~ Bella's POV
I left the lawyer's office with a heavy heart, clutching the receipt for the small payment I had made toward Mia's hospital bills. The money was barely a drop in the ocean, and it ate away at me every time I thought about it. But I couldn't let myself break down. I had to keep pushing forward. Mia needed me, and so did Noah.
Noah... I hadn't seen him in weeks. I had promised him I would get him out, but with every day that passed, it felt like the walls were closing in on me. I didn't know where to start, or what I could do to change anything. But I wasn't about to let him suffer in there alone.
I wiped a tear from my eye as I walked down the street, heading towards the restaurant. It wasn't much, but the food there was decent, and I thought Noah would appreciate a good meal. I had no idea when his last real meal was, and the thought of him starving made my heart ache.
