Stella started to think quickly. What was the fastest way to get rid of this pair of twins so that they would never have the chance to meet Leo?
"You're so ugly! Mommy said before that people who tell lies end up with long noses and then they become an ugly old hag. You are as terrifying as the old hag in the story that Mommy tells us!" Kayla voiced out.
She was an ugly old hag? The more furious and agitated Stella became, the faster her contractions increased in intensity. She could even feel the trickling of blood down her thighs and this frightened her. Her face turned white as paper as she let loose another scream. Gesturing for her bodyguard to support her body, Stella started crying out, "Doctor, where's the doctor?"
She had fooled around too much before her marriage to Xavier and because of this, she had accidentally gotten pregnant many times with her numerous sexual partners. As a result of her multiple abortions, it had been difficult for her to become pregnant after marrying Xavier. She couldn't let anything happen to this unborn baby, otherwise, she might not be able to conceive again.
The bodyguard who had been sent to look for a doctor had returned finally. A doctor and nurse were running behind him. Together, they lifted Stella onto a gurney and hurriedly wheeled her into the hospital.
"Just you wait, Zoey! I'll not let you off if anything happens to my baby!" Stella could still yell out a warning to Zoey even as she was being wheeled into the hospital.
Zoey's face darkened. It was truly impossible to expect Stella to have changed for the better. Stella was already in labor but instead of focusing on her unborn child, Stella could still find the energy to threaten her.
The little girl had a cute frown on her sweet face as she said, "That old hag is really such a horrible person! Kayden, let's teach her a lesson after she gives birth."
The little boy nodded his head in agreement. "OK."
Zoey could not help but smile when she heard the exchange between her kids. The heaviness that she had been feeling ever since meeting Stella lifted because of them.
Kayla lifted her head to look at Zoey and asked in a girly voice, "Mommy, is this old hag the same person who bullied you in the past?"
Kayla had seen the photos Zoey kept on her social media account. Along with a photo of Stella, there was a caption referring to Stella as the most disgusting person Zoey had ever met. Hence, Kayla could remember Stella vividly.
Zoey smiled and raised a hand to softly pinch Kayla's cheeks. "You're such a clever girl, Kayla."
Kayla responded by bobbing her head proudly and said, "Yes, I am!"
Kayla had a cheeky glint in her eyes as she leaned over to Kayden and whispered for a while. "OK, Kayden? That's what we're going to do." Kayla giggled as she clapped
her hands gleefully.
But Kayden was noncommittal to what Kayla had said to him.
Zoey was used to her kids' frequent whisperings and knew that whenever this happened, it meant that they were up to mischief. And clearly, Stella was their target this time.
Suddenly, a soft screech could be heard sounding from not far behind them.
Zoey turned her head toward the noise and about fifteen feet from them, six or seven luxury cars had stopped by the roadside. She wondered who it could be arriving at the hospital in such a grand manner.
Kayla pointed excitedly towards the first car and exclaimed, "Mommy, Kayden, that's the latest model - Cullinan. It's a limited edition!"
Kayla loved collecting limited editions of car models and so, was very knowledgeable about cars. Kayden was no different as a rare look of excitement replaced his usual aloofness.
Seeing how excited her kids were, Zoey couldn't help but become curious about the identity of the car's owner. She started to wonder if it was possible to ask for a favor from its owner and to have her kids touch the car.
But before she could do anything, the passenger door to the Cullinan opened and a man started to get out. They first saw a pair of leather shoes, followed by a pair of long legs. Soon, they could see the rest of the man - a well-built body and a very striking, attractive-looking face.
When Zoey saw the man's face, she caught her breath and her eyes widened. Her hand flew unconsciously to her chest as she swore. She had never seen a man this handsome. The man had chiseled features and a pair of dark, sparkling eyes that seemed to radiate a fierce, uncompromising intelligence and dominance. His eyes were framed by long lashes that seemed to curl slightly. His nose bridge was high and straight and his thin, ruddy lips were slightly upturned. The man was tall, about six foot two, and had the golden proportion of a model's body. With his perfect model- like body, the well-pressed tailored suit on him looked impeccable. He totally looked like an aristocrat with his regal bearing.
But what had astonished Zoey was not just this man's looks, but how closely her kids resembled him. Kayden's eyes, especially, were a mirror image to this man's.
Zoey couldn't help but wondered if this man was the stranger that she had slept with many years ago. Zoey felt a stirring in her heart as she thought about the possibility. If it really was this man, her kids would no longer be called illegal children by others. They would finally have a father.
Kayla moved closer to Kayden and asked softly, "Kayden, this guy looks a lot like us. Could he be our daddy?"
Kayden swept his cold gaze over Leo Yancey, who happened to look toward them as he overheard what Kayla had said. Their eyes met and a surprised look briefly appeared on Leo's face.
"Wow! Leo, since when do you have a kid this big? I've not even heard about it," a
man's voice rang out as Leo and Kayden were still staring at each other.
Leo turned sideways and cast a cold look at the man who had made the comment before he snapped, "Shut up!"
Zachary Lawson made a zipping gesture to his lips in response to Leo and walked over to Kayden and asked, "Little boy, tell me, are you the illegitimate child of my friend here?"
After hearing Zachary's question, Kayden looked at him as though he was an idiot. Ignoring Zachary, Kayden walked over to Leo and raising his head to look at him. He asked directly, "Are you my father?"
Leo had many ways to make a person shut up if this question came from someone else. But when Leo looked at the little boy in front of him, a little boy who resembled him so closely, he felt a sudden tugging in his heart.
Leo put a hand in his pocket as he said to Kayden, "I don't remember having a son."
Kayden tilted his head and motioned towards Zoey. "My mommy said years ago, she fell into a ruse and slept with a stranger in a hotel. That's how she had me and my sister."
A hotel? A one-night stand?
Leo thought about how seven years ago, he had fallen into a trap laid by a business rival. Under the influence of the drug used on him, he had sex with an unknown woman. When he woke up the next morning, the woman was gone and all that was left was a patch of blood on the bedsheets.
Perhaps it was because Leo had taken that woman's virginity that he felt a rare sense of responsibility toward her. He had sent men to investigate the identity of the woman but to no success. The footage from the hotel's surveillance cameras had been deleted.
Leo vaguely remembered that the woman had a good figure and he felt very comfortable holding her in his arms. Until now, he had not found another woman who could spark an interest in him when compared to that woman.
Could this be the woman from that night? Xavier thought as his gaze fell on Zoey.
Zachary crossed his arms in front of his chest and regarded Zoey excitedly." Oh my! Leo, is this the woman you've been hiding from everyone all this time?"
Leo glanced at Zachary before walking over to Zoey and asking candidly, "On the first of December at 2:00 am seven years ago, were you at the Grand Noble Hotel in room number two zero two eight?"
There was a flicker in Zoey's eyes as she was startled by the man's candidness. Seven years ago, when she woke up to find herself next to a stranger, she had been in so much shock that her immediate response was to put on her clothes and flee. She was hardly in any condition to note the room number.
Zoey decided to be frank and say, "I was at the hotel, but I cannot recall the room number."
She had hoped to find the man who had fathered her kids. But when she saw how distinguished and regal Leo was, and the bodyguards that surrounded him, she began to question if a man like Leo would be a suitable father to her children.
