Chapter 18 - Brother’s Instinct

The station buzzed with routine.Paperwork. Radio chatter. Reports.

But Levan's mind wasn't there.

His fingers hovered above his keyboard, unmoving. His thoughts kept drifting home.To her.

Alea.

She'd been quiet lately.Too quiet. The kind of quiet that didn't feel peaceful—it felt broken.

She barely touched her food. She smiled without her eyes. She answered with one-word replies.

He remembered when they were kids. She'd talk for hours about flowers, stars, and dreams. Now?

Just silence.

"Something wrong?" his partner, Officer Juno, asked.

Levan blinked. "No. I mean... yeah. My sister."

"She's the calm one, right?"

Levan chuckled weakly. "Yeah. Too calm."

He thought back to her last words before leaving the dinner table the night before.

"I'm tired. School's just... tiring."

But her eyes said more. Her body was shrinking into itself. Her soul was somewhere far.

And Levan knew that look.

It was the same look he hadright before he turned into a monster.

"Please don't hide from me, Alea," he whispered to no one.

He turned in his chair, opened his old gang files, and pulled up names.

Selia.Mireya.Sasha.Nina.

"If you're hurting her," he muttered coldly,"I swear to God, I'll bury you in paperwork... or worse."

Outside, the sky rumbled.

And in the silence of a brother's instinct,a storm began to form.

To be continued...
