Chapter 8 - A suprise attack.

Kane took his time walking to school. This time he was determined to get there early to avoid getting punished by Miss Samantha. As he walked on, he met up with a firmiliar figure.

" Morning Kane." Fergus greeted him while waving his hand.

" Morning." He greeted back.

Fergus was the team captain of the school's football team. He had blonde hair and shinning green eyes, good looks, fairly good body and a good personality thet made him famous with the ladies. He was the same person Kane was to receive training from that oncoming weekend after completing the his with Alita.

Unlike Alita, Fergus was hardworking and had actual genuine emotions unlike Alita. He was a little bit clumsy but competent. Kane was sure that he would do a much better job teaching him unlike Alita who just gave him a few short statements then put him through hell to teach himself.

As the two walked on together, they had a pretty lively conversations. Fergus having met a fellow gamer, he went on about his favourite game and had a heated argument on which character was the smartest in the game Immortals. Eventually, they came into contact with more pupils who were also heading to school.

" There is something that's been bugging me." Kane began

" What?"

" Just what are The 28 Written Masks?"

Fergus looked at him for a while and scratched his head.

" I guesse we failed to give you an explanation to that. To explain what they are we have to start from the beginning. Many, many years ago, the earth didn't exist as it did today. It was a combination of the Spirit World, Salem, the normal world, earth and the Underworld, Gehanamu to form the Primordial World."

" Demons, spirits and other creatures existed together but under constant war. Everyday was a battle as each species thought only of their survival. Among them were the Giants. With all three worlds being one, there was an overabundance of raw spiritual energy and the Giants were well attuned to it, basically making them gods."

" They waged war with the others and eventually all the species came together to form an alliance. They held a tournament in which the of 28 of the best champions were chosen and they were tasked with fighting the giants. They underwent brutal training and eventually led all the races against the giants in the Great Primordial War."

" The 28 champions who had led the war, upon it's climax had received marks that came as a result of them fully refining their techniques that are now known as The 28 Written marks. The war eventually resulted in the splitting of the Primordial world into the current existing worlds."

" So technically The 28 Written Marks are techniques refined by the 28 champions during The Great Primordial War to form established marks that are passed down to random people called the Gifted" Fergus concluded.

That was a lot for Kane to take in but he took his time processing the information. For a short time, they both remained silent until it was broken by Fergus.

" Something's wrong." he said as he suddenly stopped. Kane looked at him and saw his worried expression.

He then looked around and was that everyone had gone missing.

" Um Fergus, do you mind explaining to me why everyone is suddenly missing?"

Fergus looked up to the sky and saw the sun had turned crimson. Someone had clearly set up a barrier. But who? As a standard rule of engagement while dealing with the supernatural is that one had to at first set up a barrier in order to interact with them. At first Fergus thought that it was an exorcist like Merlin who was dealing with a threat nearby but a wave of dense spiritual energy and immense bloodlust that the atmosphere said otherwise.

Kane was all tensed up an began panicking.

" Fergus, what the hell is going on.?" Kane asked, frightened.

Fergus', eyes and chest began to glow green.

" Congrats Kane, your training session has just been moved up to today."

Kane knew shit was about to go down and with the limited experience he had, bro knew he was cooked. He felt something coming towards them at insane speeds and before any of them could react, their heads were grabbed and bashed together. Had it not beet for Kane maintaining a steady spiritual flow which strengthened his bod, he would have died. But even so, the attack had severely damaged his scull and he began bleeding.

He fell to the ground. His vision got hazy. He was basically seeing in twos and his ears were ringing. He raised his bleeding head to look at the dark figure standing infront of him. It looked like Grimjaw in his Resurrection form but with a black suit of amour. His eyes were glowing deep blue and at the left side his chest was three wavy lines that represented water that glowed blue.

" I never thought that you'd be so weak." It had a deep menacing voice.

Kane looked over to Fergus who was long gone. The figure raised it's left hand to stop a punch from a now transformed Fergus. The resultant force of the punch caused a house nearby to be torn apart.

" Who the hell are you?" He asked with fury in his eyes.

" Me? I'm simply a dead man." The figure replied as it pulled Fergus towards him and gave him a clean puch to the face that caused him to plough the land, destroying houses in th process.

It the flash stepped to where Fergus had crushed and put it's foot on his chest. Fergus had reverted back to normal and his clothes were in shambles. His nose was bleeding and he was barely conscious. He screamed out in pain as the figure increased the pressure of it's foot, crushing his chest. His pain increased as he could feel his chest slowly collapsing.

The figure then lifted up it's right hand and let out it's claws.

" Of all the Gifted I've killed, you are the weakest of them all." It said as it dropped it arm really fast, hoping to claw Fergus.
