Ken's heart pounded like a drum. Panic surged through him as he bolted to the door, snatching his phone and calling the emergency number.
In a trembling voice, he gasped, "Please… send the Toximancers!"
A calm voice responded, "What's your location?"
Ken turned around, eyes wide in horror. The dire wolves were right behind him—one of them licking his hand with a hungry growl, its eyes glowing with a savage glint.
Shocked, Ken yanked the door open and sprinted out. "I'm on the main road! I'm being chased by dire wolves!" he shouted into the phone.
The emergency operator's voice cracked with urgency, "Oh no—that's bad. Stay alive! I'm dispatching the Toximancers immediately!"
Ken ran for his life, but when he looked back, dread gripped him. The dire wolves were fast—too fast. Their speed was inhuman. He wouldn't last long. They were going to eat him alive.
Then, as if fate hadn't played enough cruel tricks, a glowing object streaked across the sky.
"A meteor? Seriously?!" Ken shouted, eyes wide. "Why me?!"
Sweat poured down his face. His legs were burning. His heart thundered. But the moment he turned to run again—
SNAP!
A dire wolf lunged and sank its fangs into his back. Pain exploded through his body. Ken screamed.
---
Later…
Ken opened his eyes slowly. White walls. A beeping monitor. Bandages wrapped around his chest and arms.
"Where… am I?" he muttered weakly.
A nurse smiled gently. "You're safe now, kiddo. The Toximancers saved you just in time."
Ken exhaled in relief. "When can I… go home?"
"Tomorrow, if you rest well."
Ken nodded faintly. "Okay…"
He glanced at his arm—it was wrapped in layers of bandages. Flashes of memory hit him.
The Past—
Those wolves… they nearly ripped his arm clean off.
The Present—
He clenched his jaw. I'm lucky the doctors saved me…

Scene Shift—Toximancer HQ
Inside a towering building, a dimly lit room was filled with documents, monster photos, and glowing monitors. A serious man, around 45, sat at a desk, analyzing images of various beasts.
A knock on the door broke the silence.
"May I come in, sir?" a voice asked.
"Enter," the man replied, eyes locked on the screen.
Tachibana, a young officer, stepped in. "Sir, we need more Toximancers. We're running low."
The man sighed. "You're right, Tachibana. But fewer people in Japan are awakening powers. It's not their fault."
"But we can't just sit like statues either," Tachibana said firmly.
The man finally turned to face him. "Then it's time. Contact other countries. We'll offer whatever it takes. Public safety comes first."

Scene Shift—Ken's Home
Ken sat on his couch, exhausted.
"Why is it always me?" he muttered. "First a snake on the train… then wolves… and now a meteor."
He let out a deep breath. "I don't know if I'll survive the next time. Guess I just have to hope the Toximancers show up again..."
---
Meanwhile…
Back at HQ, new citizens arrived, reporting that they felt strange—like poison flowed inside them.
Tachibana watched with concern.

Back to Ken
Ken poured water into his instant ramen. Suddenly—sizzle! The water hissed. Ken stared in horror.
Acid dripped from his mouth.
Eyes wide, he gasped, "Wait… that was acid? That means… I've got powers?!"
He leaped up, grinning. "YEAH! No more boring shop work—I'm gonna be a Toximancer!"
Scene Shift — The Shop
The shop owner sat behind the cashier counter, casually flipping through a newspaper. He muttered to himself, "These strange cracks… monsters coming out of nowhere… the world's becoming too dangerous."
Ding! The door opened as Ken stepped inside.
The shop owner didn't notice at first, still lost in the paper. "Monsters in parks now… What a mess."
Ken cleared his throat. "Mister."
The shop owner glanced up—and his eyes widened. "Ken?! You're back? I heard you were hospitalized!"
Ken gave a faint smile. "Yeah… I was. But I'm fine now."
The shop owner stood up slowly, concerned. "That's good to hear, kid. You sure you're okay?"
Ken took a deep breath. "Listen, Mister… I came here to say—I'm quitting. I won't be working here anymore."
The shop owner blinked. "Quitting? But… why?"
Ken's eyes gleamed with quiet pride. "I awakened."
The shop owner stared, stunned. "No way… You mean—you're becoming a Toximancer?!"
Ken nodded firmly. "Yeah."
After a long pause, the shop owner gave a small, proud smile. "Well then… go make something of yourself, Ken."
Ken turned around, stepping out of the shop. As the sunlight hit his face, he looked up at the sky and said with a grin, "Time to make real money… and a real difference."
Scene Shift — The Park
At a nearby park, children laughed and played near the flowerbeds.
Unseen by any of them, a small crack appeared in the earth beneath the flowers. Faint green light shimmered from within.
The petals near the crack wilted, and seconds later—shadows emerged.
Small, twisted figures with pointed ears and jagged teeth crawled out silently. They gripped crude weapons—tiny axes, rusted swords, and daggers. Their eyes gleamed with mischief and malice.
One by one, ten of them crept out, hiding in the bushes.
The children kept playing, unaware of the lurking danger.
The creatures crouched silently in the bushes, yellow eyes glowing like burning coals. They watched the laughing children with eerie stillness, their claws tightening around their crude weapons.
The kids remained unaware—running around, tossing a ball, climbing on the play structures. Laughter echoed in the air, pure and carefree.
Just a few feet away, their parents sat on nearby benches, chatting and smiling. One of the mothers poured juice for her toddler. A father showed vacation photos on his phone. None of them noticed the crack in the earth… or the creatures lurking nearby.
Those beings didn't move yet. They waited… watched… like predators studying prey.
Their thin bodies twitched with anticipation. One of them licked its jagged teeth. Another raised its tiny axe ever so slightly—ready to charge at any moment.
But something… or someone… was about to interrupt them.
