Chapter 4 - You look terrible

Noha hurried towards the store where he worked on Thursday mornings, the cold wind crashed against his face, he could feel his cheeks burning with every step he took forward. His body, still sore from the fall, was slowly recovering, his eyes still felt tired, he was lucky to have gotten out of bed. The streets were still empty, and some people were going back and forth, from the subway station towards all parts of the city. The store wasn't far from the hotel, right at the entrance was Kai.

Kai was one of Noha's few close friends, they had become friends after coinciding in a couple of jobs. Kai was the opposite of Noha, always full of energy and with a smile on his face that could light up a stadium. They had become friends because Kai understood Noha's personality and didn't ask unnecessary questions, they could hang out talking about anything without it being awkward, they both lived in the capital, without anyone else, although Noha wouldn't admit it, he felt a great affection for Kai.

"I haven't seen you for a couple of days and you come back a mess! What the hell happened to you?" Kai said with a surprised voice as he combed his hair back with his hand.

"It's not a big deal," Noha mentioned as he entered the store straight to the staff room.

"Oh god, what happened to your arm?" Kai blurted out as he grabbed his arm.

"It was just a little fall, stop wasting time and get to work."

"The last thing I knew about you was that you were going to a hotel, and you show up here as if a bulldozer ran over you."

"Tsk," Noha just clicked his tongue while rolling his eyes and mimicking him with a silly face.

The morning passed quickly, although Kai didn't leave Noha alone for a moment, making ridiculous jokes about his current state. It was normal for him to behave that way, although Noha could notice how when he wasn't looking, he watched him with concern, luckily for Noha he didn't ask any uncomfortable questions, he didn't want to talk about anything, just focus on his work.

At the end of the day, Kai approached Noha, with a face that said he wanted to say something.

"What's wrong?" He said, looking at Kai with weariness.

"Nothing, it's just that, I know you're not well right now, but I imagine you need the money. There are some guys who want us to do a job at a big party this Friday, do you want to come with us?"

"I'm fine Kai, stop, of course I'll go, I have a huge hospital bill to pay." The job suited him well, if he rested enough, he would be as good as new by Friday.

"I'll send you the information, now I have to go, I have to work tonight, please stay away from bulldozers," Kai couldn't help but laugh at his joke.

Noha watched the tall man with brown hair and green eyes walk away happily as always, the city lights began to turn on, the sun finished hiding, only a few orange rays adorned the sky.
