Chapter 6 - Banquet

Since they had to attend a banquet later, neither of them ate much. After the meal, they returned to the villa, where the stylist was already waiting in the living room. The moment Cathy saw who it was, she gasped and tugged on Bonnie's sleeve in shock. "Oh my god, this is the stylist you mentioned?"

Bonnie nodded. "He's really talented. Haven't you heard of him before?"

Talented?

That's Martin! The personal stylist to A-list celebrities. Of course he's good!

Cathy swallowed hard, glancing at Bonnie, who was chatting casually with Martin.

So... this is what a rich person's life looks like...

And yet Bonnie, who lived like a goddess, still willingly entered showbiz and put up with all the hardship.

With that in mind, Cathy was already numb when she saw Bonnie's massive walk-in closet and cabinets full of luxury jewelry.

...Alright, fine. Go ahead. Let money crush me.

"But Bonnie, why do you have men's clothes in your wardrobe?"

"Oh, those belong to a certain scumbag."

"???"

Unlike Bonnie's fair and ethereal looks, Cathy had a soft oval face and bright eyes, giving her a naturally spirited charm. Martin, being a seasoned expert, immediately saw her strengths and wasn't afraid to try something bold. When Cathy stepped out in a sea-blue strapless evening gown, she instantly became the center of attention.

Bonnie's eyes widened. "Wow."

Even Martin smiled in satisfaction.

Cathy looked a bit shy and asked nervously, "Is this dress expensive?" She wasn't familiar with Bonnie's designer labels.

Bonnie reassured her, "Relax, it's dirt cheap."

She patted the jewelry cabinet with a smug air. "Come on, darling, pick some bling."

Cathy was nearly blinded by the sparkling diamonds. Faced with so many breathtaking pieces, she almost couldn't choose. She finally pointed at a teardrop-shaped necklace. "How about this one?"

Bonnie gave her a meaningful look. "Good eye."

"Hmm?" Cathy blinked.

Bonnie helped her put it on and replied, "It suits you."

After that, Bonnie got dressed as well. She wore a qipao with her hair elegantly pinned up. There were no excessive accessories, yet she looked so stunning it was hard to look away.

Cathy had to admit that when it came to beauty, Bonnie never lost to anyone.

As Bonnie walked over, Cathy couldn't help but wrap an arm around her and sigh dramatically, "That tiny waist of yours is absolutely killer."

Bonnie threw her a flirtatious wink, radiating charm with every glance and step.

Martin had brought a professional photographer. Once the two women were dressed, they had fun posing for a photoshoot.

Afterward, Bonnie picked a few pictures to post on X.

Cathy nibbled on a pastry and warned, "Don't post any of our selfies. I don't want to be publicly crushed by your beauty."

It was brutal. She felt like plain porridge next to Bonnie's full-course glamour.

Bonnie shot her a helpless glance. "You're really underestimating yourself."

Cathy was actually gorgeous and totally unaware of it, the entertainment industry desperately needed beauties like her.

Not that Cathy was listening.

Bonnie used to post selfies on X regularly, but after getting hate, she stopped. Now that she was no longer acting, she could do whatever she wanted. She casually posted a full nine-grid collage.

At six o'clock sharp, the two of them headed out.

As soon as the photos were posted, the comments started flooding in:

"Damn, this beauty attack came out of nowhere!"

"Is she a fairy or what?"

"Gotta say, this woman is stunning."

"That figure, that shoulder-to-waist ratio. Bonnie Wesley is on another level..."

"My god, I fully submit to Bonnie's visuals."

"Obviously edited. Celebs these days only know how to Photoshop their pics. Who knows how many times this one's been touched up? And she has the nerve to post it?"

"The jealousy is practically dripping from your comment."

"Let me be clear, I'm not jealous of Bonnie. There are plenty of women in the industry more beautiful than her. But let's be honest, those pics are clearly edited. Since when is pointing out the truth considered jealousy?"

"Ugh, raw, unedited beauty is trending now. Only your girl Bonnie still insists on posting overly retouched shots. She's been out of the game for half a year, probably looking like a wreck. And she still dares to post these polished pics!"

"Ugly, ugly, ugly, ugly!!!"

Later, some sharp-eyed netizens pointed out a warped pillar in the background, a clear sign of photo editing. That gave the haters all the fuel they needed, and Bonnie's photos quickly became the target of widespread ridicule.

That evening, the banquet entrance was livestreamed. Cathy ran into her company's team on the way and entered separately from Bonnie.

Because the event was fairly high-profile, a lot of netizens were already watching the livestream. For the first half-hour, a stream of influencers entered first but the comments weren't exactly kind:

"You're telling me that is the no-makeup goddess? Damn, my eyes are bleeding."

"So chubby! Was the second one Gloria? Yikes. All catfishes!"

"Don't rush, folks. These are just influencers. The real celebrities are coming up next."

Sure enough, a few minutes later, once the celebrities started arriving, the atmosphere instantly changed.

Ada walked in with two fellow actresses from her company. Maybe it was the contrast with the previous guests, but their elegance really stood out.

Netizens commented:

"There's definitely a wall between influencers and real stars. Just look at their posture alone. It's game over for the others."

"Agreed. No more trash-talking celebrities. They really are one in a million."

"Is that Ada? Damn, next to those influencers, she looks like a literal goddess. So beautiful."

"Agreed, she's stunning. Instant fan here."

"Okay, but aren't y'all exaggerating? Ada's pretty, but 'goddess-level'?"

"Yeah, she's just average-looking to me."

"Average? Please. Go find someone prettier than Ada if you can. Stop pretending."

The doubters were quickly shut down, and the screen was soon filled with nothing but praise for Ada.

Until

"Holy sht holy sht holy sh*t who's the woman in the blue dress?!"

Cathy stepped onto the red carpet, eyes blazing as she looked ahead at Ada. That two-faced witch had tried to sabotage her dress again but luckily Cathy reacted in time and thwarted her.

"Look at the camera," someone reminded.

Cathy, naturally photogenic, took a few quick steps to catch up and posed behind the others, flashing her signature smile at the camera. Her dimples were deep, her aura dazzling.

Comments lit up:

"I'm dead. Absolutely dead."

"I need everything on this woman in the next three minutes!"

"Forget Ada. Compared to this woman, she's just a foot-washer. This is what a goddess looks like!"

"When did the entertainment industry get someone this gorgeous? How did I not know?"

"I've seen her in a drama last year. She played the fourth female lead in Allure. Super cute personality too. Go check her out!"
