be something fishy about this.
"How is it? It sounds good, right? Because Habby's Name means happiness, so I gave him the Nickname Habby." Gwen chimed in from the side. Looking at her smiling face, she obviously really thought so.
'Hopefully, I'm overthinking it.' George looked at Gwen's carefree appearance and thought that maybe he was overthinking it.
"By the way, Gwen, this is for you, and this one is for you, Peter. Happy School Entrance Party." George handed the pink Gift Box in his hand to Gwen, and then handed another black Gift Box to Peter.
"Love you, Dad!" "Thank you, Uncle George."
Looking at the two who happily accepted the Gifts, George smiled and then clapped his hands and said, "Alright, kids, Uncle Ben and Aunt May are still preparing a sumptuous Dinner. Before Uncle Ben ruins everything, let's go upstairs and help Aunt May."
Under George's organization, everyone moved towards the Doorway of Peter's Home while talking and laughing.
"We're back!" As Peter took out the Key to open the Doorway, everyone filed in. As soon as they entered, they saw Uncle Ben standing at the Dining Table, arranging Dishes.
"Welcome back!" Uncle Ben looked at everyone with a smile. "Gwen, quickly go help May. If I go into the Kitchen again and make things worse, May will definitely kill me."
Gwen made an OK gesture, put her Backpack and Coat on the Sofa, rolled up her sleeves, and walked into the Kitchen.
"Ben! I told you not to come in again... Oh, it's Gwen. You've come just in time. You don't know, Ben almost ruined my Soup!"
Hearing Aunt May's reprimand from the Kitchen, Uncle Ben just pursed his lips, shrugged his shoulders, and pretended to be nonchalant.
"Uncle Ben, this is Habby, whom I told you about before," Peter introduced, trying hard to suppress his laughter in the face of Uncle Ben's funny antics.
"Hello Uncle Ben." Yang Le stretched out his hand and shook hands with Uncle Ben.
"Oh, hello Habby, Peter has been telling me about you. He likes you very much." Uncle Ben looked at Yang Le kindly.
"Of course, because we are good Friends." Peter put his arm around Yang Le's shoulder, but because of the height difference, Peter looked like he was hanging on Yang Le.
Looking at the two good buddies, Uncle Ben smiled with relief. Peter was an introverted child. If they weren't really close, Peter wouldn't have so much physical contact.
"Alright boys, Dinner is almost ready. Go wash your hands quickly. Children who don't wash their hands won't get to eat Pie."
"Okay, I'll go help serve the Dishes. Peter, take Habby to the Washroom to wash hands."
Peter took Yang Le and George to the Washroom to wash their hands. When they returned to the Restaurant, a sumptuous Meal was already laid out on the Dining Table.
"You must be Habby? I'm very glad you could come. I hope the Dishes are to your liking." Aunt May smiled kindly at Yang Le.
"To be honest, just smelling the aroma has already made my Index Finger twitch." Yang Le was telling the truth. Whether it was the Meal he made himself or the fast food in restaurants, none of them looked as delicious as Aunt May's Dishes.
"Okay, quickly sit down. I can't wait any longer," Gwen waved at Yang Le and the others.
