Chapter 47
Yu Xiaogang secretly hated him, but strength was something he lacked. He had no choice but to compromise.
"Xiaosan's profession is called Shura Arms Master. His ability allows him to control weapons freely, unleashing their theoretical maximum attack power. It grants him extraordinary weapon affinity as well."
Lin Bai was stunned.
What? Tang San got a profession like that?
He honestly expected Tang San to be an assassin, given his usual style. But thinking about it, Lord Shura probably made this choice because of Tang San's expertise with hidden weapons.
What caught Lin Bai's attention was the word Shura. It wasn't just for show. It meant bloodlust, aggression, fearlessness in battle. It wasn't the title of some benevolent figure. Lin Bai knew this profession wasn't as simple as it looked. It might've even been influenced by his Clear Sky Hammer.
With Tang San's talent, he should've been able to clear an S or SS-ranked dungeon. No telling what the other two profession choices were.
"Alright," Yu Xiaogang lowered his head, trying his best not to provoke the man in black floating in the sky. "I've said everything. Can you let us go?"
Lin Bai grinned. "Of course. I keep my word."
He got the information he wanted, left Tang San, then fixed his gaze on Yu Xiaogang's face — a face long overdue for a beating.
Lin Bai clenched his fist, condensed his mind power into it, and punched forward.
"I've wanted to do this for a long time."
Yu Xiaogang let out a miserable cry as blood gushed from his nose. He collapsed to the ground.
Lin Bai was in a great mood. He casually put his hand in his pocket and felt a translucent crystal.
A flash of white light burst out.
Time rewound.
The scene returned to a quarter of an hour ago.
"Are we still going in?"
"Forget it," Lin Bai smiled. "Since others are already here, let them handle it. I'm not that interested."
He led Zhu Zhuqing and the others away, his expression calm and satisfied.
No one knew he'd just beaten Tang San and Yu Xiaogang to a pulp inside the dungeon city.
This wasn't the first time he'd used the time-reversal function of the Time and Space Godhead. After obtaining it, Lin Bai had carefully tested how much of its power still remained outside the dungeon.
The good news? Its abilities hadn't weakened a bit.
The bad news? The Godhead's consumption was terrifyingly high. It couldn't be used continuously without a cooldown. If he wanted to chain its use like that kobold Caesar, he'd need to sacrifice high-energy resources.
Otherwise, he could only wait for it to recharge naturally.
Through the Eye of Appraisal, Lin Bai also learned how to speed up that recharge — by gaining the attention and worship of intelligent lifeforms. Human faith was essentially low-tier divine power. The Godhead could filter and refine it into energy.
Which was why Lin Bai didn't mind staying visible and making a name for himself.
After the experiment just now, Lin Bai confirmed that time reversal was practically a cheat-level life-saving trump card. And if he could gather enough energy, he might unlock even greater abilities.
They continued walking on flat ground until they discovered a jackal camp up ahead.
Jackals were brown-furred werewolf-type monsters, capable of wielding crude weapons and armor. The camp Zhu Zhuqing spotted was a medium-sized tribe, housing over a hundred jackals.
It sounded like a lot, but it really wasn't. Wiping them out would be enough for Lin Bai to gain one level. As for Xiao Wu and the others, who were higher leveled, they'd probably get around five percent experience at best.
"Brother Lin," Zhu Zhuqing said as she pulled on a pair of black, fingerless gloves — monster loot that boosted attack power. Her slender, jade-like fingers radiated quiet lethality. "You and Xiaotian are still low-level. I'll leave this jackal camp to you. We won't interfere."
Lin Bai was momentarily dazed by her grace. Zhu Zhuqing, sensing his gaze, lowered her head and withdrew her hands awkwardly.
"No problem. Leave it to me."
Lin Bai regained his composure, gave a friendly pat to Ying Tian beside him, and leapt onto the dragon's back.
Strictly speaking, he didn't need Ying Tian's help against a group like this — but caution was always the better part of valor. Lin Bai wasn't the type to get careless just because his opponents were weak.
"Xiaotian, let's go."
At his command, the platinum-gold dragon let out a deafening roar that reverberated through the underground space. It carried an oppressive pressure that made even the air feel heavy.
The jackals, lacking higher intelligence, immediately collapsed to the ground under the dragon's might. The few over level 10 barely held onto their weapons, their trembling muscles betraying their terror.
Lin Bai steadied himself on Ying Tian's back, clamping his legs firmly and leaning against the dragon's wings. No matter how violently Ying Tian moved, he wouldn't be thrown off.
He summoned the Ruyi Qiankun Spear, gripping it with one hand. His pupils shifted into dragon eyes, their cold golden gaze locking onto the handful of elite jackals who dared to resist.
Lin Bai chuckled.
One thing he loved most about the Dragon Knight profession was that while mounted, he could dual-wield martial spirits and simultaneously use two sets of martial arts — something no other twin martial spirit wielder could do.
Top-tier dragon knights could even leave their dragons and maintain full combat effectiveness for a time. That was Lin Bai's personal goal for the future.
As for the jackals before him, they were nothing more than sparring targets for his spear.
With both martial spirits active, Lin Bai's stats were fully boosted. The strain of dual martial spirit output was mostly handled by Ying Tian. If his soul power ever faltered, Ying Tian could immediately compensate through their connection.
Adapting to his master's energy output was part of a dragon's duty.
If anyone observed closely, they would see a faint connection between Lin Bai's soul rings and Ying Tian. If his beast spirit was something like a silkworm dragon, that connection would allow Ying Tian to directly use Lin Bai's soul skills through their bond.
"Xiaotian, don't use any skills," Lin Bai laughed. "Let's see who kills more."
Ying Tian let out a spirited roar and charged forward, flying low over the ground. A swipe of his dragon claws decapitated a jackal before the poor beast even registered what happened. Its headless corpse hit the ground with a thud, and Ying Tian's experience bar crept higher.
Lin Bai adjusted his posture, refraining from using the dragon knight's signature skills for now. His spear techniques were still rough, only able to unleash basic thrusts, sweeps, and smashes.
To match Ying Tian's growing size, Lin Bai had the Ruyi Qiankun Spear extend to three meters. After a brief adjustment period, it no longer hindered his movement.
The scent of blood thickened in the air.
The jackals, their eyes turning crimson, slowly snapped out of their fear under the overwhelming stench. More of them grabbed crude weapons and charged in a frenzy.
Lin Bai responded with ruthless precision. He drove his spear through one jackal's throat, the system's experience notification ringing pleasantly in his ears.
He didn't mute it — the steady stream of level-up chimes was music to his ears, a fitting soundtrack for slaughter.
