Mira's POV
"Secondly, I'm sure you must have noticed. We have a new man in our midst. He was just recently promoted to the upper council. Any oppositions?"
"None. It seems you were about to say something vital to the council, Alpha Rowan."
"Yes, very vital. Your queen Serene, a deserving punishment should be meted out to her. Being the Queen gives her no authority over the Luna. It does not make her supreme as well. Trying to take a person's life due to jealousy, it is not an act we should merely overlook." Lucian says.
"What if we lock her up in the dungeon for three days?"
"That is not suitable enough for someone that tried to take down a life here in the palace!" One of them says.
Confused shouts echo all around the hall.
"Silence." Rowan says calmly.
Despite how calm his call for silence is, they all respect his voice and command and keep shut.
"She would appear before th council to commit to her crimes. To prevent such an uproar without further arguments, this is the punishment meted out to Serene. She is going to be flogged outside in the presence of all the members of the clan. Her punishment takes place tonight." He takes a breather and pause.
"Your silence tells us there are no opposition?" Lucian raises one of his eyebrows surprised about the action of the council.
"See all of you tonight. No one is to miss this." Damien says to them and turns back. As soon as we get to the place where no one is watching us, I take off the accessories on my body.
I still feel heavy but I decide to take the rest off in my room.
"Do I have to attend this?" I stretch my body. I'm particularly asking because all of my body feels sore.
"You can rest properly after this." He presses his hands into my shoulders, massaging a spot that almost has me moaning.
"You'd be so good in bed." Damien is already struggling to breathe.
"Feel better?" He takes his hands off.
I'm tempted to say no just to have his hands there again.
"I can see the expression written all over you. There'll be time for that." He straightens his back and goes back to that indisposable Alpha no one knows.
"You ready?" Kai asks me. I raise one of my eyebrows confused at his question. I wouldn't be so surprised if it was coming from Rowan or Lucian considering how they've randomly been checking on me.
"And if I say no?" I ask sincerely. If there are no grave repercussions, I would honestly start going back home.
"You can't, little pup." A smirk is hanging on Rowan's face. I ignore his smirk and go ahead to leave with them. I am already bored of this procedure but I know that this is something that must be done.
"Alpha Rowan."
"Alpha Lucian."
"Alpha Kai."
"Alpha Damien"
"And Luna Mira."
I take deep breaths trying to steady myself. I was never one to appear before public. I never had the chance to ever do so. My father was not one with that platform and that opportunity.
"Don't fret. You will be fine." Kai says to me again. I can't help but wonder why exactly he's keeping up the communication with me.
"Thank you."
I follow them to walk in. Whispers erupt all around the hall. I stare at all of the pack members from the platform where I'm seated and I almost shiver. I still myself telling myself to act just like Lucian.
"You can proceed." Rowan turns and speaks to another of the men there. I didn't realize it earlier but he is actually holding a scroll.
"Yes, Alpha Rowan." He speaks only to Rowan but gives a general bow to the rest of the Alphas.
"All hail the Blackwood Pack!" He lifts his eyes from the scroll and shouts it.
"All hail the Blackwood Pack!" The members of the clan recite it as well. I note it in my head that'd they have a lot of obscure rules.
"This meeting was called to notify the pack members of two things. A member of the lower council has been promoted to the upper council, Justin Aahor."
Shouts and claps fill the atmosphere. I try to smile but when I remember the second reason why we were called here, my mood turns sour again.
"Secondly, I will introduce to you, Our New Luna. Luna Mira."
Everyone keeps quiet and I step forward with the same step I had practiced with Rowan.
"I am excited for this opportunity and privilege to be working with all of you. I will try my best as the Luna to elevate this clan to higher levels. Thank you." They all start clapping but the cheers are not as vibrant as Justin's.
"It is on this note that we will be announcing the last purpose for this meeting. Queen Serene was caught trying to murder the Luna and the breeder of this clan. Meetings have been carried on between the lower council and the lower council and it has been confirmed that certain punishments should be accorded to her as the queen else we promote the wrong vices in our clan. Bring her in." He steps back and the guards come out.
Serene was tied up with chains. I strain my eyes to see the particular one but nothing becomes clear to me.
"Alphas please." He turns back to the the brothers and bows.
"Thank you." Damien stands up from the chair. His dark ink her complicating his look further.
"The punishment attributed to the queen for attempting to commit murder within this palace and staining the walls is lashes no less than 35, she shall be locked up in the dungeon for no less than 3 days. And you shall face a stimulated time frame of probation if she is caught."
"Commuting some actions contrary to her duties and expectations. She will completely dethroned."
