Chapter 6 - Chakra

----

-----

Two years have passed since my reincarnation.

The Root training curriculum adhered to a strict regimen, focusing on physical conditioning and discipline. Though my body was only two years old, the training consisted of basic limb exercises-crawling drills, balance training, and repetitive motions designed to build foundational muscle control. Predictably, these exercises were inefficient for true strength development. The limiting factor was simple: I am a 2 years old kid. Sigh.

However, limitations exist only for those who accept them.

By secretly intensifying my training in solitude, I managed to accelerate my muscular development within safe psychological thresholds. As a result, my overall abilities had reached a level comparable to a 7-8 years old kid. A satisfying result, yet frustrating in its ceiling. Any further progress would risk permanent injury due to the immaturity of my growth plates.

Biology had its limits after all.

Chakra, however, didn't.

Unlike in my previous world, where all strength was dictated by biological limitations, this power defied known physics. Understanding it meant expanding the very concept of what was possible.

The first true lesson in chakra control came under the guidance of Tiger, one of Root's instructors.

"Sit still."

I complied, sitting cross-legged on the cold stone floor of the training room. Tiger placed his hand on my back. A faint pulse ran through my body.

"Tell me where you feel it."

A simple request. The purpose was clear identifying chakra flow. But what was "chakra flow" in scientific terms?

I focused.

In physiological terms, this was an interoceptive task-perceiving internal signals from the body. The brain processes such signals through the insular cortex and anterior cingulate cortex, regions responsible for subtle bodily awareness.

I isolated the sensation specific to chakra flow. It was distinct-neither muscle contraction nor nerve impulse alone. Rather, it felt like an underlying current beneath bioelectric activity, running through paths that did not fully align with the nervous system.

"Interesting."

Of course, I reported only a vague sensation, enough to appear normal..

The second phase of chakra training was more direct.

A single leaf was placed in my palm.

"Push your chakra into it."

A vague instruction. Meaningless without further clarification. But if chakra was in any way biologically linked, then I could construct a model based on existing scientific principles.

The human body constantly produces bioelectric signals through neurons, using sodium, potassium, and calcium ion exchanges. Meanwhile, a leaf is a biological system that conducts electrical impulses via vascular bundles that transport water and minerals.

Plants, too, generate action potentials-voltage shifts caused by ion movement. Their electrical signaling mechanisms function similarly to neurons in animals.

I controlled my breath and tried to imagine the leaf as a prosthetic arm connected to my nerves.

A flicker.

Then, suddenly-

The leaf burst into flames. Can i do this to humans tho?

Within seconds, it disintegrated into ash.

The Root operator stiffened, clearly taken aback. Analyzing the result, I concluded that I had overloaded the leaf's natural conduction system. Excess chakra had likely accelerated ion transport to an unstable degree, causing thermal runaway.

A miscalculation. But a valuable one.

They handed me another leaf. This time, I adjusted. Refined my input.

Instead of overloading it, I maintained a controlled output. Slowly, the leaf lifted from my palm, hovering in the air. It began rotating at a stable, rhythmic pace-synchronized with my breathing.

The Root instructor watched for a moment before becoming even more shocked.

"You we're supposed to just make it stick to your skin, but Danzo-Sama would definitely be pleased."

This was the longest proposition i ever heard Tiger say.

It looks like I should've used a really small amount of chakra. Perhaps, that was all the chakra a regular kid would have at my age. But why do i have acces to larger quantities? It is because i tried to be aware of it and intentionally feel it since i was born? If so, then a person should be able to increase his chakra capacity simmilar to how muscles or the brain works. Very interesting.

I assume chakra pathways exist separately from the nervous system, yet they interact with it.

-----

A methodical approach is the key to mastering any system.

The days blurred together, marked only by the increasingly complex experiments I conducted in private. The initial exercises had served their purpose, but to remain bound by their limitations would be foolish. The true nature of the chakra lies in its functional mechanics-something I intended to fully dissect.

In my dimly lit room, the air remained still, save for the occasional flicker of chakra-infused movement. Several leaves hovered around me, rotating in synchronized orbits, each one manipulated by minute chakra pulses. Some clung to my skin like iron shavings to a magnet, held in place by an invisible force. Others glided through the air, caught in a delicate balance of controlled energy output.

If too little chakra was applied, the connection was weak-useless. If too much was forced through, it disrupted the balance, causing the object to either burn or be repelled violently. After several failed calibrations, I identified the threshold at which chakra bonded with external objects without causing damage. The same principle applied to my own body.

By directing chakra into my fingertips, I enhanced my tactile sensitivity, allowing me to feel minuscule imperfections on a surface. This was useful when practicing the release of thin chakra strands into the air-subtle extensions of my perception that acted as vibrational sensors. A crude yet effective imitation of echolocation. I realized that my body was doing it by instinct by the times i was feeling the chakra of people who passed outside my room.

Chakra reinforcement was another field of experimentation. I had already proven that excessive reinforcement could incinerate a leaf; now, I focused on controlled applications. Gripping a fragile clay cup, I alternated between softening my touch and increasing pressure, measuring exactly how much chakra input was required to apply force without shattering the object.

Muscular control played an equally important role.

By directing chakra through specific muscle fibers, I discovered a way to enhance grip strength selectively. A normal person's grasp relied on muscular contraction alone-mine now included chakra distribution to maximize control. If I had to, I could crush bones with ease. But this will work only on a normal human from my old world, if the other person also enhanced his muscles and bones with chakra, the amount of force needed will further increase.

A single sheet of paper rested on the floor. My task was simple: tear it. But not with my hands.

Instead, I extended a concentrated, thread-thin layer of chakra outward. Theoretically, a precise enough application should disrupt the paper's weak structural integrity. Much like how a razor's edge creates controlled fractures at a molecular level, chakra could function similarly if refined enough.

A small pulse-nothing happened.

A steady stream-the fibers began shifting.

A rapid, refined burst-the paper split cleanly down the middle.

The principle behind this was the controlled release of energy waves into the material. Paper, composed of tightly packed cellulose fibers, weakens when exposed to concentrated vibration. My chakra acted as the catalyst for that disruption. If applied to more resilient materials, the results could be far more destructive.

A bowl of water sat before me, perfectly still. My next objective was to manipulate it without disturbing its structure.

Water's surface tension is dictated by cohesive forces between molecules, primarily hydrogen bonds. If I disrupted those bonds too forcefully, the water would scatter-an indicator of inefficiency. A subtle, rhythmic pulse of chakra yielded better results.

The ripples formed in near-perfect concentric circles, undisturbed by erratic movements. I refined the process further, altering the waveform of my chakra output to create distinct patterns. With time, I could likely control liquid movement with precision-a useful skill for later applications.

At this stage, the next logical step was vertical movement.

Observing insects provided a fundamental clue. Geckos, for example, use microscopic hair-like structures called setae to create van der Waals forces, allowing them to cling to surfaces. Since I lacked such an anatomical feature, chakra needed to compensate.

Theoretically, surface walking could be achieved by directing a steady flow of chakra to increase friction between the foot and the surface. If miscalculated, the result would be either an immediate fall or excessive repulsion. The first attempt confirmed this.

As I stepped onto the wall, my foot stuck momentarily before slipping away. Chakra dispersal had been too weak. Adjusting the flow, I tried again, this time focusing on a stable, sustained output. After several iterations, I achieved the correct balance-each step now held firm, my body perpendicular to the ground as if gravity had ceased to function.

From walls, I progressed to ceilings.

Hanging upside down, I transitioned into slow, deliberate push-ups. Gravity still applied its force, but with each repetition, my muscles adapted. Chakra reinforced my joints, preventing hyperextension, while maintaining balance through micro-adjustments in output.

This was the peak of my current level-until a faint disturbance in the hallway interrupted my concentration.

A Root operative.

With a silent exhale, I released my chakra hold, flipping effortlessly to the ground. By the time the door slid open, I sat cross-legged, feigning meditation. The operative scanned the room but found nothing unusual.

Once the door closed again, I exhaled slowly.

Progress was steady.

Energy, no matter its origin, follows laws that dictate its behavior. Understanding these laws provides control-control over oneself, control over others.

A faint blue glow flickered at the tip of my index finger. The light emerged for a brief moment before vanishing, only to return in an endless cycle of repetition. Each time the chakra appeared, I noted the sensation-how much effort it took, how it fluctuated, and how my body reacted.

Chakra is a form of energy.

This is an undeniable truth. And if it is energy, then it must be measurable. In physics, energy is quantified in joules. Every action, from lifting an object to heating a surface, has a defined energy cost. Yet, shinobi society-if it exists beyond these walls seems to operate on instinct rather than precision.

It is inefficient.

I can assume that chakra has some form of baseline measurement. A unit that can be scaled up or down, adaptable to different techniques. Since no existing system has been introduced to me, I will create my own.

I will call it the Chakra Unit-Ch.

1 Ch represents the minimum amount of chakra required to produce a visible. manifestation. Anything beyond this can be scaled accordingly:

1 kCh (kiloChakra) = 1,000 Ch

1 MCh (MegaChakra) = 1,000,000 Ch

1 GCh (GigaChakra) 1,000,000,000 Ch

With this foundation, the next step is determining how much chakra my body holds at maximum capacity.

Since I lack external measuring devices, I will rely on a biological method.

Maintaining a glowing fingertip is a low-level, repeatable technique. By holding the glow at a constant rate until exhaustion, I can measure how long my chakra lasts and use it as a reference for my total chakra pool.

The test begins.

The chakra glow remains stable. Time passes.

By the time I reach complete depletion, 52 minutes and 30 seconds have passed.

This technique consumes 5 Ch per second.

By multiplying the consumption rate by duration:

5Ch/sec x 3150sec =15, 750Ch

My full capacity is approximately 15,750 Ch.

With my chakra fully depleted, i sit motionless, focusing on recovery. Without external stimulants, my body's natural regeneration process takes effect. I track the seconds.

When my chakra reaches 100%, exactly 3 hours and 40 minutes (13,200 seconds) have passed.

Using simple division:

15,750Ch 13.200sec ≈1.19Ch/sec

At rest, my body regenerates 1.19 Ch per second. This rate might increase with training, but for now, it serves as an accurate baseline.

Now that I have a measurement system, I can assign an energy cost to previous exercises.

Maintaining a glowing fingertip: 5 Ch/sec

Wall walking: 15 Ch/sec (ideal efficiency)

Sustaining 100 floating leaves simultaneously: 25 Ch/sec

External chakra extension (creating ripples in water, paper cutting, air vibration detection): 8-12 Ch/sec, depending on precision

These numbers give insight into what is possible. If I only had 100 Ch, I could wall walk for less than 7 seconds before depletion. If I had 100,000 Ch, the technique could last for hours. But raw quantity isn't everything.

A person with 500 Ch might seem weaker than someone with 1,000 Ch. But if the former uses his energy at twice the efficiency, the advantage shifts.

To formalize this concept, I define a formula:

Chakra Efficiency (%)=(c)×100 Ch available,

Using my previous data, my efficiency during wall walking is calculated as:

(15Ch × 100 = 100%

But real-world application introduces imperfections. On average, due to slight fluctuations, my efficiency hovers around 90%.

How does this compare to Root operatives?

I have no reference. But if their efficiency is 80% or lower, my techniques consume less energy than theirs for the same output. If they are above 95%, then my precision is still lacking.

I will need to observe them closely.

For now, this system will serve as my framework. It is only the beginning of something far greater.
