Chapter 32 - Something is going on.

"He did that?" I ask, gasping.

Vier chuckles, nodding his head. "Oh, don't even start…he was irked." Vier adds.

I chuckle, but on the inside, I was panicking.

What does this mean?

"I wonder if they know each other." Vier thinks out loud, I frown, eyeing him confused. "Uh? Why do you think so?" I ask, confused.

"I felt this weird tension…they were going at each other's neck." Vier moves to his side, stretching, "Ugh, still one day is left for the application. It means more selection work." He complains, all tired.

But my mind was stuck, wondering if they really did know each other.

It's not because of me, was it?

I shake my head no.

Don't overthink, it's gonna be the reason for my downfall.

"So, now what?" I ask, clearing my throat.

Vier looks at me, "After lunch break, we sit for a meeting." I nod.

"Are we finalizing the candidates from today?" Amelia asks, watching us. I look at Vier, he nods, "Yeah. It will be easier today, tomorrow it's gonna be a load."

"So, Alex was that good?" I ask, they both nod their head. "Pretty good that the ones present today, what I enjoyed is how he managed to stay polite despite the boss being so pissed." Vier says, chuckling.

"I bet he will be able to cope with any situation that falls our way." Amelia adds, nodding. "A good asset." She continues.

I smile, knowing they thought so good of him did warm my heart.

He really must have done well, huh?

Come on, Sie. Forget all this overthinking and creating a mess.

He must have thought it through, he is looking for a job. So, who am I to say anything? Because, seriously, if he didn't want to do it, he wouldn't.

I sigh, growing content with how the situation has turned out.

"So, shall we head out? For lunch?" Amy asks, standing on her toes as she looks through the barrier, I nod, excited.

"I wonder what they will serve today!" Amy exclaims, jumping up as she pats Dean's shoulder, urging him to join.

We all slowly make our way towards the cafeteria.

I look for my phone, finding it inside my jacket. I gasp, eyes wide as I notice the number of missed calls. Fuck.

I dial him back.

"Hello?" I hear him.

"Alex…I am sorry. I had my phone on silent." I say, apologizing with a sheepish smile, and guilty, yes.

I hear him chuckle, "I should have figured." I hear him say, Amy pats my arm, gesturing me to follow them, she grins, mouthing 'go find a table' and I nod, walking to an empty table.

"But you called?" I ask, wondering if it was that important, he called me like ten times.

"Ah, I was in your company. Hopefully, we can grab lunch later." He says, making me feel more guilty.

"Oh, um…did you leave?" I ask, looking around.

"Nope, wandering around. Are you finally free?" He asks, I chuckle, "Yeah, it's lunch time. If you want to come join-" Shit, I shouldn't.

I can't invite him here, no.

"Uh, maybe we could have dinner together later, I will cook. It will be troublesome for you to go back and forth." I say, correcting myself.

Compose yourself, Sie.

Bringing him here now is like announcing them, something is going on.

Something, something….nope!

Never!

I can't keep on being the subject of gossip.

"Why? It really won't be a bother. I am around the company, see you in a bit." He says, I blink my eyes, "Wait, Alex-"

Beep. Beep.

"...."

Did he just hang up?

Fuck.

No, I wanted to avoid this…I mean, we are basically roommates, we will be eating together most of the days.

Did he have to be that impatient to eat lunch?!

Ugh! No, it's not him.

He is not the problem.

It's me, and my cursed luck!

"What's wrong?" Vier asks, walking to me with two plates, "Here." He says, sitting beside me as he puts the plate before me, "Oh." I mumble, looking at the food, "Is this a sandwich?" I ask, since it was way too bulky.

"Hmm, it is. But we get extra stuff." He chuckles, and I smile.

"There is ham in it?" I ask. "Hmm, non-veg sandwich!" Amy exclaims, joining us as she sits down, followed by Dean and Amelia.

"Our company is too good." Dean says, straight diving into the food, "I chuckle, "Hmm." I mutter, grabbing a piece as I eat, hmm, delicious~

"Food is the only reason I am sticking here so well." Amelia says, humming in delight.

Dean nods his head, agreeing with her. "I second that." Amy joins too.

I look at Vier, he drugs, giggling, "Maybe?"

I laugh at them, enjoying the sandwich.

"Sie!" I hear him, fuck… I had forgotten about him for a minute.

With my mouth full, I froze, I turned around slowly, and gasped.

I hear them snicker, ahh…I am doomed.

He jogs to our table, "Oh, hello…everyone." He bows his head, I smile at him as he sits beside me, as he drags a free chair from behind, "It seems like everyone is here." He adds, smiling at all of them.

"So, it was true. You sure got words from our member, huh?" Vier says, grinning as he nudges me, I scoff, "I just said…he should try. Why are you all making this-"

"Same, Sie."

"Right, literally…that."

"Right, he meant the same."

They all add, one by one. I gulp, shit…

They chuckle, watching me squirm with unease and embarrassment. I look at Alex, I lean towards him, "Alex, they are crazy… don't mind them, ok?"

I hear him chuckle, but nonetheless, he nods.

As long as he doesn't misinterpret, I won't mind anything…at all.

Right?

But…will they help me keep things neutral, when they are more interested in us…than eating?

The blissful taste of the sandwich turned sour when their eyes found something more spectacular and delightful to see. Us... the probability of anything that might...in between us, delighted them.

Does it make sense?

Ugh…God, will you listen to me if I say….

Please!!!

Stop this from happening!!
