Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: What happened to Somi

"I look forward to seeing how you all progress during your time here." Professor Mo said ending he speech.

Approaching the microphone was another woman. She is tall with silver shoulder length hair. She wore black metal bracelets.

"I am Professor Balkista. I will be the field instructor for some of you. My job is to make sure you don't die. You will obey all orders when in the field. The wilds and dungeons of the Lowlands do not care about noble ranks. The only thing creatures care about is spilling your blood." Professor Balkista said.

Her words sent shivers down his spine. His encounter with the howler was more than enough proof for Desmond.

"In your first year you will spend a total of 100 hours in dungeons and another 100 hours in the wilds. Failure to complete either of those tasks will result in you remaining a first year. Do you understand?"

The hall was silent.

"DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!" Professor Balkista shouted.

"YES PROFESSOR!" The entire first year class responded.

Desmond was hoping he didn't get Balkista.

"She seems like a hard ass" Desmond thought to himself.

Professor Balkista reminds him a manager he had. Strict as fuck but hard to please at the same time. Desmond was happy when that particular manager switched location. He actually bought his entire department a round at the Bronze Rose.

"I expect you to give it your all in training and in the field. I haven't lost a student yet and I don't plan on starting with class." Professor Balkista.

Desmond felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned to find Omega and Somi sitting behind him. With all the knowledge they had about the academy Desmond thought they were at least second year students.

Professor Balkista returned to her seat.

The next speaker was the headmaster.

"Hello young mages. As many of you know I'm headmaster Sandra Knix. When you graduate, I will submit your paperwork to receive your title." The headmaster said.

Her presence was gentle yet commanding. She was soft spoken, but her words captivated everyone.

"All students on the first level are assigned to Ruby dorm. All the students on the second level are assigned Sapphire dorm. If you are on the third level, you are assigned to Topaz dorm." Sandra Knix said in a gentle tone.

The Entrance ceremony ended.

Desmond was assigned to Sapphire dorm. Him, Omega, and Somi were all assigned to the same dorm building.

After the entrance ceremony Desmond headed for his dorm.

The Sapphire dorm is a grand brick building. Inside the dorm building there was beautiful stone floors. The stairs are made out of gorgeous blue stone. Just on the inside door was a broad with all the room assignments.

Desmond's roommate is name Connor Vincent.

Desmond entered the room. Connor was sitting on one the beds. Connor rolled his eyes when Desmond spoke. Desmond ignored it and placed his bag on the other bed. Desmond didn't bother speaking to his roommate after that.

The first day of classes was in a couple days. Desmond spent those days exploring the campus. He didn't make an effort to speak to Connor after the first day. Connor pretty much refused acknowledge Desmond's existence.

The sun was just above the horizon. Desmond was sitting out on the balcony. He Connor enter the room. Connor threw a bag on his bed.

He heard a loud thud coming from inside. Desmond rushed inside. He found Connor lying face down in the bathroom. Blood was rushing from Connor's head. Desmond rushed down the hall. His dorm advisor was a healing magic user. That was a requirement to be a dorm advisor.

The dorm advisor was curvy woman. Her hair the color of emeralds. Her eyes are a gorgeous hazel color. She has large DD boobs, her waist is slim, she has a nice round ass.

"Tera my roommate collapsed. I need your help." Desmond said ushering Tera toward his room.

Desmond and Tera entered the room. Connor was still lying on the bathroom floor. He was floating in and out of consciousness. Tera kneeled over Connor. Her hands began glowing a brilliant golden color. She was able to stop the bleeding. Next, she closed the wound.

"He should regain consciousness soon. Make sure he takes it easy. I don't want him to pass out again." Tera ordered her voice was soft and elegant.

Desmond nodded. Tera left the room.

He sat on the edge on the tub waiting. He tried to help Connor up off the floor. Connor slapped his hand away.

"Don't touch you filthy Groundy." Connor said his voice filled with contempt.

Desmond wanted to punch Connor in the mouth.

"Stupid son of bitch would've died if I hadn't got Tera." Desmond thought to himself.

His blood was boiling.

"Whatever." Desmond said pushing pass Connor.

Connors back slammed against the sink.

"Clean your fucking blood up off the floor." Desmond said staring into Connor's eyes before leaving the bathroom.

He sat on his bed. His leg bouncing uncontrollably. He has never met someone so damn ungrateful.

"Prick he could've at least said thank you" Desmond mumbled.

Connor emerged from the bathroom. He looked at Desmond. Connor rolled his eyes. He is really testing the limits of Desmond's patience.

Desmond decided to ignore it again.

He laid back on his bed. His eyes closed. Desmond drifted off into the land of dreams. A nap is the one thing that could calm him down. It is best for Desmond to calm himself down. If he didn't, he would've grabbed Connor's head and slammed it into the wall. If it's, one thing Desmond hates its unwarranted disrespect.

"Desmond...Desmond" Omega called shaking Desmond awake.

"What the fuck?" Desmond questioned wiping his eyes.

Omega looked worried. Her hands were shaking, her eyes are red and puffy.

"Has she been crying?" Desmond thought to himself.

"Somi is gone." Omega said tears forming her eyes.

Desmond shot up from his bed.

"What do you mean she is gone? Where did she go?" Desmond questioned his voice filled with worry.

Somi and Omega are the only allies he has. Desmond needs to find her.

Omega fumbled around in her bag. Finally, she pulled out a letter. The letter was addressed to Omega. The letter was in Somi's handwriting.

The tears began flow. Omega clasped her hands together. She tried to calm herself, but it wasn't helping. All he could do was wrap his arms around her. He hugged her tightly.

"We are going to find her." Desmond said his tone reassuring Omega.

Her body was shaking.

"Desmond, we have to find Somi. I can't live without my sister." Omega said wiping her eyes.
