Chapter 2 - Star Skills

Under Xie Yanwen guidance, Class 7 of the first years quickly arrived at the Star Skills Library, where they were met by the administrator.

After a short exchange, the administrator distributed a palm-sized, pitch-black card to each student.

Xie Yanwen stood to the side and explained:

"The card in your hand is called a Star Skill Card. It can only be used once. After choosing your star skills, use the card to exchange it.

Once you've made your selection, do not linger—leave the library immediately. If you stay too long, you'll lose your right to select next time."

Upon hearing her warning, all the students nodded earnestly.

Most of them were from common backgrounds. To them, this was an extremely rare opportunity. Outside the academy, even the cheapest Star skills would cost tens of thousands of Star Coins. Wasting this chance would be like tossing gold into the ocean.

As the library opened, the students rushed in, each eager to find a skills suited to their superpowers. Gu Zhen followed right behind.

The first floor of the Star Skills Library mainly held F and E-rank skills, with a few scattered D-rank ones—most of which belonged to the Elemental category.

Star Techniques were categorized into three branches: Elemental, Physical, and Special. However, this floor held none of the rare Special-type techniques.

Helpless, Gu Zhen turned his attention to the Physical-type skills.

Physical Star skills had no strict learning conditions, though those with related body-type characteristics could unleash their full potential.

As Gu Zhen entered the Physical section, he noticed quite a few other students browsing the same area.

Among the four superpowers types, Elemental was the most common, followed by Transformation, then Physical and Special-type was the rarest of all.

In terms of power:

Transformation types were considered the most formidable overall.

Elemental superpowers were the most widespread.

But Special-type superpowers were undoubtedly the most mysterious and potent.

Special-type superpowers are extremely rare, but they often have unexpected effects, including some exceptionally top-tier superpowers. Just like the Realm 6 powerhouse who led humanity to overthrow the Xing family three hundred years ago, his superpowers was a top-tier special-type superpowers.

After searching the physical-technique-type star skills section for a while, Gu Zhen set his sights on an E-rank star skills called 'Instant Step'

Its effect was simple: by consuming star power, it allowed a star warrior to burst into extremely high speed in an instant, though it couldn't be used multiple times in a short period.

Gu Zhen looked around for a long time and found that, among the physical--type star skills, this one suited him best.

Quite a few other students were also choosing this star skills.

Without hesitation, he took out his star skills card and placed it on the nearby sensor. Moments later, a selection option popped up on the screen in front of Gu Zhen.

[Confirm]

[Cancel]

Gu Zhen decisively chose 'Confirm' Soon, the glass in front of him automatically slid open to both sides, and a star skills stone slowly rose up.

In this world, star skills are taught in the form of memories, and the star skills stone is the medium that carries the corresponding memories.

A star warrior only needs to absorb these memories to grasp the essence of the star skills. With practice, they can master it.

This is far more convenient than traditional paper-based methods and allows for faster learning of star skills.

Moreover, the higher the rank of a star skills, the more complex it is to learn. Many star skills can only be understood intuitively and cannot be fully conveyed through words, making it nearly impossible to learn them from a paper manual.

Gu Zhen placed his hand on the star skills stone and slowly extended his spirit energy into it. Instantly, the knowledge, methods, and skills related to Instant Step flooded into his mind.

Instant Step was only an E-rank star skills, so learning it wasn't difficult. Gu Zhen quickly absorbed the insights and then promptly left the area.

The primary focus of a star warriors studies was cultivation and combat, with very few cultural classes—only three per week. Today, Gu Zhen main task was to acquire a star skill, and once that was done, he was free to leave. Before long, he returned to his dorm, carefully savoring the newly acquired Instant Step.

The speed at which a star warrior absorbs insights depends on their spirit power. The stronger their spiritual strength, the faster they can absorb insights.

Among the four secondary attributes—Star realm (main), Spirit Power, Soul, and Body—Spirit Power was one of the three secondary ones. Like Star realm, these attributes was divided into six ranks, but each grade had only four minor realm:

Initial, Intermediate, Advanced, and Peak.

Generally speaking, a star warrior who has just awakened their superpowers starts with all three secondary attributes and the primary attribute at the lowest level, which is Realm 1 initial"

However, Gu Zhen suspected that due to his time-traveller status, his Spirit Power had started at Realm 1, Intermediate.

The other two secondary attributes—Soul and Body—were still at the lowest initial level.

His intermediate-level Spirit Power enabled faster skills absorption. But even that shouldn't allow him to master a Star skills this quickly. He suspected there was another reason, perhaps related to his identity as a time traveller.

After absorbing the insights, Gu Zhen simulated the skill in his mind a few times before trying it physically.

[Instant Step!]

In the next second, Gu Zhen figure vanished from its original spot, instantly reappearing five meters away at the sink. Fortunately, he was prepared and managed to stabilize himself in time.

To his surprise, he succeeded on the very first try.

At the same time, he noticed a slight soreness in his legs. He had to sit back on the bed and massage them to relieve the discomfort.

Based on this, Gu Zhen estimated that he could use Instant Step at most twice in a short period before being unable to continue. Forcing it beyond that would likely injure his legs.

After resting for a while, he felt his legs had mostly recovered.

Next, Gu Zhen practiced Instant Step a few more times and quickly became proficient in its use.

Typically, even someone with Intermediate Spirit Power would need around ten days to master an E-rank Martial Star skills from scratch.

However, Gu Zhen had mastered this star skills in just a few hours.

This shocking realization sparked a new idea in his mind—

If I can master Star skills this quickly…...maybe I can start selling them to make money.
