Master Goo's confession left Yi Shi-Woon with a mixture of shock and a new sense of responsibility. Knowing that his master was such an important and conflicting figure in the Murim completely changed the perspective of his training. It was no longer just about learning to defend himself against bullying at school, but about preparing for a much more complex and dangerous world, a world where his master's legacy would inevitably catch up with him.
Over the next few days, the relationship between Shi-woon and Master Goo underwent a subtle but significant change. The barrier of secrecy that had previously existed between them had dissipated, replaced by greater openness and honesty. Master Goo seemed more willing to share his experiences and knowledge, and Shi-woon listened with renewed attention, aware of the depth of wisdom his teacher possessed.
The training became more intense, but also more personalized. Master Goo focused on the areas where Shi-Woon showed the greatest potential, honing his techniques and strengthening his understanding of ki. He also taught him more advanced movements, techniques that required greater concentration and control.
"Now that you know more about my past," Master Goo said one afternoon as they practiced a series of quick strikes, "you must understand that your training is not just for your own protection. By being associated with me, you have become a potential target for my enemies."
The warning didn't scare Shi-Woon as much as it might have before. His conversation with Sera Kang and Master Goo's subsequent confession had prepared him for this reality.
"I understand, Master," Shi-Woon replied firmly. "I'm willing to do whatever it takes to protect myself and you."
Master Goo nodded, a look of approval in his eyes. "That's the attitude, boy. But bravery without skill is useless. You must continue to train diligently and learn to control your power."
From that day on, Master Goo began teaching Shi-Woon some of the basic techniques of the Nine Dragon Arts, the legendary fighting style that had made him famous among the Murim. The movements were incredibly complex and required coordination and body control that Shi-Woon could barely imagine. But with his master's patient guidance, he began to take his first steps toward mastering this powerful martial art.
They also discussed the Azure Dragon Tablet further. Master Goo explained that, although he no longer actively sought it, many others in the Murim did, and his past involvement with the artifact had made him a constant target.
"The tablet itself isn't the problem," Master Goo explained. "It's the power it represents and the greed it inspires in people. Many believe it contains the secrets to achieving unlimited strength, but in reality, it only leads to destruction."
Shi-Woon listened intently, trying to understand the complexity of the power struggles within the Murim. He realized that his training was preparing him for something much bigger than simple street fights. He was being introduced to a world of intrigue, secret alliances, and constant danger.
Despite the seriousness of the situation, Shi-Woon didn't feel overwhelmed. Master Goo's honesty and the trust he placed in him motivated him to push himself even further. He felt like he had finally found his place, a purpose that went beyond simply surviving day to day. He was learning to be strong, not only physically but also mentally and spiritually. The weight of his master's legacy was a burden, but also a motivation to excel and live up to expectations. He knew the road ahead would be difficult, but for the first time in his life, he felt ready to face it.
