She fixed him with a 'you didn't know that?' stare,
"Yeah, depending on class and race and treasures. At base tier less, some races live for thousands of years. Humans are actually a pretty average lived race. Some races live almost ten times longer."
Reign felt his understanding of the world had been turned upside down. Ravena saw his expression and felt that perhaps she had shaken his worldview too much.
"it's not all roses however. You see, races with long lifespans have low reproduction rates. Dragons have an abysmal reproduction rate. There are millions of human to one dragon, same to other races. There are also thousands of goblins to one human, so, it's a matter of lifespan, reproduction and potential."
Reign felt he needed to align his worldviews again in this world, otherwise he might just go crazy. He looked at the fire lizard, the fierceness it had before had disappeared, leaving only affection for him.
The contract couldn't be taken back, and he didn't have the desire to anyway.
He sensed that he could give instructions to the fire lizard. He instructed it to stay and heal. He didn't know if it could even heal from such injuries.
Ravena saw him looking at it's injuries, "Don't worry, this is a tier 3 being, and a fire lizard at that. It can definitely heal from that. Now leave it and let's go before that drake emerges out here."
After getting past the third rank, they didn't meet any more fire lizards. They followed the tunnel till they arrived at the ends of it.
There was a massive door at the end of the tunnel, it was open and they both made their way into it.
The moment they did, a huge slitted eye opened and gazed at them coldly.
Rein felt his heart beat fast in his chest when he saw what was waiting them in the room.
It was a huge rectangular room made of marble and a strange metal. Bright crystals, similar to the one mirage had, hung on the walls providing a subtle light that shone on the interior of the room.
There were overturned platforms on the ground looking as if they had been knocked over by a huge beast.
Reign could see the culprit at the end of the hall. At the other end of the hall was another door, set in it was a large luminous pearl radiating a power Reign was incomparably familiar with, draconic power.
Below the crystal lay a humongous fire Lizard. It's body was almost 15 feet tall and it emitted an extremely tyrannical aura.
Reign could feel himself almost suffocating before that aura.
Mirage's voice rose in his mind, "That woman is crazy. That is an epic beast, a drake! An actual epic beast with a draconic bloodline. Is she trying to get herself killed?"
The beast fixed it's gaze on them. It was cold and nonchalant at first, seemingly not taking them seriously at all, then it saw Reign.
The beast eyes shrank before it's gaze changed. It carefully felt Rein's aura, feeling the rich bloodline coming from hi. its gaze became greedy and hungry as it settled on Reign. it had a feeling that as long as it consumed Rein, it would be able to go through a thorough transformation.
Reign felt a chill race down his back at the gaze the fire drake levelled on him. This was the gaze of a predator before his prey.
The dragon bloodline in his body emitted an intense feeling of dissatisfaction at being viewed as prey, especially by a lizard with an impure bloodline.
The fire drake stood up, it's eager gaze set on Reign. It completely ignored Ravena, not putting her in it's eyes. Reign felt a bit of regret for agreeing to follow Ravena.
The fire lizard rushed straight toward them, its huge body moving unnaturally fast for the lizard's size.
Ravena saw this and quickly cast a spell, a multitude of thick icicles quickly manifested and rained on the Fire drake. They hit the drake with extreme accuracy but with dull thuds, they bounced harmlessly off the drake's thick scaly skin.
Reign felt that they were completely doomed. They were definitely going to become Lizard chow.
Ravena though wasn't worried, she was extremely calm. Seeing the drake almost upon them a thick earth wall appeared before it. The wall was angled an angle towards the lizard, it's top filled with ridged spikes.
The drake ran into the wall with full force. This time, it wasn't able to shrug it off without damage.
The momentum of its huge body made the spikes dig into the it's tough skin. A big wound appeared on its neck, which then promptly began healing.
The lizard however was enraged, because Ravena had cast an extremely corroding ray onto the wounds, which began to open again. The enraged drake charged again only for Mirage to grab Reign and teleport to the other side of the room.
The drake immediately spotted them, this time it didn't charge. It opened its mouth, a huge fireball gathering, even from across the room, he could feel the scorching heat from this fireball. The drake spat out the fireball which zoomed out towards them.
Reign had a feeling that he would definitely not be able to block this fireball. Even a magic shield seemed frail before the ferocious energy emanating from the fireball.
Ravena cast another spell, detonating the fireball from a distance. The explosion was deafening, a strong force erupted from the detonated fireball, engulfing the entire room.
Mirage placed shield after shield that blunted the effect of the force, finally wearing it down. it could be seen though that the drake completely outclassed them.
Reign had a calm expression on the outside, but he was freaking out inside. What the heck was that? A single fireball had engulf the entire room, almost taking them out.
What was this total difference in strength? Was it that firedrakes were that awesome or was it that epic beings were so overwhelmingly stronger that third tier beings?
