Lumine clenched her fists. She had grown stronger once again.
She was one step closer to rescuing her sister.
Meanwhile, Zephyr was at a loss for words.
"Level 3… after all this time? Leveling up is way too slow!"
"It took me this many days just to reach Level 3. Then… how long would it take to hit Level 90?! How many Hilichurls would I have to kill?!"
He seriously wondered—if he wiped out every single Hilichurl on the continent, would he even reach Level 90?
In the game, grinding monsters didn't give much EXP, but at least there were EXP materials, quests, and event rewards to speed things up.
But now?
Nothing.
The only way to level up was pure manual grinding.
At this rate, he'd never hit max level.
Still, Zephyr kept his complaints to himself and turned to Amber.
"Amber, are you okay?"
"I'm fine! I'm an archer—danger is my middle name! But what about you? Did you get hurt?"
"I'm fine."
"Liar! I definitely saw a Hilichurl hit you just now. Let me see—how bad is it?"
Amber hurried over and examined him.
"Hmm… okay, not too bad. But you probably lost at least 10 HP. Here, eat this to recover!"
She pulled out a crispy, golden-brown pastry wrapped in cloth from her pocket.
"This is…?"
"Ta-da! Allow me to introduce… Mondstadt Hash Browns! A miraculous dish that restores HP!"
Food in Teyvat was special—eating it could restore health, a fact everyone knew.
Mondstadt Hash Browns:
🔹 Restores 34% of max HP
🔹 Heals an additional 1,900 HP
Paimon gasped, "Whoa! That much HP?!"
Lumine hesitated. "But… I only have about 200 HP. Wouldn't this be a waste?"
Amber quickly reassured her, "No way! Food is meant to be eaten! If you don't eat it, it'll get sad!"
"Pfft—what am I, a three-year-old?"
Despite her words, Lumine felt warm inside.
Paimon, meanwhile, was eyeing the hash brown hungrily.
"Hey, Traveler, are you eating that or not? If you don't, Paimon totally will!"
"Who said I wasn't eating it?" Lumine took a small bite.
Crispy on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside—it was delicious.
"Amber, thank you!"
"No need to thank me! Actually, freshly made Mondstadt Hash Browns are even better! This one's already gone a bit stale. When we get back to Mondstadt, I'll treat you to a fresh batch!"
"Sounds good!"
Ding…
Paimon stared intensely at the hash brown.
Lumine sighed and handed her half. "Here, take some."
"Traveler, you're such a good person!" Paimon chomped down eagerly. "Mmm, so good!"
Lumine suddenly thought of something.
"Amber, why do you keep food in your pocket?"
Amber tilted her head. "Because I was only going out for half a day, so I didn't bring my backpack!"
Lumine said, "That's not what I meant. I meant—don't you have storage space? Like a spatial ring or something?"
"Storage space? What's that? Some kind of special spatial ability? Nope, nope, I definitely don't have anything that magical. Even the gods might not have such a thing—how could I possibly have it?"
"...Is that so…"
Paimon wiped her mouth and said, "Traveler, do you really think everyone in Teyvat is as special as you?"
Amber tilted her head. "What are you guys talking about? I don't get it. Anyway—the treasure chest! I almost forgot! Traveler, hurry up and open it!"
"Treasure chest?"
Lumine's eyes lit up.
She wasn't particularly interested in most things, but treasure chests? Those were a different story.
The two worked together to pry open the heavy chest.
A golden glow burst out, nearly blinding them with its brilliance.
"This is…!"
Treasure Obtained:
- Hunter's Bow ×1
- Fine Enhancement Ore ×5
- Traveling Doctor's Pocket Watch ×1 (⭐ White)
- Lucky Dog's Hourglass ×1 (⭐ White)
- Enhancement Ore ×3
- Anemo Sigil ×1
- Mora ×982
Paimon cheered, "Wow! So many treasures!"
Amber was equally excited. "Looks like today's trip was totally worth it!"
Zephyr, however, remained silent.
He couldn't hold back anymore.
"Wait, are you guys seriously this excited?"
Paimon blinked. "Huh? Why wouldn't we be? Look at all this loot!"
"You call this loot?!"
Amber frowned, a bit confused. "Lumine, why do you sound so…"
Paimon whispered, "It's a different person now."
Amber's face turned red, and she quickly lowered her head, mumbling something incomprehensible.
"Wait, so these aren't treasures?"
"I… never mind."
For adventurers in this world, this probably really was considered treasure.
Sensing the awkward atmosphere, Paimon changed the subject.
"By the way, why were Hilichurls here in the first place?
They usually don't set up camps this close to the city, right?"
Amber nodded. "Exactly. They're supposed to roam the wilderness, not gather near towns. But ever since Stormterror appeared, the orchards were destroyed, and trade routes were affected.
"On top of that, the Knights of Favonius are spread thin, dealing with injuries from all the recent storms."
"So… with the knights distracted, these annoying creatures expanded their territory?"
"Yep! But at least we took out another camp today. If we keep going, we can clear them all out soon enough!"
"Now, follow me—a responsible knight must personally escort you into the city!"
As if a familiar BGM had started playing in their minds, the group finally arrived at the both familiar and unfamiliar city of Mondstadt.
Looking at Mondstadt before her, Lumine couldn't help but sigh in admiration.
"It's so magnificent…"
Even Zephyr nodded in agreement.
Back in the game, Mondstadt wasn't that big—you could run across it in just a few minutes.
But now?
Mondstadt was massive, with towering bell towers, grand architecture—this was what a real city should look like!
From the cathedral, a faint and beautiful song drifted through the air, filling the heart with peace and tranquility.
"This is Mondstadt!"
"...But wait, where's Timmie?"
Zephyr felt a bit disappointed.
Amber stepped forward, smiling with pride.
"Allow me to formally introduce—
The City of Wind and Dandelions, the City of Freedom!
Travelers under the protection of the Knights of Favonius,
Welcome to Mondstadt!"
Paimon cheered, "Yay! No more sleeping in the wild!"
The streets were bustling with people, a sight that left Lumine and Paimon amazed.
But soon, Paimon noticed something.
"Wow, there are so many people here! But… why does everyone look so exhausted?"
Amber sighed. "It's because of Stormterror. But don't worry—as long as Jean is here, everything will be fine."
"Jean?"
"Acting Grand Master Jean of the Knights of Favonius—and the protector of Mondstadt.
As long as she's with us, I believe we can overcome even disasters like Stormterror!"
Amber's voice was filled with absolute faith and admiration for Jean.
And honestly, she wasn't wrong—Jean was incredibly capable, playing a key role in the events to come.
"Anyway, before we head to the Knights of Favonius headquarters, I have a gift for you!"
Paimon perked up. "W-Wait! If there are gifts, shouldn't everyone get one? Why don't I get a gift?!"
"Uh… because I don't think Paimon really needs this kind of thing."
Paimon huffed. "Hmph! How do you know?! 'You are not a bird, how could you know the joys of a bird?'"
Lumine blinked. "Paimon, that saying is actually— 'You are not a fish, how could you know the joys of a fish?' Not a bird."
"Ahem! Of course, Paimon knew that! Paimmon was just… testing you!"
Amber giggled and blinked playfully.
"But even if I gave it to you Paimon, I don't think you'd be able to use it… Buuut, tonight, I'll treat you to Mondstadt's famous Honey-Glazed Carrot Buns!"
Paimon's eyes lit up instantly.
"Honey-Glazed Carrot Buns~~!"
