Part 1
"I have something important to tell everyone, I'm pregnant!"
Silence falls over the room until father rushes over and embraces her. Everyone seems to be congratulating her and cheering for the new baby to come. Apparently they didn't know if she could get pregnant again after so long. I'm not surprised id also be worried. These two have a very loving and passionate relationship, their moans heard throughout the house every night. From the sound of it mother is always trying to escape by the end with father always saying "Don't give up the nights still young!". I'm sure it should gross me out but at this point its just white noise after so long. Its honestly comforting since it means they're still like newlyweds.
The next day was spent the same way it has always been spent for the past year. I would train with father with body conditioning in the mornings followed by sparing in the afternoons.
Training to be a swordsman is rough. Its not just a hard concept to grasp, father is just a monster. No matter what I do even if its magic attacks, magic defense, or trying to sink him in a swamp. This man just keeps coming. Every day ends in a loss for me, not even being able to land one hit.
The evenings though are spent with Eyara. We use to mostly play by the lake or run through the fields chasing around bugs or small animals. Though a few days ago he asked if I could teach him magic. Demanding that I train him with such fierce determination.
"Haaaaaaaahhh I guess there's no reason not to. It'll come in handy when defending yourself."
"R-really?! Just like that?! YAY! YAAAAAY! HOORAAAAAY!!" He jumped around cheering and throwing his arms into the air.
So the last few days I've been teaching him how to cast attack spells of every element. He was able to cast Fire Bullet, Water Bullet, and Wind Blade. However he seems to be having issues with the Earth element. Though today he shocked me with a surprising question during our practice.
"Can you show me how to cast spells without using their incantation?
Im able to shorten the incantation by half now but I cant seem to figure out how you're able to do it." He looks at me with those determined eyes of his.
"Chantless huh?" I pace around for a moment while I think.
"Yea I don't see why not. If you cant you cant, if you can then it would be a shame not to try." This time he doesn't cheer but simply looks at me seriously, as if he's waiting for my wise words of wisdom. I clear my throat before speaking.
"This is the best way I can explain how to perform a chantless spell. Think about how it feels to cast the spell. Think about everything you do to mold and shape the spell. Think about how to stabilize and fire the spell. If you're able to picture these things you can recreate the feeling with mana control. Do it right and you'll execute the spell. Though before you can try casting it without the incantation you'd need to first do the full chant. Every spell works differently so you need to be able to remember what it feels like each time you try to cast it. That's all I know. This is how I do it so its the only way I know to perform chantless magic."
"S-so i just have to remember exactly how it feels and....recreate the feeling..." He closes his eyes and struggles only for a moment before casting Wind Blade into the sky.
"Woah holy shit you did it!" (How the hell did he figure that out so fast?! Is this guy a genius wind mage?) All of a sudden I see him cast Water Bullet as well.
(How the hell?...Does he just have an affinity with those elements? Is that why my wind and fire magic is so strong? Water is my weakest element as well as healing. Wait if he's strong in healing maybe he can do chantless healing already as well!)
"Eyara I need you to heal the cut on my arm with chantless healing." I cut my shoulder open using Wind Blade nearly an inch deep.
"S-Samu?!" He rushes over and holds his hand over my wound as he shakes uncontrollably.
"Look dude calm down. I didn't mean to cut this deep but its ooook. Just calm down. If you cant do it just cast it normally." He nods his eyes filled with determination.
He steadies his arms and the spell is casted soon after. (I knew it! Wait is this guy a genius? Even my master struggled with her main element and wasn't able to figure it out. Is it because we were young? Or should I watch my back in the future..)
"I did it! Samu I can cast chantless magic! Arent I amazing! I really did it!" He runs around casting Water Bullet and Wind Blade as he went off into the fields. I joined him as we clashed spells using water and wind magic as we laughed and ran around in the fields. Soon however it suddenly became dark as the sky was filled with black clouds. A loud boom lights up the sky ushering in a terrible storm, the immense volume of its downpour soaking us to the bone in seconds
"Quick follow me! My house is near by and we cant stay in this storm for long!" I yell out as I run off into the direction of my home with Eyara close behind. By the time I get home Elxie is already there and waiting with a warm towel for me and my friend.
"Young master I have a warm bath already prepared upstairs. Please take this towel and wash off. " I thank her as I remove my shoes and take the towel she was handing me, running up stairs while calling for Eyara to follow.
After entering the mostly empty room I strip down as fast as I can. The sooner I get in this hot water the better. Not long after I get into the bath Eyara entered the room fidgeting as usual.
"You're going to catch a cold. Hurry up and get undressed so you can get in the bath. Its really warm in here so hurry up before it gets cold." He just stands there fidgeting.
"What are you uncomfortable changing in front of others?" He doesn't respond he just keeps hanging his head.
"If you don't want to get in with me I can just dry you off with my magic. You're going to have to strip though before you catch a cold." The boy begins to shiver.
"Dude I'm serious you're going to get sick stop being stupid and get undressed!" Whats this guys problem?
"N-no!" He shakes his head as his shivering gets worse.
"Alright I've had enough of this." I use Wind Blade to cut his close causing them to drop to the floor in bits.
"HYAAAAAA!!" She looks at me in shock before screaming out.
"Oh shut up and give me a second." I use wind and fire magic to dry him off and sigh at him.
"There now you're dry. You can take a set of my clothes if you want. My rooms the first one to the left." Elxie walks into the room and scans the scene before glaring at me.
"What? Mind giving him some of my clothes? He needs a new pair."
"Young master Samu what is the meaning of this?!" Elxie's tail stiffens and puffs up.
"Eh? Eh? What's wrong with you?"
(What the hell? I've never seen her like this before?)
"This is no way to treat a lady!"
(Huh? Lady? Wait no way...)
I lean forward and try inspecting her body. She covered everything up but I think it's safe to assume he's a she. Yea let's just accept it as fact.
"I-I see. I'm sorry but I didn't realize you were a girl. Not that you aren't pretty! I always thought you were pretty for a boy. You just always wear pants and keep you hair short. It's hard to tell at this age!"
(Woops went off the rails there a bit) Soon my father and mother entered the room.
"What is the meaning of this Samu?" Mother asked with her arms crossed.
"It rained out so we were going to get undressed and take a warm bath. I didnt listen to Eyara's pleads and forced her to get undressed. I used my magic to dry her off before realizing the truth. I thought she was a boy. I'm sorry." I tried to sound as honest as possible.
"Its not a good look son. You need to be more aware of the situations you're in. A misunderstanding for someone like you can be scary for those involved, please be more aware that."
"Oh that's really good advice. Not to be rude father but I'm pleasantly surprised."
"Haaaaah? I'm always sharing words of wisdom!" Father says with a hint of annoyance
"This is true father, this time was just something I'm taking to heart." My father nods seemingly satisfied with the interaction.
Eyara stayed with us in silence until the storm faded. Not saying a word as she left and made her way home.
"Geeze you really messed up son." Father says as he shakes his head in disapproval.
"You're never going to land a wife at this rate." Mother says while winking.
"Calm down you two it was a simple mistake. Ill give her some time and talk to her about it later."
"Wooooow so mature for your age!" Father claps as if he's mocking me.
"My sweet little Samu is acting so grown up!" Mother joins in the mockery.
"Guys please don't mock me. I'm embarrassed enough about the whole situation without you guys antagonizing me." I let out a long sigh as I head up stairs.
"Are you turning in for the day young master?"
"Yes, don't bother saving me anything from dinner."
For the rest of the day I simply sat in my room as I lost myself to the memories of my past life.
Part 2
>Distorted voice<
"Ugh why did I decide to keep you?!"
"It should have been you not your brother!"
"I should have aborted you"
"Why are you ALWAYS sticking to me!?"
"Honestly I'm not sure why I've kept you around!"
Again I wake up in a pool of sweat as I struggle to get out of bed while fighting the urge to vomit.
(Haaaaaaah this sucks. Cant even escape the dreams in another life. Talk about pathetic.)
I get myself ready for the day as always and head downstairs to enjoy more of Elxie's breakfast. I try to distract myself from my dream by thinking of ways I can beat my father.
(I need to beat this monster of a man. At least before he's past his prime. After all what honor is there in beating an old retired man.)
"Hey son! Ready to begin training?" Fathers voice booms throughout the room as he enters.
"Just about." I say still lost in thought.
"Still planning my demise?"
"Yes. I think I might have a plan but....I'm not sure if it'll work out the way I think it will. In fact it might not work at all." A firm hand lands on my shoulder.
"Want to skip the morning routine and just go strait to sparing?"
"Yes! I have so much I want to test!"
"Well you better give it your all because I'll be giving you a bit more effort on my part!" We both laugh as we made our way outside.
Father and I stand across from each other in the field behind our house as we always did for training. He readies his training sword and calls out to me.
"What kind of trick did you have planned? Anything I should be worried about?" He says in a sarcastic tone.
"There seems to be correlation with your skills and my spells. I was wondering if I could use my mana to flood my muscles in the same way you enhance your attacks with your skills."
"Is my son close to another innovation?"
"I doubt anything that I have done is a innovation. I'm sure there are others out there who have achieved these things already."
"Its good to be humble but im fairly sure if I ever had to fight someone like you while I was adventuring, Id be dead along with my entire party." Father seemed serious.
"That so?"
"Yes that is so."
(Huh then I guess if I pull this off I might be able to take him down here and now!)
"Ok then father let me see if this is even possible."
I start by gathering my mana and slowly start filling my muscles as I attempt to amplify my physical capabilities. Its extremely difficult. I've already practiced this for a long time now but I cant seem to figure out how to make this work or if its even possible. It should be since swordsmen also use "Skills" to boost their speed and power. I thought it would be similar to how spells worked. Maybe its a skill issue and I need to improve on my mana control.
After some time I finally feel my mana fill my limbs empowering them.
"Ready father?"
"Ready whenever."
I rush towards father to close the distance as fast as possible to catch him off guard. Next thing I know he's already in front me me as he matched my step-in speed our swords colliding with great force blowing me back in the process. I struggle to stand as fathers suddenly above me ready to strike. Though I tried to use earth magic to defend he's too quick and knocks me out with his next attack.
