Chapter 17 - Chapter Seventeen-Make you fall in love with me

Gina stood, her entire body froze in shock. Did…did Lexis just ignored her? He just walked out on her! Treating her like an air!

The pointed looks thrown at her was so much shame crawled on her body.

"Young lady, I would advise you to leave," the receptionist said, "Mr Woodsman isn't in a good mood. But, you said you're his sister-in-law, why had he turn deaf ears to you?."

Her mocking question made Gina angry, and she stormed out of the place, enraged.

Her mission had completely failed.

All thanks to Lexis.

How dare he ignore her like that? Wasn't she up to his standard?

She would have to ask for the assistant's number through Jason and send the picture to him.

She wouldn't live to see Sabrina happily married to such influential man.

That would be over her dead body.

Sabrina would pay dearly for the disgraced she today.

Lexis was already home when Sabrina got back. She was informed by Naomi that he was in his study room.

"Why is he back so early?." She asked Naomi, who shook her head, "I don't know. He said when you're back you should meet him there."

"For what."

"I'm afraid I don't know."

"Okay." Sabrina dropped her phone and the foods she bought on the coffee table and made her way upstairs.

She paused infront of closed door of Lexis' room, wondering if she should knock or simply get in when a sudden warmth engulfed her from behind.

Her back stifled.

"Lexis." She knew it was him. The usual coffe mixed with tobacco and mint scent from him was familiar.

He tightened his hold around her as he rested his head on the crook of her neck, "My love, where did you go?."

His deep, baritone voice came out muffled.

Sabrina's tensed body visibly relaxed, "I went to buy some Italian foods."

"Naomi could have made it."

"Wanted to taste the outside food. Why you home early?."

Lexis spunned her around and gave a quick peck on her lips, which caught her by surprise.

"There's something I need to tell you."

"O-oh. What's that?."

He opened the door and led her into the study room.

It was beautiful. It was painted white. Some piles of books neatly arranged in the shelf, some documents placed on the desk with a tobacco ashtray placed on it too.

A small sized bed was by the corner.

She cautiously sat down on the bed, "So, what's the important thing you want to tell me?."

"Come closer." He sat on the chair, opposite her.

Sabrina frowned, "Closer to where?."

"Me."

The hesitation on her face made Lexis to laugh, "I don't bite, do I?."

Giving him a suspicious look, she got up from the bed and walked towards him whe she was suddenly yanked by him to sit on his lap.

Her face turned a bright shade of red.

Lexis pulled her by the waist closer to himself, until there was no personal space left between them.

Sabrina could feel the steady warm breathe fanning her neck.

"I like this position better." He rested his head on her breasts.

She pursed her lips. It was stupid—strange of her to feel their current position romantic. It was awkward, she thought.

"My mom. She knows about it. The marriage."

Sabrina stilled once more, "What did she say?."

"She'd love to meet you."

She pulled Lexis' face up so he could see her serious expression, "I can't do that. I can't see her."

"Why not?."

"We will still divorce. Getting to meet her would mean we are ready to spend the rest of our lives together."

Lexis frowned, "Who said we are going to divorce?."

"I did." She muttered, "Lexis, our marriage had only taken place due to circumstances. If I had known you were Lexis Woodsman at first, I wouldn't have taken that step."

"We can fall in love with each other. I like you, Sabrina." She stared at him, wide eyed by his confession.

How could he like her? It wasn't possible.

"You don't. It's just—."

"I do. And I'm very sure of it. It's the first time I have felt like this for a woman for long." Since the disappearance of Claire, his first love, he silently said in his mind. Although it has been seven years.

He lifted her fingers to his lips and under her watchful gaze, he kissed her knuckles one by one, "I will make you fall in love with me, Sabrina. Nothing will make us divorce in this lifetime."

Sabrina looked into his onyx eyes. He didn't know she was already in love with him. Or was she? She wasn't sure about her feelings too.

The sincerity was obvious in his raven eyes.

Was he really…having feelings for her?

"What if your mom doesn't like me?."

Lexis carried her up and placed her on the bed, towering over her, "Then she can as well start to dislike her son."

She blinked her eyes, "You are not saying you will cut ties with your mom because of me, right?."

"No," Lexis kissed the numb of her neck, and she shivered and felt a tingling sensation as his shoulder-length brushed her skin, "but I'll distance myself from her."

"You won't do that."

"Watch me."

"Lexis—."

"We will be meeting our family on Saturday evening for dinner, what do you think?."

"I don't know if it's a good idea. I'm not still prepared yet."

"Prepared for what?." He peppered kisses on her neck, which at the same time made Sabrina to be speechless.

"Meeting your mom."

"I already told her that you'd see her on Saturday."

Her eyes widened, " I still haven't —mmm!."

He kissed Sabrina with ferocity, tangling his tongue with hers, seeking domination, with his hands restlessly moving around her waist.

Sabrina responded, taking it slow, their breathes mingling together.

It was when his hand reached for her bottom did she snap out of her fantasy, and she pushed him away, breathing heavily.

Lexis confused.

"We… we can't do this. I'm not ready yet." She lowered her gaze to the bedsheets, "I'm sorry."
