In the nebulous domain, Cillian is in a loss, beside him was a kid no more than ten years old. It's the kid of the family that rode the stagecoach with him.
kururin has since left the domain leaving the two of them here.
This is troublesome..
This event has thrown an unforeseen wrench in his plans, he can't exactly leave this kid.
In the first place what's wrong with her? She hasn't gained consciousness at all.
I might have to awaken her... Bestowing an authority gives a qualitative and rejuvenative effects on the body.
But that is a problem to consider after they leave the domain, for now, Cillian has yet to fully recover.
He overexerted his awakened rank body so he's now staying at the domain taking advantage of its recuperative properties.
Recalling the incident fills Cillian with rage, if not for the kid beside him, he was headed for certain doom.
I won't forget this favor...
Cillian grimaced, he cant do much for now but in the future, the infernal order is on his hitlist, repaying kindness twofold and repaying malice tenfold
In any case, he has to reconsider his plans now, he cant exactly just report what happened to the church or the government as it would put his name under their radar.
He also cant leave the kid anywhere, not that he even wants to, Cillian sees this kid as his savior, the least he can do is make sure that she survives.
"This is making my head hurt"
What's your name anyways?
With a thought, Cillian used the system to see the kid's status. In Ceres, players cant see the whole status of npc's and other players alike, but its enough to see their name even so, the player needs to be in physical contact with the npc to actually see their name.
Which is why its better to just ask the npc for its name, obviously Cillian cant do that so he just patted the kid's head to see her name

Eleanor von Heathers
------------------------
Oh... Isn't this...
Cillian's eyes grew wide, he remembers this name vividly after all who couldn't? This is Saint Eleanor from the Church of Repose!
She would appear as the youngest person to achieve sainthood in version 3.0. She's one of the key individuals that would help solve the plague which is the endgame crisis of that version.
She is also consistently in the top 10 of the character popularity poll in the next few years, it resulted on a lot of players joining the Church of Repose!
I've struck gold!
The earlier worries of Cillian immediately vanished, he immediately vowed to take care of Eleanor as if its his own child!
If Cillian did things properly, Eleanor can be the company mascot increasing his organization's popularity.
Eleanor being the youngest person to receive sainthood means she have a high chance of becoming even more.
After all it wont hurt to have a lot of strong individuals that favors him.
But that is for the far far future, right now she's just a kid, she recently got orphaned too.
Man, now that I think about it, isn't her story a tragic?
Because she appeared in version 3.0 of his past life, Eleanor would probably still survive that event without Cillian somehow because she got in contact with church of repose soon, maybe she was rescued by the church.
She could've survive alone but she still chose to help me.. I would cherish and protect you forever rahhh!!
The very reason why she was popular was because Eleanor has such effect on everyone, an overwhelming charisma that makes everyone unable to ignore her.
Back to the main issue at hand, Cillian had tasked kururin to fight the abominations in the ruined settlement, disrupting the infernal order's plan of getting sacrifices.
Without Cillian's intervention, the churches would probably move to investigate when the news of missing stagecoaches reaches them.
They would probably send a few low ascension hunters to investigate, discover how many abominations was in the settlement and then team up with other church to execute a huge operation.
Who knows how many victims the infernal order's would've reaped by then, with Cillian's instruction the infernal order's plan was disrupted earlier, setting them back quite a bit.
This is enough payback for now..
Now to the next one, Cillian has recovered enough now so he stood up and willed the round table to disappear, the next second an altar of sorts appeared.
The altar itself was not grand, it was the minimum requirement for an ascension ritual, the ground was flat and on it, etched a huge mystical circle, or a magic circle as others call it.
The magic circle contained multitudes of runes, describing the words stability, permanence, stalwart, cohesion and other words anchoring one's existence to the path of divine, therefore reducing the chance of corruption.
Cillian carried the unconscious Eleanor and laid her down on the center of the altar, he summoned his locket and started conducting the ritual.
The ascension ritual is easy for the first step, after all it is just the very beginning of the path to divine, a ritual helping a mundane individual to step up, awakening into something with a bit of divinity inside.
Though conducting the ritual itself is easy, the process of ascension itself was not, the reason why most of the npcs in ceres are mundane is because the church hid almost all knowledge about it.
Though the church does not explicitly prohibits it, the fact that they doesnt want the mortals to ascend is evident with their fearmongering.
The information about the corrupted abominations are disseminated to the whole world by the churches, making the civilians scared at even touching the path of mysticism.
While the reasoning of the church is noble, which is to stop stupid humans from attempting to ascend only to fail and transform into a grotesque mindless abomination, it is also to keep other church and organizations in check.
All of the official ascension in ceres are strictly managed, you can get authorities from organizations like the hunters guild but only after you reach silver rank, the same goes for the shadow clan and the merchant's association.
In the end, only those in power can even attempt ascension, the people below has no choice but to try and ascend in other ways leading them into joining hidden organizations and demonic organizations..
Humanity's curiosity is insatiable... and only the dead knows no fear.
