Chapter 13 – In Search of the Truth
Adrian:
— We could follow this map.
Cordelia:
— Are you crazy? You want to follow the map of a dead man who marked a spot he thought had the answers we're looking for? You must be insane! — Cordelia says.
Adrian:
— Just listen to me, okay?
Cordelia:
— Fine… talk.
Adrian:
— Look, I know it sounds crazy, but the two of us alone will never be able to search for your parents in a place as huge as this divine domain.
Our supplies won't last long enough for a random search. Maybe at that marked location, we can find a way to locate your parents… or even some information about how this domain works.
We might find clues there — and right now, we don't have any.
Cordelia:
— You might be right… but it's still risky.
Adrian:
— What isn't risky in this place? This might be my chance to find clues about my inheritance… and yours to find your parents.
Cordelia thinks:
"He's right… If we keep wandering aimlessly, we'll run out of food… and starve to death in this place.
This is the best lead I've had so far."
Cordelia:
— Alright. Let's do it. If we keep going like this, we're going to die slowly anyway.
Adrian:
— So, you agreed?
Cordelia:
— Yes. What's the plan?
Adrian:
— The plan is for us to go to the city tomorrow and gather everything useful for our journey to the place on the map.
Cordelia:
— At least you're not planning to rush out without a plan.
Adrian:
— Am I really that dumb to you?
Cordelia:
— A guy who just got an inheritance map and wants to go charging in the next day without thinking? Doesn't sound very smart — she says, laughing.
Adrian:
— That's the first time I've seen you laugh. You should laugh more often — Adrian says, smiling.
Cordelia:
— And you should go to sleep. Tomorrow's going to be a long day. Go on, get some rest — she says, heading to bed.
Adrian (thinking):
— Mom… Dad… I'm getting closer to the inheritance. Soon, I'll learn more about you — he says, closing his eyes and falling asleep.
