Orochimaru cast a cold glance at Jiraiya and spat out two words: "Fool."
The Third Hokage, seeing his two disciples about to argue again, sighed helplessly. Just as he was about to intervene, a cold voice suddenly interrupted:
"I will be his mentor."
The room fell silent. Even the Third Hokage was momentarily stunned, while Shishio Mitarashi smirked smugly at Sakumo Hatake.
Because the speaker was none other than Sakumo Hatake, the legendary "White Fang of Konoha," a man who had never taken on the role of a mentor in his life.
Jiraiya froze for a moment before looking dejectedly at Sakumo.
"Senior Sakumo, are you seriously going to compete with me for a disciple?"

"What do you mean, Lord Third?" Shishio asked anxiously.
"It's nothing. It's just that the ninja assigned to test him this time is an elite Chūnin," the Third Hokage replied with a smile.

Kai frowned, clearly displeased. "While I regret the death of Tōmoku, a ninja must accept the risk of dying on a mission. If you can't handle that, you don't deserve to be a ninja."
The middle-aged ninja was momentarily speechless, his face turning red with anger. "Kid, you talk big. I can't kill you, but I'll show you the true power of a ninja!"
Kai extended a single finger and said calmly, "One minute."
The middle-aged ninja was stunned before sneering darkly. "Kid, the assessment requires you to last ten minutes against me to pass. One minute is more than enough—for me to finish you off!"
Kai chuckled. "I meant that I'll finish you off in one minute. If I fail, I'll consider my graduation assessment a failure."
The middle-aged ninja's face turned bright red with rage. "Kid, arrogance has its limits. I'll show you that ninja battles aren't child's play!" With that, he hurled several shuriken at Kai.
Kai flicked his hands casually, throwing a few shuriken that instantly intercepted the incoming ones.
"If you like shuriken so much, let me show you what real shuriken throwing looks like!"

A barrage of shuriken and kunai rained down from all directions toward the middle-aged ninja.
Seeing such a dazzling display of ninja tool throwing, the middle-aged ninja was startled. He hadn't expected Kai's counterattack to be so fierce. Hastily, he threw a few kunai, managing to deflect only a few of Kai's incoming shuriken.

At that moment, the middle-aged ninja spotted an opening and quickly moved to exploit it.
Kai smirked. "Fool. Do you really think I'd leave such a big flaw in my attack?"
Just as the ninja slipped through the shuriken barrage, a kunai suddenly appeared right in front of his face. Instinctively, he raised his own kunai to block it.
The two kunai collided, and the one thrown by Kai lost its momentum and veered off course. Just as the ninja was about to catch his breath, he noticed something unusual—the handle of Kai's kunai looked different.
