After two peaceful days at Ten Thousand Medicines House, Gu He took the initiative to approach the Little Fairy Doctor, asking her to accompany him into the Magic Beast Mountain Range to gather medicinal herbs.
This was exactly what the Little Fairy Doctor had been hoping for, so when Gu He made the request, she readily agreed without a second thought.
In the blink of an eye, seven days passed.
After several trips to the mountains to collect herbs, the relationship between the Little Fairy Doctor and Gu He had grown quite familiar.
During this time, Gu He answered almost every question the Little Fairy Doctor had about refining medicine, teaching her everything he knew. This deepened her respect for him even further.
On this particular day, after returning from their herb-gathering expedition, Gu He washed up and prepared to meditate. Just as he was about to begin, a soft knock echoed through the room.
The gentle voice of the Little Fairy Doctor drifted in from outside the door.
"Mr. Gu, I made some chicken soup myself. Would you like to try it?"
Hearing her voice, Gu He opened his eyes, a flicker of surprise crossing his expression. It was quite late—what was the Little Fairy Doctor doing here at this hour? Chicken soup?
"Come in," Gu He replied in a calm, clear voice.
The door creaked open, and the graceful figure of the Little Fairy Doctor stepped into the room. She carried a food box in her hands and smiled playfully at Gu He.
"Mr. Gu, you've been in Qingshan Town for so long, yet you've never let me show you my cooking skills," she teased.
Over the past few days, the Little Fairy Doctor had come to realize that this esteemed alchemist was surprisingly approachable and devoid of any airs. As a result, she had grown more relaxed around him, shedding her earlier stiffness.
"Alright, I'll give your cooking a try," Gu He replied with a smile, though a hint of curiosity stirred within him.
In the original story, it was mentioned that the Little Fairy Doctor's culinary skills were quite impressive. If he could take her under his wing, wouldn't that be a stroke of luck?
The Little Fairy Doctor obediently filled a bowl of chicken soup and handed it to Gu He. After taking a sip, his eyes lit up with approval.
"I must say, your skills are remarkable," Gu He praised without hesitation.
"If you like it, Mr. Gu, I can make it for you every day from now on," the Little Fairy Doctor offered happily, her face beaming with joy.
'Every day?'
Gu He was momentarily taken aback. He quickly composed himself, adopting a regretful expression. "I would love to enjoy your chicken soup every day... but unfortunately..."
"What's the matter?" the Little Fairy Doctor asked, her brow furrowing in confusion.
"It's just that I'll be leaving Qingshan Town soon," Gu He explained slowly.
"Ah... you're leaving?" The Little Fairy Doctor was visibly startled.
During their time together, she had learned a great deal about pill refinement from Gu He and had benefited immensely.
She had even begun to believe that, with a bit more time under his guidance, she could become a true alchemist. The news of his impending departure was difficult for her to accept.
"Yes, I've been in Qingshan Town for quite some time now. It's time for me to move on," Gu He said with a tinge of sadness. "It's a shame, though. After I leave, I won't be able to enjoy your cooking anymore."
"When will you be leaving, Mr. Gu?" the Little Fairy Doctor asked, biting her lower lip.
"Perhaps tomorrow, or the day after. It should be within the next two days," Gu He replied, taking another sip of the soup.
Over the past few days, Gu He had worked hard to leave a positive impression on the Little Fairy Doctor. He planned to ask her to become his disciple before he left Qingshan Town. If she agreed, he would stay a little longer. If she refused, he would depart for the Tagore Desert without delay.
He had already consulted the system and learned that any disciples he took on must sincerely acknowledge him as their teacher. Forced apprenticeships wouldn't trigger the system's reward mechanism.
Hearing Gu He's words, the Little Fairy Doctor fell silent for a moment. After some hesitation, her eyes grew determined, and she spoke with resolve.
"Actually, Mr. Gu, if you want to enjoy my chicken soup every day, there is a way."
"Oh?" Gu He's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Tell me."
"If you're willing to take me as your apprentice, I would naturally be happy to cook for you every day," the Little Fairy Doctor said, a playful smile dancing on her lips.
Her tone was light, as though she were joking, but in reality, she was incredibly nervous. She wasn't sure how Gu He would react to her proposal.
When Gu He heard her words, he was momentarily stunned. But as the meaning sank in, a wave of anticipation washed over him.
Was the Little Fairy Doctor suggesting that she wanted to become his disciple?
Wary of misunderstanding her intentions, Gu He chose his words carefully. He looked at her with a gentle smile and said, "If you're serious, of course, I would be happy to take you as my disciple."
"Mr. Gu, you mean it?" The Little Fairy Doctor's eyes lit up with excitement. She quickly rose to her feet, bowed respectfully to Gu He, and said in a soft but earnest voice, "Disciple pays her respects to her Master."
Gu He was momentarily speechless.'The Little Fairy Doctor... was actually serious?'
