Chapter 11 - Open the door

Lin Qiye was truly exhausted.

Both mentally and physically.

He really hadn't expected that such a thing would happen on his first day of transferring. Encountering monsters, being betrayed by his classmates, having a thrilling battle, opening his eyes inexplicably, and then a superman uncle appearing out of nowhere and his own sneaking away...

Lin Qiye wasn't stupid. He knew that his experience tonight definitely involved the hidden side of this world. The monster that ate people's faces, the golden light that emerged from his body, and the man who single-handedly took down the monster.

That man wasn't an ordinary person. And judging from his report on the walkie-talkie, there must be a huge organization behind him. This organization might be hidden in the world and specifically deal with such strange events.

He saw the light on his body, and maybe he even saw the scene of him killing the monster alone. So he wanted to recruit him...

It would be a lie to say that he wasn't curious about the hidden side at all. He wanted to know what exactly he had encountered tonight and what had happened to him. But he didn't want to be drawn into this whirlpool because of his curiosity.

Once some secrets were known, it would be impossible to get away from them.

He didn't want to be a hero who protected humanity. What he wanted to protect...

Was only his own family.

Soon, he sank into a dream.

...

The familiar fog descended again.

Lin Qiye in the dream looked around and let out a helpless sigh. "You still won't let me go? I fought monsters when I was awake, and now you come knocking when I'm asleep. I'm so unlucky..."

Lin Qiye walked a few steps with ease. Soon, the outline of a psychiatric hospital appeared in front of him.

On the ancient plaque on the right side, there was a line of big characters engraved.

—The Psychiatric Hospital of the Gods.

Lin Qiye walked up to the gate and stood still. He reached out to grab the ring in front of the door. The moment his fingertips touched the ring, the entire ground trembled slightly!

The surrounding fog suddenly churned.

Lin Qiye held the ring, looking completely confused.

What the hell? I haven't even knocked yet. Why is it shaking already?

It wasn't like this before?

Suddenly, an idea flashed through his mind like lightning.

Could it be because... he opened his eyes today?

Lin Qiye lowered his head and looked at his body in the dream. His eyes gradually lit up.

In the past, Lin Qiye's body in the dream was semi-transparent, as fragile as the drifting fog.

But today, his body was obviously much more solid. Although it still didn't have a real body, it was no longer transparent.

He suddenly raised his head and looked at the door in front of him that had blocked him for five years. His gaze became more and more intense.

Today... maybe it's possible!

He took a deep breath, tightly gripped the ring in his hand, and slammed it against the door!

"Dang——!"

The ancient bell sound came from inside the psychiatric hospital, several times louder than before. Fortunately, Lin Qiye didn't have a real body now, or his eardrums would definitely hurt from the shock.

The moment the bell sounded, the entire psychiatric hospital trembled violently again!

There's hope! Lin Qiye's eyes lit up.

"Dang——!"

"Dang——!!"

"Dang——!!!"

Lin Qiye didn't stop. He knocked three more times in a row, and the psychiatric hospital shook as if there was an earthquake!

Finally, after the last knock, a loud noise came from inside the psychiatric hospital, and then everything returned to silence...

Just as Lin Qiye was about to knock again, the door in front of him let out a dull creaking sound and began to move slowly.

The door opened.

"Whir——Dong!"

After the door was completely opened, an ancient and dim corridor appeared in front of Lin Qiye.

The ground of the corridor was made of some unknown material, emitting a faint fluorescent light. There were also burning balls of light hanging on the surrounding walls, which were mysterious and strange.

Lin Qiye walked along this corridor. Soon, a fork in the road appeared, and there was a modern-looking road sign hanging above the fork.

"To the left is the ward area, and to the right is the activity area..." Lin Qiye murmured as he looked at the road sign. "This layout is exactly the same as the psychiatric hospital I lived in back then?"

Lin Qiye hesitated for a moment and then walked into the activity area first.

There weren't many rooms in the activity area, but all the necessary facilities were there. There was a multimedia room for watching TV and movies, a lounge for playing chess and having fun, a study for reading and studying... There was even a circular open-air lawn inside the building, with various sports equipment placed on it.

"Sure enough, it's exactly the same. This dream is really strange." Lin Qiye frowned and shook his head in confusion.

After finishing his tour of the activity area, he turned around and walked towards the ward area on the other side.

When he reached the entrance of the ward area, Lin Qiye suddenly stopped.

"Something is different here." Lin Qiye murmured as he looked at the dark and monotonous corridor in front of him.

He clearly remembered that in the Sunshine Psychiatric Hospital before, the wards were on several floors, and although the facilities weren't very advanced, they were at least clean and tidy.

But the ward area in front of Lin Qiye now was only on one floor, and there were only six rooms.

The doors of these six rooms were covered with strange symbols and patterns, densely packed, like some kind of seal. Just looking at them made Lin Qiye dizzy.

Lin Qiye forcefully shifted his gaze away from the door, steadied his mind, and looked elsewhere.

On the upper right side of the ward, there was an ancient nameplate hanging. Each room nameplate had a pattern on it, all different from each other.

For example, in Room 1 where Lin Qiye was standing now, the nameplate had a big black circle drawn on it.

And the nameplate of Room 2 had something that looked like a staff or a pen drawn on it.

Lin Qiye walked along the corridor until he reached the last Room 6, but he still didn't have any clue from looking at these nameplates.

He looked at the strange door in front of him and fell into deep thought.

In this psychiatric hospital in the dream, only the ward area was different from the Sunshine Psychiatric Hospital in his memory.

So, were there really patients living in these wards?

Or was it really as the name of this psychiatric hospital suggested, that what was inside were... gods?

Lin Qiye hesitated for a moment and then slowly reached out his hand towards the doorknob of Room 6.

It wasn't that Lin Qiye was reckless. On the one hand, this was his dream. Even if something went wrong, it wouldn't have a big impact on him. On the other hand, in order to enter this psychiatric hospital, he had knocked on the door day after day for five years. He didn't want to leave just like that, still confused.

And in his subconscious mind, he felt that perhaps there were some secrets related to himself in this psychiatric hospital?

Otherwise, why was the layout exactly the same as the Sunshine Psychiatric Hospital he had lived in?

Lin Qiye's hand gradually approached, and his fingertips gently touched the doorknob. A slightly cool feeling was transmitted.

There was no repulsive force or stinging pain as he had imagined. His hand naturally grasped the doorknob.

Lin Qiye pulled hard!

The door didn't move at all.

He stood still, used all his strength, and pulled again!

It still didn't move.

Lin Qiye gave up on this door and walked to the door of Room 5 instead, pulling the door with all his might.

It still couldn't be opened.

Room 4, Room 3, Room 2...

Lin Qiye tried one room after another. None of the doors could be opened. Finally, he walked to the door of Room 1.

With the mentality of certain failure, Lin Qiye pulled the door of Room 1 hard.

"Click——!"

A soft sound came from the doorknob. The complex patterns and designs engraved on the door suddenly broke and then gradually dissipated into the air.

Lin Qiye was startled and took several steps back, staring fixedly ahead!

The door opened.
