Chapter 19 - Chapter 19 - Dungeon Floor Boss : Direwolf

Low-Level Dungeon – Last Boss Floor

The Alpha Direwolf let out a deep howl—

"Auuu…"

Right on cue, the three direwolves charged toward me.

But interestingly, they didn't attack all at once.

They moved in a sequence—

The front one leapt first, fangs bared,

while the other two began circling, trying to flank me.

"Tch—smart mutts," I muttered, watching the pattern.

The first wolf lunged. I ducked to the right, just barely clearing its snap.

At the same time, I angled my sword low—down to the left—

and slashed upward in a sharp diagonal from bottom left to top front.

Slash.

Its belly split open midair.

The body hit the ground with a wet thud.

One down.

As I dodged to the right, the direwolf on that side lunged low, aiming straight for my feet.

Too close for a proper sword swing.

So, I dropped low— with a weird posture (can be balanced with Exo).

while preparing my feet to kick

Bam.

I lashed out with my leg in a sharp horizontal kick—

slamming it straight into the beast's head.

The impact sent it rolling back.

Not dead… but out cold.

Before I could even regain my balance, the third direwolf lunged at my left hand.

I shifted my weight onto both feet and raised my arm to block its bite under the chin.

My right hand let go of the sword and locked onto its head.

While turning my body, I kept a firm grip on its chin— third direwolf body now upside down.

I twisted once more my body.

Bam.

My braced elbow slammed straight into its stomach.

When my elbow struck its stomach, the direwolf groaned in pain. But like most dungeon monsters, even on the verge of death, it still tried to attack. Without warning, its jaws opened wide and it snapped at me out of reflex.

Instinctively, I twisted my body to the side to dodge—the sudden move caused its bite to miss completely. I quickly adjusted my stance, bracing myself with one hand on the ground, then bam! My fist came down hard on its head from above.

Its body went limp. The second direwolf was dead.

Just as I took a breath, the Alpha Direwolf had already leapt at me with incredible speed. I quickly shifted to the left and ducked low, in a posture like a sprinter ready to launch from the starting line—my body leaning forward, legs poised to move.

As its claws nearly slashed me, my right hand grabbed its front leg, and my left hand pushed up hard against its lower stomach from below. I twisted slightly to the right, channeling my force upward and forward.

Using the momentum of its own leap and my movement, I flipped its body mid-air—its head and front legs now facing downward, hind legs flailing upward.

After flipping it, I quickly straightened up—raising my chest and partially standing to secure my stance. With my left foot firmly planted, I lifted it and—bam!—kicked hard into its exposed stomach from below.

The Alpha Direwolf was sent flying backward, crashing across the dungeon floor with a heavy thud.

Without wasting a second, I dashed forward, ducked low, and grabbed my sword from the ground.

As I ran, ducking past the second direwolf—

Slash!

I cut across his neck with a swift strike.

Three down.

The Alpha Direwolf had already recovered and was charging at me head-on.

He leapt, jaws wide open.

I leaned forward, tilting my body to the left, my sword held behind me—

its tip pointed forward, ready to strike.

The moment his neck passed beside me, I reached out—

grabbed it—

While bracing against the force of the Alpha Direwolf's leap,

drove my sword straight into his open mouth.

Slab!

The Alpha Direwolf went limp, my hand still in front of his jaws, the blade buried deep in his mouth cavity.

Once he collapsed, I exhaled, then yanked my sword free with a slick pull.

When it was all over, Renya sighed and said,

"You're too reckless, Prince."

She held her head with one hand, clearly exasperated.

I just laughed, rubbing the back of my head.

"Just practice, practice... hahaha."

Renya didn't laugh.

"Prince... you could have avoided it by just turning your body and slashing him."

She placed a hand on her waist, her tone dead serious.

"That…" I mumbled, scratching the side of my forehead with one finger. "I forgot…" I added, turning my face away awkwardly.

Not wanting to drag the conversation on, I quickly said, "Anyway, let's check the loot," and walked toward the chest that had appeared.

"Okay," Ranya replied, calmly following me from behind.

Inside the newly opened chest, three items lay neatly arranged:

Direwolf Fang Necklace

Alpha Pelt Cloak

Mid-High Quality Magic Core

Paul's eyes lit up as he spotted the magic core. He picked it up, inspecting its glow, then grinned.

"This… it's something I've been needing for this trip. Finally got it," he said with a satisfied smile.

Ranya, intrigued by his expression, tilted her head slightly. "What is it, Prince?" she asked.

Paul turned to her, his grin shifting into a playful smile. "Secret," he said softly, flashing a sweet look before slipping the core into his pouch.

After we got out of the dungeon, we regrouped with Kruger and the others, then continued our journey along the main route.

We took a brief 15-minute break at a rest post before resuming our journey toward the next destination—the mid-level dungeon.

As we walked, the silence stretched on, the road uneventful.

"Boring. There aren't even any animals on the road," I muttered, breaking the monotony with a sigh.

When I said that, Greta responded cheerfully, "Well, at least it's good for calming—"

But just as she was about to say 'the mood', she suddenly paused, sensing something off in the forest's atmosphere.

She glanced around, her eyes narrowing as she scanned the surroundings, alert.

After confirming what she felt was real, her expression hardened.

"Damn… this is terrible," she muttered.

When they heard Greta's tone, the others began to notice it too.

Kruger immediately spoke up, his voice low. "Terrible… indeed."

He continued, "Even I, after all my years of adventuring, only just realized it. If we trace it back to fifteen minutes ago, we've walked over a kilometer… and still, not a single sign of life."

As he spoke, both Gunther and Renya nodded with serious expressions.

Seeing the confusion on my face, Renya leaned closer and explained, "Prince… it seems this area has become monster territory."

Her words only deepened my confusion.

"So…?" I asked.

Hearing such a question, Renya answered, "There's only one type of monster I know that does this."

Curious, I glanced around the area and asked, "What monster is that?"

Renya replied in a somber tone, "Goblins."
