Chapter 2 - JREA: Chapter 2

Hikaru Kuganami jolted awake from his slumber due to a sudden shortness of breath.

"Wait, please don't move, you're getting an IV drip." A strange female voice sounded.

The familiar words gave Hikaru Kuganami a sense of security. He must have fainted and been taken to the hospital.

He sat up, following the strength of the woman's hand supporting him. He took a moment to regain his composure before opening his eyes and surveying his surroundings. As soon as he opened his eyes, the overwhelming amount of information brought by the Six Eyes almost knocked him out again, and his vision went black for a moment.

This unexpected event caused Hikaru Kuganami to miss the woman's shocked expression as she helped him remove the IV needle.

… Six Eyes?!

The woman tried to suppress her shock and gently reassured him, "Your condition requires constant replenishment of large amounts of sugar. Since you're awake, please drink some glucose."

"Okay... thank you."

Hikaru Kuganami didn't suspect anything. On the one hand, he was in such a bad state that he didn't have the energy to think about anything else. On the other hand, his hypoglycemia was indeed serious, and doctors and nurses had told him similar things before, so he obediently took the cup and drank.

Glucose IV drips usually use a relatively low concentration for safety reasons, so the effect is relatively slow. The most effective methods are intravenous injection and oral high-concentration glucose. After drinking two cups of high-concentration glucose, Hikaru Kuganami's blurry vision and hazy mind immediately became clear.

With his intelligence back on the high ground, Hikaru Kuganami not only recalled what had happened before he fainted, but also had the spare brainpower to ponder the pile of information that had been stuffed into his head.

It was fine when he hadn't realized, but now that he had, a cold sweat broke out on Hikaru Kuganami's back.

Wait, the person he thought was a nurse was wearing what looked like an expensive kimono. The room wasn't a hospital ward, but a high-class Japanese-style room. He could even see a dry landscape garden outside the window… Where was this? This was definitely not a hospital!

"...I thought I'd be taken to the hospital…" Hikaru Kuganami asked tactfully about the situation.

The woman in the kimono concealed her emotions, but there was a hint of closeness in her gaze as she said, "This is the Gojo residence. You fainted in front of the head of the household, and Master Gojo brought you back."

Hikaru Kuganami wanted to retort, "Shouldn't you have taken me to the hospital?" But thinking about the other pair of Six Eyes he had seen before he fainted, he swallowed his question. After all, he knew he seemed a bit suspicious.

Sigh, the secret he had kept for so many years had finally been exposed…

Hikaru Kuganami comforted himself. At least it was only the Six Eyes that had been exposed, not his other abilities. Since there were other Six Eyes, he shouldn't be dissected on a lab table. That was a good thing.

Hopefully, the Six Eyes weren't rare at all, and they weren't inherited through bloodlines. That would make it easier for him to blend in.

So Hikaru Kuganami coughed and tried to make his escape, "That, thank you for taking care of me. Please also thank your master for me. I'll repay you both later. By the way, I have something to do. Can I leave now?"

The woman in the kimono smiled and politely refused Hikaru Kuganami's request, "Master Gojo has been waiting for you to wake up. I'll go and inform him now. Please wait a moment."

After confirming that Hikaru Kuganami would stay in the room and wait, the woman in the kimono, with impeccable etiquette, poured him some tea and thoughtfully placed two bottles of glucose beside him before withdrawing from the Japanese-style room.

Closing the sliding door, the woman in the kimono rubbed her face, which was slightly stiff from controlling her expressions, and took a deep breath.

Ah—! She wasn't mistaken, was she?! Those were definitely the Six Eyes!

This afternoon, Gojo Satoru had unexpectedly brought a stranger back with him, and it was impossible for everyone not to be curious. She took advantage of being assigned to take care of the guest to observe him, but she didn't see anything unusual. She only noticed that the young man was probably in poor health.

Anyone who could be brought back by Gojo-sama must be a Jujutsu sorcerer, right? But as long as they weren't a wanted curse user, if they had a health problem, it would be better to take them to the hospital or Jujutsu High than to the Gojo residence, wouldn't it? Why did Gojo-sama insist on bringing the person back to the Gojo residence?

All her questions vanished the moment she saw the guest open his eyes.

The same sky-blue eyes as Gojo Satoru, half-hidden behind his messy dark blue bangs, seemed to reflect the boundless sky, as if they could see through everything. She had never seen such eyes before, other than the Gojo family's ancestral Six Eyes.

But, a second pair of Six Eyes?! The Six Eyes themselves are a once-in-a-century phenomenon, and the probability of two pairs of Six Eyes appearing in the same era…

She understood why the head of the household had brought the person back to the Gojo residence. If he had taken him to Jujutsu High, the information might have leaked, and the Jujutsu world would have been shaken to its core.

There were already people who often attributed the increasingly rampant curses in recent years to the fact that the Gojo family had produced the strongest Six Eyes, breaking the balance. If another pair of Six Eyes appeared, even if this child's technique wasn't Limitless, it would be enough for those cowards to clamor for his execution.

Thinking about this, the woman in the kimono felt a surge of relief.

Thankfully, the first person in the Jujutsu world to discover this child was Gojo Satoru. Otherwise, this child might have disappeared from the world without a trace… I wonder which branch of the Gojo family this child is from. Hopefully, he'll be reunited with his ancestors soon.

After Hikaru Kuganami drank another bottle of glucose, the legendary head of the Gojo family finally arrived. It was the other Six Eyes that Hikaru Kuganami had seen before he fainted.

"Hey, you're finally awake." Gojo Satoru sat cross-legged opposite Hikaru Kuganami, casually rubbing salt in the wound, "You're really weak. You might die young at this rate."

Hikaru Kuganami was speechless for a moment, "......I don't want to die young."

Although Gojo Satoru's words were harsh, Hikaru Kuganami, who came from an orphanage, could sense that the other person wasn't malicious. He was simply stating the facts and hadn't considered his feelings.

But this attitude did make Hikaru Kuganami feel a little more at ease. If he was worried about him dying young, then he shouldn't do anything to him. It seemed like the other person didn't intend to question him about why he also had the Six Eyes. Maybe the Six Eyes really weren't rare in a group he didn't know about…

Seeing Hikaru Kuganami frowning and his gaze wandering, Gojo Satoru suddenly remembered something, lowered his head, and took off the sunglasses he was wearing. He casually put them on Hikaru Kuganami.

Hikaru Kuganami: "...???"

Gojo Satoru asked, "How do you feel now?"

"Can wearing sunglasses solve that? … Hmm?!"

Hikaru Kuganami pushed the sliding sunglasses up, startled.

Although his vision was still abnormal, it looked like some kind of thermal imaging at first glance, and there was still a lot of random information, but these sunglasses were like a filter, filtering out some of the information that his brain needed to process, making it much easier for him. His brain, which was about to boil, cooled down a bit.

Of course! Since Gojo Satoru had these eyes, he must have already researched how to make himself comfortable! He just needed to enjoy the fruits of his research!

"These sunglasses are really great…"

Gojo Satoru seemed to be sharing some good thing with a good friend, his tone full of enthusiasm, "Right? But not just any sunglasses will do. They need to be custom-made. Besides sunglasses, you can also use an eye mask. I don't have one on me, but I'll get you one later. You can try both and see which one is more comfortable."

Hikaru Kuganami was used to wearing plain glasses before. Combined with his long bangs, they could effectively cover his eyes, which would change color from time to time—he wanted to buy colored contact lenses, but his eyes were very sensitive, and they would tear up crazily whenever he wore contact lenses… Although plain glasses were less effective, he was known as a bookworm at school, so no one paid special attention to his changing eye color.

Now that he had experienced the effect of these sunglasses, he was a little tempted. He wanted to ask who the maker was and order a pair of functional glasses that were more suitable for him… But then he thought about his savings and the probability of exposing himself when explaining his requirements, and he gave up.

Hikaru Kuganami sighed regretfully, "Thank you, I think the sunglasses will be fine… But what about you?"

Gojo Satoru waved his hand, "It's fine, you can wear them."

Hikaru Kuganami was immediately touched. He knew very well what it was like to not have a filter. What a selfless angel Gojo Satoru was, taking care of others!

The anxiety and alertness he felt when he woke up in an unfamiliar environment gradually melted away with Gojo Satoru's actions, especially after wearing the sunglasses, the strain on his brain was greatly reduced. Hikaru Kuganami, who had been feeling uncomfortable for almost a day, was even more grateful to Gojo Satoru.

He was about to say something when his phone suddenly rang. He took it out and saw that it was the manager.

While waiting for Gojo Satoru, he had checked his email and saw a message from the manager, expressing concern for him and asking him to rest for a while. When he was alright, he should call and let him know he was safe. He called the manager, but the manager must have been busy and didn't answer. Now he finally called back.

Hikaru Kuganami looked up at Gojo Satoru, saw him gesture to do as he pleased, and confidently answered the phone, "Hello, this is Hikaru Kuganami."

"Kuganami-kun, are you alright?" The manager's kind voice came from the phone, "You're so young, you need to take care of your health…"

The beginning was normal greetings, but then the manager's words became strange.

"Kuganami-kun, that relative you brought seems quite wealthy. You don't have to work anymore. Just take care of your health and study hard. I heard that your condition that has been undiagnosed is actually a family hereditary disease. Your family has experience in treating it, and I can finally rest assured…"

"What? What relative?" Hikaru Kuganami was stunned and then realized.

Alright, he thought it was strange that he woke up in a hospital, and why the manager was so at ease with him being taken away by a stranger. It turned out Gojo Satoru was pretending to be his relative!

"Hmm? Isn't that right?" The manager was also alert, "I saw that he was quite wealthy. When he left, he said he was sorry for disturbing the business and bought everything in the store. In broad daylight, he couldn't be a human trafficker, could he? Do you need me to call the police for you?"

Hikaru Kuganami glanced at Gojo Satoru, who was smiling, and hesitated for a moment before helping Gojo Satoru cover up the lie, "Uh, he's not a bad guy. It's just that I just woke up, and he hasn't told me about this yet…"

He felt like this was just an excuse. Looking at Gojo Satoru's attitude, it felt like the Six Eyes weren't rare at all. He hadn't even asked about his eyes yet. If it was really a family hereditary disease, shouldn't he have compared family trees with him first?

However, once Hikaru Kuganami admitted to this excuse, he couldn't say that he still needed this job. He could only end the call as the manager expressed his relief that he finally had a blood relative.

Hikaru Kuganami stared blankly at his phone, "Why did you say you were my relative…"

"There's no point in going to the hospital with your body. You're better off coming with me."

"But then I'll lose my job! … Cough!"

Gojo Satoru looked at him in amazement, "Don't worry, why are you coughing up blood again? You're so fragile!"

Hikaru Kuganami was so angry at the young master's indifference, "I'm about to be homeless. How can I not be worried?"

"You need money? That's easy." Gojo Satoru, who had never been short of money, snapped his fingers. "I'll just support you, won't I?"

For a moment, countless thoughts raced through Hikaru Kuganami's mind.

There's no free lunch in this world. If you're being overly kind, there's something fishy going on. Does this mean he wants to support me? It turns out Gojo Satoru is bi.

[MeowCafe: Dude wtf are you even thinking lmao.]

Gojo Satoru's looks are so good, does he even need to spend money? If he goes out for a walk, won't a bunch of people throw themselves at him? Or is the Six Eyes really hereditary? Does Gojo Satoru really think he's a relative…

Before Hikaru Kuganami could figure it out, Gojo Satoru continued with conviction.

"After all, I'm your dad—that's not impossible, is it!"

"...…"

After a long silence, Hikaru Kuganami slowly said, "...Tell me the truth, how many years has your brain been fried?"

—Pretending to be a relative wasn't enough, now he wants to take advantage of him, is he?!
