Chapter 25 - 25 - Rewards [2]

After talking to the servant, he told me to come with him to see all the items Umar had.

I wasn't as hungry as before, so I just reluctantly agreed and went with him.

I grabbed a big chunk of roasted pig meat though, to eat along the way.

But contrary to what I expected, we didn't go that far. We just headed into a different room connected to the prize room.

And inside of it—

There lay multiple white cloths, some with a bunch of items placed on top of them.

I looked at the cloths, curious on what they are for. And noticing that—

"Each cloth belongs to different defeated gladiators. If you see items on them, that just means the winner hasn't claimed their prize yet."

The servant explained as I followed behind him.

"Is that so..."

I mumbled, seeing about four white cloths with items on them.

'I guess the winners are in pretty bad condition if they're still unclaimed right now.'

I thought to myself. But remembering my first fight and the condition I was left in after that—

'Meh, that's normal, I guess...'

I just shrugged it off and minded my own business, eating.

And in the next moment—

Tap—

"We're here."

The servant and I stopped in front of a white cloth at the very end of the room.

"These are all Umar's possessions. Once you select one of them, you can get it immediately, and the rest will be sold by the boss. No take backs so pick wisely."

He immediately explained, looking at me.

"Okay, got it."

I replied, munching the food in my mouth. Then, I brought my attention to the items in front of me—Umar's items.

"Hmm..."

There's only a few of them here, probably because like me—Umar is also just a low-rank fighter.

And he only have three fights under him, so he's pretty new in this place too. He probably got here just months before me.

Anyway, I looked through Umar's items.

"Hmm..."

What caught my attention immediately was his battle axe that he used in our fight. It looked strong and solid.

"Nah."

But I immediately shook my head and ignored it right after.

'I wouldn't be able to use it, it's too heavy for me.'

I thought to myself. Then I continued browsing through Umar's belongings.

All he had aside from his weapon were clothes and jewelry, cheap-looking ones.

'Bruh, is there even something worth taking here?'

I asked in my head, my brows furrowing together.

I stared at all the stuff long and hard, searching for something I could actually use.

"..."

I remained silent for a long time.

Seconds passed and turned into minutes.

"..."

Even the servant was looking at me impatiently now.

But then, at the corner of my eye—

"Hm?"

Something caught my attention.

"What's that...?"

It was a stick, but not really... because at one end of it was a small metal blade.

"Is that a spear?"

I asked, looking at it.

"Hmm, looks like it. Umar probably tried to make one but failed, that one is too short and light... It would break easily."

The servant behind me mumbled after taking a look at it.

Then, facing him—

"So he made a javelin accidentally? That's funny."

I followed with that, a smirk rested on my face.

And hearing my question—

"...?"

The servant tilted his head in confusion. He looked at me weirdly too.

"Why? Did I say something wrong?"

I muttered, raising a brow.

And opening his mouth—

"What's a javelin?"

The servant asked me that.

"... Huh?"

I let out a noise, dumbfounded.

'Is this guys serious?'

...

...

*****

I simply explained what a javelin is to the servant. I explained to him that they're small spears specifically made for throwing at enemies.

And after hearing that—

"Haha, that's funny."

The servant just laughed at me.

"Throwing your weapon is stupid. Yes, you could kill one, but what's next? What will you use to fight? And if ever, you'll just be giving the enemies an extra weapon."

He said smugly as if he was educating me.

I mean, yeah. What he's saying is true... Javelins are essentially just one-time use weapons.

They weren't the main weapon in heavy battles like wars and knight battles in history.

But in skirmishes, ambushes, or as a first strike before hand-to-hand fighting—

'They're very useful.'

Like crazy useful.

And in a one on one gladiator match?

'I can definitely use it.'

I muttered in my head.

And seeing that nothing else caught my attention from Umar's belongings—

"I'll be taking this weird ass spear."

I declared that to the servant, holding the javelin up in my right hand.

And looking at me—

"Haaa..."

The servant just shook his head and sighed, looking at me with disappointed eyes.

"..."

I just let him be. I can't blame him for being ignorant and stupid about a javelin.

"Sure, you can take that. Want me to have someone bring it to your room?"

He asked me.

And without hesitation—

"Yeah."

I simply replied, smiling.

I don't want to bring it with me everywhere, I want to enjoy this prize room more freely.

...

After deciding that I would take the javelin—

The servant called for someone and asked them to bring it back to my room.

Then after that, he continued on telling me about my rewards.

"You did well in your first fight, and basing on the money you brought into the boss's pockets... you will receive ten battle points."

He said, listing that under my name so I could use them later on.

Then with all that done—

"I think that's all for now. Good luck in your future battles, see you."

The servant led me back to where I was eating earlier and left me alone with a simple farewell.

I just waved at him goodbye.

And by that time...

"Hmm..."

I was already full and had nothing else to do.

And so—

"Time to clean myself then."

I decided to take a bath.

There's a place here for that, apparently. The servant said so earlier.

I searched for that place excitedly.
