Emilia's heart skipped a beat as Alexander's words hung in the air. She felt a shiver run down her spine as she realized the gravity of their situation.
"What makes you think that?" Thomas asked, his voice low and cautious.
Alexander's eyes locked onto Thomas's, his expression serious. "I've been noticing strange occurrences around the manor," he said. "Doors creaking open, objects moving on their own. I think someone – or something – is trying to send us a message."
Emilia's eyes widened as she thought back to the strange noises she had heard in the manor. She had dismissed them as mere creaks and groans of an old building, but now she wasn't so sure.
"What kind of message?" Emilia asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Alexander's eyes locked onto hers, his expression grim. "A warning," he said. "A warning that we're getting close to something we shouldn't be messing with."
Thomas's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched. "We can't let them intimidate us," he said. "We have to keep digging."
Emilia nodded, her determination renewed. "Thomas is right," she said. "We can't let fear stop us from uncovering the truth."
Alexander's eyes locked onto hers, a small smile playing on his lips. "I like your spirit," he said. "But we need to be careful. We don't know what we're up against."
As they continued to discuss their plan of action, Emilia couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched. She glanced around the room, but saw nothing out of the ordinary. Still, the feeling persisted.
Suddenly, a loud creak echoed through the hallway outside the library. Emilia's heart skipped a beat as she turned to Alexander. "What was that?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Alexander's eyes locked onto hers, his expression serious. "I think it's time we got to work," he said. "We have a lot to uncover, and not a lot of time to waste."
