Have you ever had one of those moments in your life where you're like 'well that definitely didn't go the way I thought it would'? Or even a moment in time where you're looking for a quick exit out of a sticky situation? Ya, well that's where I'm at right now. This whole situation has quickly gone to the hellhounds, and we are so dead if we get out of this alive (metaphorically dead) my parent's, the tribal leaders, are going to probably lock me away for the rest of my life though. If I make it out of this alive I'm probably going to willingly lock myself in my room! I NEVER will wholeheartedly trust my cousins that's for sure! We were told to stay away from the human camp that our patrol found, I was all for staying away. They aren't always very nice when they find us. But NO my cousins that are older than me ALL tricked me into going to the camp. So here I am, at the camp my parents said to stay away from and all because I'm a bit different than the rest of the tribe.
Hello my name is Onyx Marie and as you already know I'm in a VERY sticky situation, I'm totally freaking out here so my BigFoot is pushing to come out. This happens to me when I'm stressed, scared, or in danger. Normally those under 18 wouldn't have this problem but as I said I'm a bit different. I was born to the very large traveling tribe known as the Travelers, that in itself isn't very special. What is special is the fact that I was born on what we call the Fairy moon in the middle of summer while it had been raining all day long. Then a bit passed midnight the rain stopped and the clouds cleared away real fast. It was like they were never even there, the only way anyone knew it had rained all day was that everything was very wet.
Granny Mable was there at the tent with mama because she started to not feel well, and at this point only my siblings were at our tent. They were all either too young themselves or inexperienced in anything at all that required great attention. Great x4 Granny Ethel had by this time let the tribe rest here for the last 6 months. Not only because mama couldn't travel well but many of the Elders, her children and grandchildren, had come down with one illness or another. Not to mention that Great x4 Grandpappy Zeke had been gravely ill when they first stopped. So once he was better he started to take a lot of the males in the tribe out to hunt, chop wood, and forage. We were never unprotected because the elders, women who didn't leave the tribe, and children were always left. This was a day that Great Grandpappy Xylon had gone hunting with Great Great Grandpappy Asriel, and Great x4 Grandpappy Zeke and they took all the males that were old enough to hunt, track, and chop wood. Grandpappy Sage and Grandpappy Eli took the older children and gathered up any herbs, berries, and anything else edible. Every time there was a big rain they would do this since they had stopped here. Great Grandpappies Bo (1 time), Larry (x2), and Oliver (x3), all members on dad's side, were all in the medical tent still since they were all still ill.
So here in a tent filled with children, I decided it was the time to add one more and a baby on top of that. Granny Mable had to call the elder women including 4x Great Granny Ethel. 4x Great Granny Ethel was beside herself when she got there because mama had a hard pregnancy this time. She thought she would end up losing her awaited 4x great granddaughter, she had helped with bad deliveries before but never with someone so close to her. It had always been in a tribe they met while wandering around the continent. What made it harder on her was mama told her if it came down to saving her or me they were to save me, because mama could just feel that I was going to be something very special.
With great reluctance 4x great Granny Ethel agreed, she too could tell that I was going to be special. So right then she decided she would raise me if they couldn't save mama, so dad wouldn't have to see me everyday and possibly take his grief out on me, a tiny baby. Granny Mable and the Elder women all agreed to help as well if the worst should happen to mama, so at 1 o'clock in the morning mama's labor started. It lasted an hour, and everyone was exhausted from all the effort they had to use to keep us both safe. On the plus side all the other kids were sent to an aunt or cousin's house so they weren't under foot during any of this. Another positive is that they were able to save us both, even though mama was utterly exhausted. The bad part is that everyone was about to discover just how special I was.
