The warmth of the morning sun streamed through the windows, casting soft golden light over the room. My eyelashes fluttered as I slowly opened my eyes, stretching lightly—until I felt something heavy around my waist.
A hand.
My body froze.
My neck was resting on an arm, and a firm grip was wrapped around my waist, holding me in place. My breath hitched as I turned my head slightly—only to find Joonseo sleeping behind me.
My heart pounded violently against my ribs.
What the hell?!
Swallowing hard, I carefully pried his hand off my waist, inch by inch. Every tiny movement felt like walking on thin ice. Finally, as I freed myself, I sat up slowly, trying not to make a sound.
"This man is crazy for real," I muttered under my breath.
But before I could move any further, a strong hand suddenly grabbed my wrist, yanking me back.
I gasped as I lost my balance, falling backward onto the bed—right into his arms.
Now, we were face-to-face.
His deep, dark eyes stared into mine, fully awake and completely unreadable.
"Trying to run?" His voice was a low, husky whisper, sending shivers down my spine.
"Joonseo—" I stammered. "Isn't this… crossing boundaries?"
His lips curved into a smirk. "You are my wife, and I am your husband. There are no boundaries between us."
His words were dangerously smooth, laced with something unreadable.
Before I could react, he moved—flipping me beneath him.
I gasped as his weight pressed against me, his face hovering just inches from mine. His breath was warm against my skin. My pulse raced uncontrollably.
"What are you doing?" I whispered, my voice barely steady.
He didn't answer. Instead, his lips crashed onto mine.
This kiss was different.
It wasn't soft. It wasn't hesitant. It was deep, claiming, overwhelming. My hands instinctively pushed against his chest, trying to create space between us, but he didn't budge. He deepened the kiss, making it impossible to escape.
I could feel his heat, his strength—everything about him was consuming.
Then, just as suddenly as it started, he pulled away, his forehead resting lightly against mine. His gaze darkened.
"You are my girl," he murmured, his voice low and possessive.
Before I could say a word, he leaned in again, this time kissing me slowly—controlled, deliberate. My mind was screaming at me to stop this, to push him away, to fight back.
And I did.
Summoning every ounce of strength, I shoved him off me. He let out a quiet chuckle, but he didn't resist as I scrambled off the bed, my breaths coming in quick gasps.
"What is your problem?!" I snapped, my hands clenched into fists.
Joonseo didn't answer immediately. Instead, he calmly reached for his glasses, slipping them on.
In an instant, his entire demeanor shifted. The warmth, the teasing, the intensity—all of it vanished.
Now, he looked cold. Distant. Unreadable.
Like a ruthless billionaire CEO.
"I... I..." My voice trembled as I struggled to form words.
Joonseo's sharp gaze locked onto mine. "From today onward, you will be my assistant."
My eyes widened. What?!
"Why... why me?" I asked, barely above a whisper.
"Do you want to just sit here like a cripple?" His words were cold, cutting deep.
I clenched my fists. "But why?"
He took a slow step toward me.
"Don't come closer," I warned, my voice shaking.
But he did.
Like my words meant nothing.
Like he owned every inch of the space between us.
He leaned in, his deep voice sending shivers down my spine. "Because I'll miss you at work too."
My heart skipped a beat.
For a split second, he wasn't the ruthless CEO. He wasn't the cold-hearted man who had kissed me without warning. He was just Joonseo. The same man who, hours ago, held me in his sleep as if I belonged there.
And that scared me more than anything.
------
We stepped outside, and a sleek black car was already waiting for us. The driver was the same man from before—the one who had interrupted us in the room.
Joonseo didn't say a word as he opened the car door, gesturing for me to get in.
I hesitated for a second before sliding inside. He followed, settling beside me in the backseat.
The car began moving, the hum of the engine filling the silence.
I could feel his eyes on me. Watching. Studying.
I turned my head slightly—and he was staring right at me.
Heat rushed to my cheeks. I quickly shifted my gaze to the window, pretending to be fascinated by the passing streets.
But I wasn't.
I was too aware of the man beside me.
The man who had just claimed me as his assistant.
The man who kissed me like he had every right to.
The man who whispered words that made my heart betray me.
