Kate nodded.
"Despite Max's resemblance and charisma, which far surpasses Adam's, they are the opposite of each other. It's as if you were in a river and jumped into the sea. E... Anna! Max is perhaps more dangerous than Adam. I know that the Alpha isn't someone with a flexible personality, but he doesn't share the desires that dominate the men of the Lens family..."
"I don't understand." Anna said, frowning.
"Forget it." Kate said, holding out the empty glass to Anna, who came over, poured it, put the bottle down and sat down next to her.
"You met Max, and you didn't fall in love with him?"
"He was always very snobbish and ignored me. But I'm not going to lie. I had intentions with him. Max studied with me. But it passed after Adam began to enjoy my company too much and we became lovers. We were friends, and lovers. I never thought I would stop loving him. It wasn't in my plans to seduce a big boss and live with him. But life pushes us in the right direction. Also, I always thought that I would marry Adam, and that he would be the father of my children."
"Kate... If you knew I had three more children, would you try to stop Adam from going to Scotland and blackmailing my family?"
"I couldn't. You know that any move I made to delay him, he'd suspect, and I'd be eating grass by the roots by now. But if I had his contact details, I'd let him know he was on his way, because I knew he'd be furious when he found out he had a son, and that he hadn't lived with him for the first few moments of his life. I sent a message on Genevieve's cell phone, alerting Jenna about Adam's departure, that's all I could do. I'm glad to hear that you're okay, and that he didn't hurt your other children."
"Thank you, Kate. But you asked me a question, and I didn't answer. Apart from Adam's blackmail, I did have another reason for coming back."
"You came back to get back at me." Kate concluded.
"No. But you were on my blacklist for a while."
"And why did you take me off it?"
"Because all you did was fight for the man you thought you loved. You used what you knew and acted as you knew it to take him from me. I don't know what I'd do if I felt I was losing Max to another woman... The first time it happened, I didn't act very coherently. In fact. I went mad and blind. I'd kill the woman if I could. So I'm no longer in a position to judge you. You came into his life first, and he simply discarded you. I understand why he hated me."
"Yes. But I wasn't very fair to you either. As I told you the other day, for a long time I wanted to drown you in the pool." Kate laughed. Kate said laughing. "Today I see how foolish I was. How everything I thought about Adam wasn't true. I fell in love with a person I created in my mind, and little by little, Adam himself showed me that he wasn't the person I imagined."
"And you're sure that the man you love today isn't the fruit of your daydreams either?"
"I'm sure. I fell in love with him through living with him, not through dreams. He's real."
"You should tell him about your love..."
"That would drive him away from me. I'm not a woman who wants a family, and I love him so much that I want him to have a family, children. I can live with that, as long as I know he's happy."
Anna stared at Kate thoughtfully for a few minutes. The love that Kate had for this man was true love. Kate didn't seem to know that yet. Her eyes shone dreamily when she spoke of him.
Anna decided that she would find out who it was and help Kate win this man before she left to return to her family.
"If you were only going to be with this man you love, would you give up orgies?"
"I think he likes it, too. That's what attracts him to me."
"But maybe it's not the orgy that attracts him and... Maybe that's the only way he can get close to you. I think he wants you all to himself. Men, especially werewolves, are territorial, and this man must appreciate your performance in bed, and I'm sure that having you all to himself would make him see you as a companion for life."
Kate got teary-eyed, but her expression didn't change.
"Anna. Mind your own business. I don't want anyone trying to get their hopes up inside me. I'm happy like this."
"Kate, I had two people on my blacklist." Anna said, knowing she couldn't hurt Kate. After all, she had betrayed the man who had killed her family. And now, she wished Allister could see that, from hell.
Kate smiled.
"Who's the other person?"
"Sarah. I need to know everything you can tell me about her."
"I don't know much... She's an ambitious witch. She takes pleasure in doing harm... But you can't put her on your blacklist."
"Why not?"
"She raised you. Your father became her lover and she helped your mother look after you, and besides... If she dies, werewolves become wild animals. Do you want to be responsible for unleashing the beast that will decimate humanity?"
"She used my parents. I'm going to kill her, Kate... As for the werewolves, Adam must have already arranged for another witch to help with that detail. Where is Sarah?"
Kate looked at Anna in a puffy, mysterious way.
"Yes. I think he must have found a better witch by now... Sarah must be in her room. She's forbidden to leave there without company. She can't be trusted. I don't understand why Adam keeps her here. The spell only breaks after her death. He could send her somewhere where she couldn't hurt anyone."
"I think I know why. He wants to give her to me." Anna said, and Kate stared in fright, the murderous glint in her eye.
"I don't want you to tell me about what you intend to do. Bonnie, you're the one who likes these things. I abhor it."
