Chapter 39 - Chapter-39 One Last Chance

Jay-jay's POV

It's so nice to look at Calix's face right now. I don't have a crush on him, okay? I just noticed something new. His face looks so refreshed.

He still looks the same—still messy-looking, unshaven, and with thick hair. But there's just something different.

"Do you like Calix now?" Ci-N whispered to me.

I shot him a glare. "Like, already? Can't it just be that there's something new about him?"

He also looked at Calix and nodded. There really was something different about him. He wasn't even smiling; he was still frowning.

Maybe that's just how it is when you feel a little less burdened.

Speaking of feelings...

I suddenly felt the need to use the restroom. I quickly excused myself from Ci-N and walked briskly toward the bathroom.

I peeked inside first, checking the cubicles. Better be safe! What happened before was traumatizing.

While sitting on the throne, I noticed the vandalism on the cubicle door.

Love is Blind

Mayet is ugly

I Like You, Yuri

Keifer, you're super handsome

Pfffttt. Super handsome, really? So, someone actually likes those idiots. They should've written this in the boys' restroom. Would they even see it if it's here?

I took out my phone and snapped a picture of the vandalism. I'll show it to the King of the idiots.

💡 Light bulb moment!

An idea popped into my head. A plan to prove that Freya was really the one who said the "M" word.

I quickly fixed myself and set my plan in motion. I just hope I don't lose my phone in there.

After setting up everything I needed, I left the restroom. Fingers crossed that Freya chooses to use this one.

I saw Felix walking by. He must just be arriving.

"Felix!" I called out and ran toward him.

But he just looked at me. We hadn't talked for a while—ever since they found out Aries was my cousin.

"Hey! How are you?" I asked with a smile.

"I'm fine..." he replied dryly and continued walking.

What's his problem?

"Hey! Did I do something to you? Why are you ignoring me?"

He still didn't respond and just kept walking. We reached the classroom, and he still didn't say a word to me. What the heck?

I had barely sat down when Calix approached me. "Can we talk?"

I just nodded and followed him. We stopped by the stairs. "What is it? Is something wrong?" I asked.

"I'm nervous..."

"Huh?"

He scratched the back of his neck and looked at me. "Our conversation went well, even though... we both ended up crying a bit. I asked for another chance, but I don't know if she'll agree."

"Did she say anything about texting or calling you?" He just shook his head and stared into the distance. "Do you want me to talk to her?" I asked. He didn't say anything. He was still staring off somewhere. "Alright… If I get the chance, I'll talk to her."

Calix finally turned to me. "Thank you," he said with a smile.

I smiled back at him and returned to the classroom. Just in time, too, since the teacher was coming in.

Nothing was going through my mind. My brain was clogged—just kidding! I was thinking about my phone in the restroom and how Felix was ignoring me.

Honestly, I kind of missed him—how he used to come up to me and ask for food. It was only for a short time, but I was already looking for it. I don't have a crush on him, either.

The next subjects passed by quickly. That's how it is when you're zoned out. I told Ci-N I'd just meet him at our hangout spot.

I headed to the restroom and looked for my phone. It was still there, and it looked like I got what I needed.

Here we go! This is it!

I rushed out of the restroom and ran back to our hangout. Ci-N and David were already there. Excited, I sat down and opened my phone.

"What's that?" Ci-N asked, peeking at my screen.

David looked, too.

It was a recording from inside the restroom. I had hidden my phone inside a tissue box stuck to the wall beside the mirror. Since it was broken, no one noticed.

I hit play... It took a while before anyone entered, so I fast-forwarded the video. Then, finally, Freya entered the restroom. Good thing she used this one!

"OMG! Look, girl!" Canvas-1 said while staring at the mirror.

Freya looked at it and immediately flared up in anger.

"How dare they! If there's a flirt here, it's not me! How dare… Whoever wrote this, they better watch out!" Freya fumed, furiously trying to erase the writing on the mirror.

"Who would even write that there? That took some nerve!" Canvas-2 said.

"Maybe it was Jay! She's the only one bold enough to go against Freya!" Canvas-1 added fuel to the fire.

"Did we ever call her a flirt?" Canvas-2 asked innocently.

Yes! You did!

The three of them thought for a moment, looking completely lost, as if they couldn't remember.

Ugh, how clueless can they be?!

"Or maybe it was Ella! Remember that incident?!" Freya suggested to them.

They all had completely puzzled expressions.

"Yeah! I'm sure it was her! She's the only one we ever called flirty!" Canvas-1 said in an overly dramatic way.

These girls are so extra! So annoying!

"She's bold because she has Aries! Ugh, so irritating!" Freya said in frustration.

She put her hands on her waist and stared at her reflection in the mirror. Or maybe she was staring at what I wrote—obviously struggling to erase it.

"Aaarrggghhh!!" Freya screamed, stomping her foot.

Freaking psycho.

"You're the flirt! Ella, the flirt! The biggest flirt! Super—"

Freya didn't get to finish because the two Canvases covered her mouth.

"Someone might hear you again! What is wrong with you?!" Canvas-2 scolded her, pulling her away.

Victory! My plan worked! I got even more than I was hoping for.

"What's that for, Jay?" Ci-N asked.

"For Aries, and also to get back at Freya," I said as I edited the video.

I needed to cut it. I only needed the part with Freya.

"What was written on the mirror that made Freya so mad?" David asked.

I didn't answer. I just showed him the picture. I had taken a photo of what I wrote before placing my phone on the side.

"You're the flirt, Freya! Not me!

P.S. You're not even that pretty, so stop acting like it."

David smiled. "I admire you, Jay-jay..."

I gave him a smile back—one that couldn't be matched by anything.

Now, I just needed to show this to Aries. Let's see if he doesn't blow up when he finds out Ella was called the "M" word again. Bwahahahahaha... Evil Laugh

"Can we eat now? I'm starving..." Ci-N complained, pouting and holding her stomach.

Oh, right. I forgot it was already lunch break. I got too excited about the video. I put my phone in my bag and took out our packed lunches. I had started packing food for two people now. No one told me to bring food for David—I just did it on my own.

"This is for you... And this is for you..." I said as I handed them their containers.

Ci-N was delighted and eagerly opened her lunchbox. David had no reaction, but I knew he appreciated it. I just knew it! And I was happy too! Happy that I could finally get back at Freya. Bwahahaha...

"Jay..." Ci called out while chewing. "Stop smiling like that. You look stupid."

I kept smiling. No matter what they said, I would keep smiling. Because I was finally going to get my revenge on that annoying Freya.

I'm so excited... And I just can't hide it!

There, I even ended up singing. Because seriously… I couldn't wait to see Aries' reaction. He was going to be furious. At the same time, Mica's name would finally be cleared.

After lunch, we headed back to the classroom together. The three of us walked side by side, with me holding onto both David's and Ci-N's arms. Total escort vibes.

"Jay-jay!" someone called me.

Mica.

I smiled at her and walked over. "What's up?"

She smiled back. "I just wanted to talk to you."

I nodded and signaled to Ci-N and David to go ahead. Mica and I moved a bit away from the classroom—of course, my nosy classmates would eavesdrop otherwise.

"Jay..." Mica started. "...I wanted to ask for your opinion."

"About what?" I asked.

"About me and Calix. Like you said before, I'd be able to move on faster if I listened to his explanation… You were right, Jay. I felt lighter after we talked," she explained.

Oh yeah, Calix did say he asked for another chance. But he wasn't sure if Mica would agree.

"Do you think I should give Calix another chance?" she asked me.

I scratched the back of my head. "Honestly… That's something only you can decide. But..." I looked her in the eyes. "...Calix is only human. He makes mistakes too. I think the time you spent avoiding him was enough for him to realize what he did wrong. And it wouldn't be so bad to give him the chance he's asking for."

Wow. I gave such solid advice.

Is that really you, Jay? Even the worms in my brain were shocked. My goodness!
