Chapter 24: You're Not As Brainless As a Troll

When Dylan arrived at Professor Snape's office, he gently knocked twice.

"..."

The door moved by itself, opening a crack.

Dylan immediately saw Professor Snape sitting at the desk, his face gloomy, as if he hadn't woken up.

He blinked and carefully pushed the door open, then walked in.

"Good morning, Professor. You're up early."

"Come in, don't bother closing the door. You'll be leaving soon enough."

A mocking look flashed across Professor Snape's face.

"As for waking up early... I heard that when you ask others for advice, you follow them from morning till night, as long as they're not teaching. I wouldn't dare neglect you."

"..."

This passive-aggressive little guy is quite cute.

Dylan smiled.

"Thank you for waiting for me in your office so early, Professor."

He turned his backpack around and took out a notebook.

His notebook.

He pulled out a pen, but before he could walk to the desk.

"Swish"

Professor Snape flicked his wand, and a chair appeared.

Dylan sat down without hesitation.

"Mr. Hawkwood, I hope my early rising will allow me to hear something of value, not meaningless nonsense."

In fact, Snape never went to bed late, nor did he sleep in.

He said this simply because he wanted to, to have an excuse to criticize Dylan.

However, hearing Snape's deep voice, as if squeezed from the depths of his throat, an ordinary little wizard might be so frightened that their mind would go blank.

But Dylan's smile didn't fade. He opened his notebook, flipping to the potions section.

"Professor Snape, when conducting in-depth research on potions, the first thing that piqued my curiosity was..."

Snape's eyebrows furrowed slightly, then slowly raised, his brow slightly raised, pulling a fine line at the corner of his eye.

Those black eyes coldly swept over, staring at Dylan.

Very dismissive and cold.

Dylan continued, unaffected, "In fact, when I research any theory, I can't help but try to explore its essence."

"What exactly do you want to ask?" Snape's voice was slightly hoarse.

Not a rough hoarseness, but like sanded silk, low and slightly delicate.

The volume was well controlled; he didn't need to raise his voice to make himself heard throughout the office.

"Starting from the basic principles of magic, are potions affected by external factors?"

Snape frowned, "A seemingly profound question, but actually meaningless!"

"Of course potions are affected by external factors. Now, Mr. Hawkwood, leave my office immediately!"

Snape couldn't hide his impatience after hearing Dylan's question.

Of course, he wouldn't bother hiding it.

However, Snape also noticed something.

This little wizard was quite bold!

Ordinary little wizards would be scared into little quails with just a glance from him.

But Dylan's face made his coldness look like a joke!

Everyone else would be ashamed by his venomous words.

But not this guy!

As a professor, he couldn't use magic to attack a little wizard, could he?

"You've wasted the valuable time of a potions professor. Your house must be deducted..."

Before Snape could finish speaking.

To his surprise, Dylan interrupted him!

"Professor, you don't understand what I'm trying to say."

Dylan looked serious, ignoring Snape's increasingly ugly face, and said, "The external factors I'm talking about are..."

"Are potions affected by the trajectory of the stars and the phases of the moon?"

Snape was stunned.

His greasy hair half-covered his cold, pale face, and his thin lips were pressed into a cold line, which now curved slightly.

His gloomy expression softened slightly because of Dylan's question, his furrowed brows relaxed, and his eyes widened slightly.

"You've also studied the trajectory of the stars?"

Snape raised his bony hand, flicked his wand, and the half-open door clicked shut.

Little tsundere~

Dylan snorted inwardly.

Snape frowned again.

He looked deeply at the little wizard in front of him.

As a Legilimens, he wouldn't use Legilimency on a little wizard.

But he could clearly sense the excitement emanating from Dylan.

He mistakenly thought that the other party was proud, and coldly said, "What, do you think you know a lot?"

Dylan blinked and shook his head.

"How could I? I haven't even finished reading the books in the school library. How could I know a lot?"

This was his sincere truth.

Hearing this, Professor Snape's expression softened slightly, and he spoke in a deep voice like a cello.

"Stars and moon phases are often considered to contain powerful forces in the magical world. Exploring their relationship with potions."

"It requires a deep understanding of the characteristics and brewing mechanisms of the potions themselves, as well as the use of ancient magical knowledge and mysterious forces."

"It's good that you thought of this, but you're thinking too far ahead. With your current lack of knowledge, even if I give you some of the answers, you won't understand."

Dylan smiled. "Since you've given me an affirmative answer, let me tell you what I've guessed."

Snape looked at him noncommittally, but didn't continue with his harsh words.

"As far as I know, the specific magical fluctuations released by the trajectory of the stars may resonate with potion ingredients."

"Then the fusion of materials, the triggering of characteristics, and the timing and duration of the effect of potion brewing may all be affected by the trajectory of the stars."

"As for the phases of the moon... I think that the strength and nature of the energy they reflect may have some unknown relationship with the beginning of potion brewing, the reaction process, and the strength and stability of the effect."

Professor Snape's facial muscles tightened imperceptibly, pulling the fine lines at the corners of his eyes.

A fleeting look of surprise flashed in his dark eyes, his thin lips pursed, then immediately returned to normal.

"Your little brain isn't as brainless as a troll."

"Uh..."

Dylan looked at Snape.

Was that a compliment?

"Since you're really interested in potions and astrology, then I can tell you something."
