In truth, their Cores weren't worth much, but he could still get something for them. But there was no medicine for regret, and Jeremy didn't care too much. He could kill much stronger monsters; credits wouldn't be a problem in the future.
But now things were different—now he needed them, even for his friends.
"Alright," said Jeremy with determination, "Don't worry. I'll take care of you. You can't stay with a Low Potential for much longer. You'd only die. Leave it to me."
Jeremy looked deeply at the two boys. Even though he no longer felt the same emotions as before, he still cared a little about them. They'd shared good times, and the simple fact that they cared about him—so much that they were willing to face certain death just for revenge—had warmed his heart.
"Jeremy… what do you mean?" asked Ivan, confused.
"Don't tell me you suddenly became rich," Nathan said, eyes wide. "Could it be that the Headmistress gave you a ton of credits?"
"No, not at all," Jeremy shook his head.
Then he proceeded to sell all the Cores he had.
A total of 141,000 credits was pocketed by Jeremy.
"Wow," Jeremy thought, staring at the number. "I'm rich." But when he looked again at the price of the potions, his face turned pale. He barely had a tenth of what he needed to buy a Medium Potential potion, let alone one for High Potential. But at least it was a start.
The moment the two saw the amount Jeremy had earned, their expressions filled with disbelief and fear. The sum he had obtained in the blink of an eye was enormous—but would it be enough?
"Hey, man," said Ivan after a minute of silence, "I appreciate what you want to do for us, but we also came here to buy some gear for you. We can't forget about you, right?"
"Oh, right," Jeremy replied, shaking his head. "Let me take a look."
With a quick motion, he began navigating through the panel, filtering the options to find the items most suitable for him. Instantly, he was struck by the immense power of the Rank A items.
Many of the ones he saw seemed oppressively powerful, like they belonged to another level. Rank A items were meant for those who had already reached incredible heights of power, and those prices… they were out of reach.
Among the options, one item in particular caught Jeremy's attention.
"Scepter of the Spirit Lord"
• Type: Scepter
• Rank: A
• Bonus: Increases intelligence by 50%, undead control power by 70%, and allows the summoning of a level 50 skeletal servant.
• Price: 50 million credits.
Jeremy blinked. "50 million…" he whispered in disbelief. This scepter would revolutionize his necromancer abilities, but the price was outrageous. His current total of 141,000 credits seemed laughable in comparison.
Then he scrolled through more Rank A items—gear that could give him the power he was looking for.
"Amulet of the Void"
• Type: Amulet
• Rank: A
• Bonus: Increases intelligence by 40%, grants resistance to magical damage, and protection against psychic attacks.
• Price: 25 million credits.
"Cloak of Oblivion"
• Type: Cloak
• Rank: A
• Bonus: Increases intelligence by 30%, reduces damage received from undead creatures by 50%, increases the duration of summons.
• Price: 35 million credits.
Every item Jeremy laid eyes on felt like a wonder—yet at the same time, a distant dream. They were so powerful that acquiring just one of them would grant him a tremendous leap in terms of abilities. But the credits required were completely out of reach.
The total cost of a single piece was worth hundreds of times the sum he had just earned. It wouldn't even be enough to buy a single Rank A item, let alone those with the best traits.
Jeremy shook his head, feeling a sting of frustration. "I have to come up with something. My friends are counting on me."
He then scrolled down to the Rank B items. And finally, something more accessible began to take shape.
"Lesser Necromancer's Amulet"
• Type: Amulet
• Rank: B
• Bonus: Increases Intelligence by 20%, improves undead control by 30%.
• Price: 1,000,000 credits
"Necromancer's Hat"
• Type: Hat
• Rank: B
• Bonus: Increases Intelligence by 15%, allows telepathic communication with undead.
• Price: 800,000 credits
"Potion of Darkness"
• Type: Potion
• Rank: B
• Bonus: Temporarily increases the power of undead and resistance to dark magic.
• Price: 300,000 credits
Jeremy paused to think. If he sold more monster Cores or completed a few extra missions, he might just be able to gather enough credits to purchase one of these. They weren't as powerful as the Rank A gear, but they would still represent a massive upgrade to his capabilities as a necromancer.
"There," he said, turning to Ivan and Nathan. "There are some items that might suit me. Not exactly what I had in mind, but they could help me take a big step forward."
Ivan stepped closer to the panel. "…You've got to be kidding."
"Seriously," Nathan added, surprised. "You should be looking for stuff you can actually afford—did you even check the price?"
But Jeremy wasn't listening.
Looking at the items listed in the store, something struck him. These items… sure, they were powerful. But the additional effects didn't seem all that interesting. His class wasn't that of a simple necromancer, after all. No—maybe it never was.
His summons were permanent, and he had absolute control over them. He could already communicate with them fairly well; they couldn't speak back, sure, but they could obey his orders perfectly.
He didn't even bother checking the lower-ranked items. They were truly weak and wouldn't boost his power significantly. Still, one object in particular caught his eye.
It was a scepter, Rank D. But what caught his attention wasn't its level—rather, it was the way it looked. A skull, carved in an unusual way, with dark sockets that seemed to peer straight into your soul.
"Razorfang?!" Jeremy murmured in disbelief. He hadn't expected to see one of those monsters in this world. After all, he had never seen them here—only in the other world he had recently left behind.
The price was 100,000 credits. Not a trivial amount, but still within reach. However, what really seized his attention wasn't the cost—it was the ability that came with the scepter.
A power that would increase the strength of Undead from the Racoon family by 20%.
Without thinking twice, Jeremy made up his mind. There was no time to waste. If that thing worked as promised, it would push his little Drae'mon to an entirely new level.
Assuming… it actually did work. He had no idea.
"There really are a lot of items for a class that everyone looks down on," he thought. But as soon as he turned his gaze toward the massive selection available for other classes, his smile faded. The comparison… it was downright unfair. The number of options available to others—especially those with more common classes—seemed endless.
And so the trio, after spending more than half an hour inside, finally left the zone.
Jeremy told them not to rush their Rank-up. He wanted to at least provide them with Medium Potential potions.
Potential, after all, wasn't just about stats or the quality and quantity of skills gained after Rank-up. Sure, that mattered—but it wasn't the only purpose.
Potential had only one true goal. The ability to grow stronger.
Only a High Potential had a chance of reaching Rank S.
And only an Apex had the possibility of surpassing it.
A Medium Potential could, at best, reach Rank A—and even then, they would be among the weakest.
That's why Jeremy wanted his friends to wait before ranking up.
And now, he needed credits.
Getting them was simple. He just had to take on tougher Rank C Gates—ones with far more monsters inside than the last one he had cleared. Or better yet, move on to Rank B Gates directly.
