Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: The Strength of the Land

After spending time in the cozy valley behind the waterfall, Scar, Mufasa, and Simba set out to explore the wider territory that Scar had claimed. The air was rich with the scent of buffalo, and the land was thick with wild game. The herds of buffalo scattered the plains, grazing peacefully, their massive bodies moving in unison.

Simba's eyes were wide with awe as they walked along the edge of a herd. "Whoa! There are so many buffalo! This place is huge, Uncle Scar!"

Scar chuckled, looking around with a proud glint in his eyes. "Yes, Simba. This land is vast. The buffalo here are strong, and we're fortunate to have them. It's a land that provides everything we need."

Mufasa, walking beside them, nodded thoughtfully. "This land is different from the Pride Lands. But it's impressive. The herds are abundant, and the pride is strong."

Simba glanced up at his father, noticing the calmness in his tone. "You're not worried?"

"No," Mufasa replied simply. "I trust Scar. He's built something strong here."

Scar smiled at his brother's words, but deep down, he felt a certain pride. The pride he had built was thriving, and with Zira's help, it had become something far greater than he ever imagined. This was his kingdom now.

As they walked further into the land, Scar stopped and turned to face Mufasa and Simba. "You two should return to the Pride Lands now," Scar said, his voice steady. "I'll stay here for a while longer. I'll be back in a week."

Simba's face fell a little. "You're staying behind, Uncle Scar? I thought we were all going back together."

Scar placed a reassuring paw on Simba's shoulder. "I need to stay, Simba. There's much to be done here. I need to make sure everything is in order before I return. The land needs to be secured, and the pride strengthened."

Mufasa glanced at Scar with a raised eyebrow. "Are you sure this is the right choice? You don't need to do this alone."

Scar gave his brother a nod. "I'll be fine. I've built this, Mufasa, and I need to make sure it's solid. Trust me, I'll return soon. The Pride Lands will be safe in your paws."

Simba looked up at Scar, his confusion still evident. "But... you'll come back, right? To visit?"

"I'll be back in a week," Scar confirmed, his voice firm. "I'll come check in and make sure everything is running smoothly."

Mufasa nodded. "Alright, we'll head back then. But be careful, Scar. This land is far from the Pride Lands. Don't let your guard down."

Scar watched as Mufasa and Simba began to head back toward the Pride Lands. His gaze lingered on them for a moment before he turned his attention back to the land around him—the buffalo grazing peacefully, the vast stretches of grassland, and the strength of the pride that had been built here.

"Take care, Simba," Scar whispered to himself, his voice carrying only to the wind. "I'll see you soon."
