Ari

Ari is an 18-year-old from the Seer Family, one of the oldest and most prestigious lineages in the Kingdom of Dravion. The Seer Family has been renowned for its prophetic abilities since the kingdom's founding; every member possesses the power to see the future, a gift passed down through generations. But Ari is an exception who hasn't inherited this legacy. He can neither make prophecies nor perform even the simplest rituals. Though his family has tried to train him, Ari prefers to skip lessons and cause mischief in the palace gardens. He doesn't know how to fight, can't wield a sword, and can barely hold a dagger properly. Weak, clumsy, and a disappointment who fails to meet his family's expectations, Ari feels like an outsider. The only bright spot in his life is his love for Lira, the king's daughter. He meets her in secret, strolling hand-in-hand through the palace gardens, whispering words of love to each other. But their romance is impossible; the king would never approve of his daughter being with a seer—especially one as inept as Ari—and plans to marry Lira off to a powerful noble or a prince from another kingdom. Ari's grandfather, Wise Varnis, always tells him, "Your talents will awaken one day, just be patient," but Ari doesn't believe it.

Kael

Kael was once one of the most skilled and feared assassins in the Kingdom of Dravion. A tall, muscular man with a blind left eye, the scar over it serves as a reminder of a betrayal from his past. For years, Kael served the king loyally. He moved through the shadows, silently eliminating the kingdom's enemies. With his daggers and short swords, he was like the cold breath of death; his name was whispered with fear throughout the realm. But Kael's loyalty was tested by the king's cruelty. One day, the king ordered him to assassinate the young prince of a neighboring kingdom a boy just 7 years old. The child's death would spark a war between the two kingdoms, strengthening Dravion's power. When Kael heard the command, he froze. He had never hesitated to kill, but staining his hands with the blood of an innocent child was something even he couldn't stomach. Kael refused the order. "I'm a killer, not a child murderer," he declared in the king's presence. This defiance was an insult to the king. Kael was immediately seized, shackled, and thrown into the Ash Pit. He had been exiled for refusing to kill a child. In his place of exile, another child Ari came to him seeking help. A child had been the cause of his banishment; now, another child, Ari, was eager to save him from it.

Zorny

Zoryn is a mysterious figure known as the wise elder of the Ash Pit. With his long white beard, hunched posture, and tattered robe, he is one of the pit's oldest inhabitants. He always carries a staff, which he uses not only for walking but also as a weapon against the dangers of the pit. Zoryn's eyes shine with deep wisdom, as if he has seen everything and tasted every pain. No one knows exactly where he came from or how he ended up in the Ash Pit. Some say he was once a scholar or advisor in the kingdom; others whisper that he might have been an ancient seer. But Zoryn never speaks of his past. Zoryn is one of the rare individuals who has managed to survive in the Ash Pit since being cast into it. He knows its conditions well: food is scarce, there is no entrance, and only exiles are sent down with ropes stretching thousands of meters. Zoryn observes the pit's inhabitants, guiding them, but never interfering needlessly. When he finds Ari on the pit's floor, he sees something in him: the realization of the "dead life" legend. Zoryn knows the prophecy seen by the ancestors of the Seer Family 9,000 years ago: "A dead life will be born, become immortal, and change the kingdom's fate." He believes Ari is the child of this legend and resolves to train him. Zoryn's goal is not just to keep Ari alive but to transform him into a hero. Yet Zoryn's own past and his fall into the pit may hold a deeper connection to Ari's fate, a secret that has yet to be revealed.

Lira

Lira is the young and radiant daughter of the king, widely regarded as the most beautiful girl in the castle. Her golden hair cascades like sunlight, and her eyes sparkle with a kindness that draws people to her. But beneath her grace and royal demeanor lies a heart fiercely devoted to Ari, the clumsy, mischievous boy from the Seer Family. Despite being the king's daughter, Lira's world revolves around the secret moments she steals with Ari: wandering the palace gardens, laughing at his awkward attempts to impress her, and dreaming of a future together. She loves him deeply, not for any grand deeds or noble titles, but for the warmth and honesty she finds in his flawed, carefree spirit.

Her father, the king, however, despises Ari. To him, Ari is nothing more than a useless troublemaker, a boy who can't wield a sword, perform rituals, or live up to the legacy of his prestigious family. The king has grand plans for Lira, envisioning her married to a powerful noble or a foreign prince who can strengthen Dravion's rule. He forbids her from seeing Ari, dismissing their love as a childish whim. "You're meant for greatness," he tells her sternly, "not for a fool who trips over his own feet." But Lira doesn't care about greatness or royal alliances. She sees in Ari what her father cannot: a soul worth fighting for.

Lira refuses to let go of her love, no matter the cost. She sneaks out at night to meet him, defies her father's orders with quiet rebellion, and even argues with him in the throne room, her voice trembling but firm. "I won't marry someone I don't love," she declares, her defiance shocking the court. The king grows furious, locking her in her chambers and doubling her guards, but Lira's resolve never wavers. She dreams of running away with Ari, leaving the castle and its expectations behind. To her, he isn't a failure or a disappointment. He's her heart's choice, and she'll stand by him even if it means facing her father's wrath or the kingdom's scorn. Lira's love is her strength, and she clings to it like a flame in the dark, determined to find a way to be with Ari no matter what obstacles lie ahead..
