Chapter 40 - The Choice

As the three of them exited the bar, Cheng Anya suddenly found herself in a dilemma.

"I'll take you home!" Ye Chen and Yang Zekun said in unison. Their eyes met briefly, each filled with an unyielding intensity, then both turned their gaze to Cheng Anya.

Ye Chen's was icy and sharp; Yang Zekun's was warm yet firm—neither man willing to back down.

Compared to his gentle demeanor inside the bar, Yang Zekun now seemed much more composed and leisurely. He said calmly, "Third Young Master Ye, there's no need to trouble yourself with something so small. Right, Anya?"

He leaned in close, whispering into her ear. The warm breath of a man brushed past her earlobe, and from the outside, it looked as though he was kissing her ear—intimate and suggestive.

Cheng Anya froze as if struck by lightning, her body stiff, face flushing pale and red like a child caught doing something wrong, completely flustered.

What did Senior say?

Ningning?

What did he mean by that?

Ye Chen's eyes narrowed dangerously. His gaze turned dark and sinister—the familiarity and closeness between the two left no room for him to intervene.

"President Ye, it's late. No need to trouble yourself. Senior can take me home," Cheng Anya tried to sound composed, avoiding Ye Chen's gaze. She got into Yang Zekun's car.

The black Lamborghini sped off into the night, leaving Ye Chen standing there, his eyes glinting like a predator in the dark. He clenched his fists tightly, then suddenly kicked his car in frustration.

The elegant mask he wore was finally torn to shreds under the night sky.

The expensive Rolls-Royce silently bore its master's fury, shaking three times under the force of the blow.

The ride was quiet. Cheng Anya, knowing full well that Yang Zekun had figured something out, was extremely tense. Her heart pounded—could she still deny it?

At that moment, she couldn't help but curse Ye Chen's genes. Ningning resembled him far too much—seven parts alike. His youthful face was practically a miniature Ye Chen.

Damn these alpha genes—so strong they even made denial hard.

Did Senior know all along, even years ago?

Why hadn't he ever mentioned it?

The car stopped outside her apartment. Cheng Anya wanted nothing more than to escape the awkward tension, but of course, Yang Zekun wasn't about to let her off the hook so easily.

"Ningning… is Ye Chen's son?" he said—not a question, but a statement.
