Chapter 46 - Chapter 46 – Metal Coat (Bonus Chapter)

[Name: Beldum]

[Ability: Clear Body (Prevents stats from being lowered by opponents' moves or abilities.)]

[Type: Steel + Psychic]

[Hidden Power (Electric)]

[Description: Beldum is a mechanical lifeform that strongly resembles a dumbbell. It has a long body and a large claw at its rear. Its head is nearly spherical and connects to its body via a ball-and-socket joint, with a large red eye in the center. Atop its head is a crown-like structure that protects it. Beldum is highly aggressive and, when provoked, can wreak havoc by unleashing powerful magnetic forces that destroy nearby machinery. They have a strong group consciousness, often moving in perfect coordination like a single Pokémon.]

[Level: 27 (21–30: Advanced Tier)]

[Moves: Iron Defense, Iron Head, Zen Headbutt]

That's right—this Shiny Beldum possesses Hidden Power with the Electric type.

As a pseudo-legendary, it's no wonder the map reward from the system described it as having immense potential. With proper training, this Beldum could achieve greatness in the future.

It's worth noting that its current strength and level indicate it could already evolve.

Perhaps it hasn't yet due to its Shiny nature, but evolution shouldn't be far off.

With another Pokémon added to his team, Nathan's daily expenses increased once again.

Coupled with the battles over the past few days, which required more resources and sometimes left his Pokémon injured, Nathan's daily spending now consistently exceeded 100,000 Pokécoins.

"It's about time to leave," Nathan murmured as he treated Scyther's injuries.

He then recalled Pangoro into its Pokéball and made his way back to where Metagross was waiting.

It was a massive cavern.

Inside, dozens of Beldum were hanging upside down from the ceiling like bats. Besides Beldum, there were also a few Metang and, in the very depths, the imposing figure of Metagross.

Due to Metagross's orders, the Beldum and Metang didn't react to Nathan's presence.

He walked straight up to Metagross and said, "Metagross, I'm heading out now."

Metagross opened its eyes and looked at Nathan. "I hope you can find that one for me, Trainer."

"I'll do my best," Nathan replied seriously.

"Good. I'll send you off. Also—this item is a gift for the child. Make sure to give it to him."

A flat plain near the Ancient city.

Nathan suddenly appeared, his body swaying before he collapsed to the ground.

"Damn…"

He cursed under his breath, patting his forehead, still feeling the ringing in his ears.

"Metagross can teleport? Or was that me getting teleported?" he muttered. His stomach churned. That was his first time experiencing teleportation—it wasn't pleasant at all.

Who would've thought Metagross's "send-off" meant teleporting him away?

"Then again, it does have Psychic typing. And with its strength, teleportation isn't surprising," Nathan murmured.

He sat on the ground for quite a while before the dizziness finally subsided. Then he stood up and looked back toward the Silverpeak Mountains. His eyes reflected awe and shock.

That was his first time truly feeling the terrifying power of a strong wild Pokémon.

A pseudo-legendary at its peak.

Yes—he was now certain of Metagross's strength.

A pseudo-legendary with that level of power… honestly, even some ordinary legendary Pokémon might not be able to defeat it.

Though it didn't serve under any divine duty, it was still immensely powerful.

Thankfully, Pokémon of that caliber usually dwell in remote areas and won't attack humans unless provoked—like a silent agreement to leave each other alone.

"This world of Pokémon… you really can't underestimate any of them," Nathan whispered, shaking his head.

He looked down at the item Metagross had given him—a Metal Coat.

It was a held item, or something that could be applied to a Pokémon, enhancing the power of Steel-type moves.

One glance, and Nathan could tell the Metal Coat was high quality.

Held items come in two types: man-made and naturally occurring.

Naturally occurring ones have varying quality. The darker the color or the more radiant the glow, the higher the quality.

Metal Coats like this one are usually found deep within large mineral veins.

"A pretty good item."

Nathan pocketed the Metal Coat and began making his way toward the Ancient city.

That night, he stayed at a five-star Pokémon hotel in the city. The next day, he explored the city. On the third day, he boarded a flight to Glorious City.

Glorious City was known for its hot climate. The local Gym Leader specialized in Water-type Pokémon, and challengers would receive a Wave Badge.

As soon as he stepped off the plane, a wave of heat hit him in the face.

And everywhere he looked—scantily dressed, pretty girls, school uniforms, pleated skirts, hotpants… It was quite the sight.

The sun was blinding, so Nathan put on his sunglasses and hopped into a cab heading into the city.

Glorious City, located in the southwest, had a mix of mountains and plains. As a result, the area was rich in various Pokémon types—Fighting, Grass, Water, Ground, even Rock-types.

Occasionally, he'd heard of Pancham sightings nearby.

Perhaps due to the heat, most local Trainers preferred Water or Ice-types to stay cool.

There were many Mystic Realms around Glorious City—ranging from D-rank to A-rank.

(TN: Change Secret realms to Mystic Realms)

However, the A-rank zones were far from the city and rarely visited.

"I remember there's a C-rank Mystic Realm nearby, mostly inhabited by Rock-types. Might be worth checking out," Nathan mused, stroking his chin.

Rock-types are weak to Ground and Steel—perfect for training Trapinch and Beldum.

As for the Gym, Nathan wasn't in a rush.

He had plenty of time. The priority now was leveling up—he needed his third Pokémon to reach Gym-level so he could qualify for the Elite Trainer Exam.

"You here for sightseeing?" the taxi driver asked casually.

"Gym challenge," Nathan replied with a grin.

The driver glanced at him. "Then be careful, young man. Glorious City Gym's no joke. Lots of newbies rush in thinking they've got what it takes, and they all walk out disappointed."

Nathan chuckled. "No worries. I can handle setbacks. If I lose, I get stronger—and come back."

"Hah, that's the spirit! You've got a good attitude. Where you from, by the way?"

The driver kept up friendly chatter the whole way, introducing Nathan to local tourist spots and his favorite snacks.

Nathan responded with a smile every time, and before long, they reached his hotel.

It was another branch of the five-star Pokémon hotel chain.

After booking the best room, Nathan finally relaxed. He lay down on the soft bed, thinking about his next steps.

The Glorious City Gym Leader specialized in Water-types and likely had a signature Elite-tier Pokémon.

Water-types had a clear advantage over his Volcarona.

Given his previous Gym battle experience, Nathan knew Gym Leaders all had some tricks up their sleeves—he couldn't underestimate them.

If the opponent had a good strategy plus a type advantage, it could end badly.

"I might be better off using Pangoro or Beldum instead."

Pangoro wasn't weak to Water and could use Thunder Punch, which synergized well with its other moves.

Beldum, while Steel/Psychic, could also be viable—thanks to its Hidden Power (Electric). It could learn a variety of Electric-type moves, which would be effective against Water-types.

But it would take some time to learn those moves.

Frowning slightly, Nathan opened the system shop and browsed skill-learning items.

"Spark, Thunder Punch, Shock Wave, Charge Beam… none of them are especially powerful, so Beldum shouldn't have trouble learning them," Nathan muttered as he bought several move-learning machines compatible with Beldum and browsed the latest shop refresh.

[1: Travel Suit – 1,000,000 Pokécoins]

[2: Healing Ball – 50,000 Pokécoins]

[3: Sea Beast Fossil – 3,000,000 Pokécoins]

"Nothing too great today," Nathan muttered. The travel suit was decent—it came with auto-cleaning, goggles, a mask, and other gear suited for wilderness exploration. It also offered slight defensive protection, improving Trainer safety. Worth buying.

As for the Healing Ball and the fossil…

The Healing Ball was useful—it could heal the Pokémon caught with it.

The Sea Beast Fossil, on the other hand, was just a literal fossil.

Even if fossils could be revived, who knew if this one could? At most, it was a collectible.

Plus, it was huge. Not something easy to carry around.

After some thought, Nathan purchased the Healing Ball and the travel suit.

The suit resembled Red's classic outfit—stylish and modern, and surprisingly comfortable.

He tucked the Healing Ball away.

Just then, his phone rang.

It was Teacher William.

"Hey, Teach. What's up?" Nathan answered.

"Of course something's up. Where are you right now?"

"Glorious City. Why?"

"Remember those stones I mentioned before? They've arrived—no idea if they're what you need, though. Also, Elite Guardian Gray said he has a few things to send you too. I'll have them shipped together. Since you're in Glorious City, just send me your address."

Nathan's eyes lit up. "Alright, I'll text it to you."

"Cool. Stay there for a couple more days. Barring delays, the package should arrive tomorrow or the day after. See if there's anything you need among those stones."

"Got it."

"Alright, gotta run. Talk later."

The call ended.

Nathan felt a flutter of excitement.

"Maybe there's a Z-Crystal… or a Mega Stone? Man, I hope so."

Smiling, he got up to wash up, dried his hair, changed, and left the hotel for dinner.

Afterward, he planned to explore one of the Mystic Realms nearby.

If all went well, Beldum and Trapinch might be ready to evolve soon.
