Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Jiho didn't say a word at first. He just stood there like he was rebooting.

Then his eyes landed on Nakyung, who was happily sipping her coffee like it was movie popcorn.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Watching the couples," Nakyung replied casually, still not realizing who was speaking.

Jiho crossed his arms. "Oh, great. So you're eavesdropping on Mr. Joonseo's private life? Wow. Perfect. I'll be sure to bring that up when they calculate bonuses this month."

Nakyung turned slowly, about to roast whoever dared come for her.

But then her eyes widened like she'd seen a ghost in Gucci.

"Mr… Mr. Jiho?!"

He raised a brow. "Mmhmm. Now walk away before your curiosity gets you unemployed."

Nakyung dropped her coffee in the nearest trash like it had betrayed her and speed-walked away.

"Bye Minji," she whispered with shame, vanishing like a guilty raccoon.

Jiho turned to look at me next.

I just stared at him with the most innocent face I could make.

He knew he couldn't scold me the way he did Nakyung—not because I was innocent, but because I was Joonseo's first assistant.

And Jiho? The second.

There was a silent moment between us where his eyes said "I know you're nosy too."

And mine said "But I'm untouchable, boo."

But then Jiho walked away.

I turned back toward Joonseo's office, staring through the huge glass window. I could clearly see them inside.

"I wonder what they're talking about..." I mumbled to myself.

Then, I saw her.

Yuna, that little brat, touched Joonseo's hand on the table like she owned the whole company.

My eyes twitched.

And then—this girl really had the audacity—she looked at me and smiled like she just won a prize.

But wait—it gets worse.

She picked up the remote and pressed a button.

The glass turned white.

She closed the blinds. I couldn't see them anymore.

"Stupid you," I muttered, standing up from my chair, mad.

But oh no—I wasn't done yet.

Minji always has a plan.

I headed downstairs, made two perfect cups of coffee in the office kitchen, and took the elevator back up. My heels clicked like I was walking into battle.

I knocked and stepped into the office.

"Your coffee is here," I said, smiling sweetly.

"But I didn't order," Yuna replied, confused.

"I could feel you were thirsty," I said, placing her cup in front of her, then setting Joonseo's cup on his desk gently.

"Thank you, Minji," Joonseo said with a soft smile.

"Anything I can help with?" I asked, glaring at Yuna like she was a fly in my soup.

"No, my dear, you can leave now," Yuna said, rolling her eyes like a teenage villain.

I turned to Joonseo, smiled again. "What about you, Mr. Joonseo?"

He paused. "You can leave, Minji."

I said nothing. I just nodded and walked out slowly, trying not to slam the door.

I sat at my desk again, sipping my own cold coffee.

Hours passed.

The office door opened, and Yuna stepped out, followed by Joonseo.

I stood up instantly.

"I hope to see you more, Mr. Joonseo," she said with a fake smile.

"I'll call you, Yuna," he replied, shaking her hand.

Seriously?

She walked away with her model strut, and Joonseo looked at me silently before going back into his office and shutting the door.

Oh, no. Not today.

I got up, stormed into his office without knocking, and closed the door behind me.

I stood in front of his desk, arms crossed.

"Minji," he said, raising his brows.

"What is she doing here?" I asked, holding my ground.

He stood and started to walk toward me. "It's not your concern."

"Oh, I see. So I was right, huh?" I said.

"You mean?"

"She's your girlfriend, right?" I asked.

"Minji, we were talking about business," he said calmly.

"Business," I scoffed.

"Yes."

I turned away from him, biting my lip.

"Are you jealous?" he teased, touching the tip of my nose.

"No," I said, pulling away, still glaring.

"Then why are you asking about her again and again?" he asked.

"As a friend, I'm just advising you to avoid stupid models," I said confidently.

He chuckled. "You're not my friend, Minji. You're my wife."

I turned away, smiling like an idiot.

Told ya. He only loves me.

"What are you smiling at?" he asked.

"Just… happy that you won't be with that model," I said, unable to hide my grin.

He stared at me intensely.

"I'll go back to work now," I whispered, turning to leave.

But before I could take a step, he grabbed my left arm and pulled me to him.

I stumbled into his chest, just inches away from his lips.

He leaned in and kissed me.

A long, soft, missed-you-so-much kind of kiss.

After a minute, we finally pulled away.

"Joonseo, this is the office. What if someone sees us?" I whispered, blushing.

"I don't care about them. I missed you," he said softly.

I smiled shyly, then quickly backed away. "I'll get back to work now."

I rushed out of the office and sat at my desk again, fanning my face.

Then I held my cheeks with both hands.

But then—ding!

The elevator doors slid open.

It was Mr. Seungwoo.

I instantly stood up from my seat. "Mr. Seungwoo!" I said with a slight bow.

Behind me, the white-tinted glass of Joonseo's office started turning back to its transparent state—like water washing away paint. Great timing.

"Can you tell Mr. Joonseo that we have a meeting in the next hour in the boardroom?" he asked, his tone professional but calm.

"Sure," I replied politely.

He took a few steps forward, then turned back toward me.

"And don't forget to attend too, Minji."

"I will," I nodded.

Then he walked away, disappearing down the hall like a drama character who knew too much.

I stared at Joonseo's office door.

No way I'm going back in there. Not now.

"I should just make a call," I muttered to myself, grabbing the office phone on my desk.

I dialed the CEO office line, trying to sound as formal as possible. The line picked up within seconds.

"Yes, Minji," his deep voice answered.

"I called to inform you that there's a meeting scheduled in the boardroom in one hour," I said, trying not to imagine his face or lips or...ugh, focus.

"Okay," he replied simply—and then hung up.

Click.

Just like that.

"No 'thank you'? No flirting? Nothing?" I mumbled to myself, placing the phone back down.

I crossed my arms and leaned back in my chair.

"Acting like we didn't just kiss in your office, huh?" I whispered.

Then I sighed, picked up a pen, and started clicking it repeatedly.

Meeting in one hour.

With Joonseo.

Great.

Just great.
