Chapter 18 - A TURNING POINT

The next morning, Mirshad couldn't shake the feeling that something important was about to unfold. After informing his father about Baba's call, he decided that they would go visit Baba's house the following day. Mirshad called Baba first thing in the morning to confirm.

"Yes, yes, come over anytime," Baba said warmly. "I'm here waiting for you."

Mirshad and his father made their way to Baba's home, and upon arrival, they found Baba sitting on the front porch. Baba greeted them with a welcoming smile and invited them inside. Once seated, Baba served them tea and snacks, and they spent some time talking about their health and family matters. After a while, Mirshad, sensing that Baba had something important to discuss, asked the question that had been on his mind.

"Baba, why did you ask me to come? What's the matter?" Mirshad asked, his curiosity growing.

Baba, taking a deep breath, finally got to the point. "I heard you lost your job at the restaurant. I was out of town when it happened, but I knew as soon as I got back. I asked the shop owner for your number, and when I arrived, I knew you'd already left. So, I wanted to offer you something."

Mirshad sat up straighter, intrigued. "What kind of offer?" he asked.

Baba smiled. "I'm looking for a driver for my personal errands. Mama suggested I offer you the job, and I thought it was a great idea. So, what do you think? Would you be interested?"

Mirshad glanced at his father, seeking a moment to process the unexpected offer. "Give me a second to talk to my father," he requested.

Baba nodded. "Of course, take your time."

Mirshad stepped aside with his father. "What do you think about this offer?" he asked. "It's not what I expected, but it could be a good opportunity."

His father, ever the calm and supportive figure, looked at Mirshad thoughtfully. "From my side, I'm happy with it. It's a good start, but ultimately, it's your decision. You're the one who's going to work there, not me. So, make sure it's what you really want."

Mirshad took a deep breath and nodded. He walked back to Baba and said, "I'm okay to work as your driver."

Baba's face lit up with happiness. "Good! Then I'll introduce you to everyone."

Baba led Mirshad around the house, introducing him to the household staff. "This is Mama, of course. You know her already. This is Mery, our maid and cook, and this is Sara, my personal assistant. And this is Jabir, my driver. He's new here too—his father worked for me before, but he passed away, so now Jabir is like family."

Mirshad greeted everyone warmly. Baba's family treated him like one of their own, and he felt a sense of belonging.

"I'll go now to grab my things," Mirshad said. "I'll be back in the evening."

"Take your time, Mirshad. We'll be waiting for you," Baba replied, his smile genuine.

As Mirshad and his father left the house, his father gave him some final advice. "So, now you have a new job," he said thoughtfully. "I don't fully understand what's going on in your mind, though. You're an engineer, but now you're working in a completely different field. But I trust you, son. Just remember to be careful with every step you take. Don't forget your potential. Always control yourself, and if you ever feel uncomfortable in a situation, leave before you react. You know how our reactions can affect things. This is something only you and I understand, so please, always be aware of that."

Mirshad listened carefully. His father's wisdom, as always, guided him. This new opportunity was just the beginning, and he was determined to take it with both hands—ready to step forward on his journey with a clear mind and an open heart.
